simply because my records are organised only by previous pilings

thats how all my records are organized. its kinda fun, you have to
remember the last time you played a record and remember what other
stuff you played in that set in order to be able to find it.

2005-03-19 Thread Michael . Elliot-Knight

I've enjoyed reading this thread because I can't tell you what song is on
what side of most of my records
people will talk about a song by name and I just give them a blank stare -
then they say it's that one that goes
and -ah!- yes. I know which one you're talking about now.
I remember them by label graphics - and then it's inside track on the side
with the ___ picture/words

I read in some magazine = you know you're a DJ when you don't know the
names of the tracks you're playing anymore.

there's only certain labels I organize together (with the plastic cards you
find organizing bins in record shops), the rest are randomly put back where
ever

overall, their loosely grouped into boxes - electro, techno, house,
downtempo/reggae/broken-beat

and then there's my sock drawer

Funny you mention it, because I could _swear_ I saw him on the T in downtown

Also, any tips for Boston Saturday night 3/19?

Apx 30 people paid to get in.

i'll bet the promoter wasn't smiling

Carl turned up smiling, and played for three hours. It was real
it was so solid, and ever person in the culb was dancing.

I'm so tierd, and a but fuzzy. We drove 5 hours each way and
worked either side to see this happen.

Thank you Carl for giving us your love.

I forgot to say that maybe you mis-understood my comment a little. I was
kinda trying to say, that if I'm going to pay a load of money to get into
 a

club, which has in turn paid that dj a load of money, I want to be
entertained. and, well, if its me that needs entertaining, I wanna hear
them playing something crazy, something that will make my hair stand on
 end. so, I agree basically.

oh yeah, my mate was playing the new frantic flowers jamal moss over some
mad beats from an ibadan record on saturday. and that sounded crazy! and
 my

 hair stood on end!

BTW, Claude Young might have a few worries with the title of the Brother From
Another Planet LP, since DJ Format is about to release an LP with exactly the
same title on Genuine/PIAS in April...

I think Format changed the name. The promo I got was titled If You Can't
Join 'Em... Beat 'Em
