(313) Huge discography (was too quiet? too pac!)

2004-12-16 Thread Michael . Elliot-Knight

Funny you should mention a record for most, uh, records

on the LD site there's a thread about Djax-up-beats and I do think out of
any still existing dance record label they have got to have one of _the
largest_ discographies ever.
Look on their main website (not discogs because it's far from complete)

http://www.djax.nl/

is my math right? - they have 250 different releases in their catalog on
Djax-up-beats alone?
Granted many of the recent releases have been set drum on high and go but
still - that's mighty f*cking impressive.
Their first Djax-up-beats record was released in 1990.
And Alan Oldham has made most of them look fantastic I might add

what other dance/electronic labels are up around there (and still in
operation)?
Tresor? Strictly Rhythm?

new records released while alive

im pretty sure i read somewhere that Muslimgauze was the most
prolific recording artist of all time.

At least he's done something few other artists can claim: he resurrected
from the grave and resumed releasing new material

Gives a whole new spin on posthumous releases.

For me, one of the best (and most overlooked) Detroit-related (I don't
think it was made in Detroit though) ambient tracks, *ever* ;-), is

'Snowdrifts' by Indio. It's On the 'Time : Space' cd on Transmat, for
those who don't know. If you're one them I'd humbly advise that you
need to hear it.

not sure on CW, but SOSW is Surfing On Sinewaves, obviously his
best non-SAW material. SOSW is very very detroity, if you dont
have it you should be able to find the TVT version of the CD used
for like $5. the artist name is Polygon Window.

wow- a little overdramatic, yeah?

what's with the love of anything you like?

i just really like the track. i think those opening chords are as classic
as anything from the genre. And so does CC as he rerecorded it with
Innerzone Orchestra and repeatedly stated that he viewed the song as one
of his standards

At Les is not the end all be all track for everyonesome love it and i
am sure obviously some don'teveryone hears differently.just
because someone does'nt agree does'nt mean they don't get it.

and no one has to see Innerzone live to understand it either (maybe this
is what you had to do to understand it). the original track is on wax
and i would say its a good representation of the track...like i said some
feel it and some don't. i like the track and other CC stuff but i
would'nt go telling peeps they don't get it if they don't like the same
tracks i do..geesh

a number of tracks on Time:Space 2 by Tony Drake, Sans Soleil, Yellow
Planet (don't have CD with me so I can't name which ones exactly)

The B side to Model 500 Starlight - the beats are buried deep enough into
the mix to make it ambient
that's a headphones track if I ever heard one

Kenny Larkin - Breathe

I always love Detroit Esc Co. The Inverted Man - Dreaming

I'd have to qualify tons of Jeff Mills stuff as ambient as well - most of
the tracks on the Humana EP, the Other Day, etc. Mills usually has some
great ambient tracks on his releases.

Deepchord also. Again, the beats are pretty soft in most of the tracks that
they could almost qualify as ambient. They certainly are deep enough to.

Drexciya - Cascading Celestial Giants and the 1st track on Unknown Aquazone
