(313) UK SPAM [Dustv006] Shawn Rudiman – Second Is First
[Dustv006] Shawn Rudiman – Second Is First Shawn Rudiman's already famous for delivering awesome, deep crowd-pleasers for 7th City, Hypervinyl and Technoir, as well as turning in fearsome performances live, and with this EP he cements his reputation for crafting superior-quality, multi-dimensional 4-4. The main cut Second is First just screams quality and will be a favourite among darker house Djs as well as the techno cognoscenti. It's ideal for getting big rooms moving because its wobbly, blunted Miami stylings simply seduce crowds. Spooky samples, massive dark bass and oodles of hooks are blended to create a gorgeous subterranean groove. A killer track and definitely a good record to have in the box. The B-side maintains the quality level, She Don't Deserve My Hate making good on the promises made on the lusher side of Chicago. The medium tempo and meditational feel is preserved, but delicate electro shadings emerge among some of the finest analogue sweeps you'll hear this year. As European as its American in flavour, it's idle way of lulling dancers onto and off the floor. Time And Focus offers a chugging, uptempo groover that will drive many different sorts of sets. (313) citymorb music ctm000ctm001 (buy!)
a quick review of some promos I was sent recently by our friendly track pushers at citymorb music, rome italy. (samples of ctm000 (dieb - unit injector drive) available on citymorb's website at www.citymorb.net my friend (who incidently has releases on mille plateaux and force inc) said it best: this stuff sounds like where force inc left off ctm000 - dieb - unit injector drive: great album. very atmospheric, nice production, really good futuristic techno. nothing too cliche about it, but its also not pretentious sounding. just listen and you'll buy it. all 3 tracks are great IMO ctm001 - receptor - moving head: another great one. not quite out yet, but soon. with this one, citymorb is establishing its sound track 1 is more straightforward techno, while tracks 2 and 3 are a little more experimental, but not to the point of making them tough to use in a mix. to me, they take a little more active listening than some other electronic tracks, which is a good thing imo. as far as the pressings, I was quite impressed with both the thickness and the quality of the pressing. everything sounds and feels wonderful. much better than the last few NSC promos I've received, thats for sure. watch out for citymorb, you'll be giving them a lot of your money before long, and you'll be happy to do it. magda did a nice review of the dieb record, maybe fab can point it out for everyone, if its on the web yet. i'll try and feature some of these tracks in an upcoming fuxmix. thx for listening! -Joe emmrecords

For years, I had always put it down to the pressing on my vinyl copy. I was listening to Depth Charge 1 (or whichever one it was) on CD the other day and heard the same thing. Just curious. (313) Derek Plaslaiko plus afterhours Friday in NYC
Friday July 1 ***THE BUNKER*** Derek Plaslaiko (Ghostly | NYC) Derek is one of the best DJs we've heard. Dude never, ever f*cks up a mix, and his excellent track selection always keeps the trainspotters on their toes. Ghostly has this to say: Derek Plaslaiko delves into the realm of dance music in which the head and body are equally active. The records he plays click and whirl inside the brain while the low end keeps the body busy. Mixing lush techno with jackin' house and a healthy dose of Detroit classics, Plaslaiko is known for his creative track selection, seamlessly woven by pin-point mixing skills that rival international DJs like Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, and Laurent Garnier (all of whom Plaslaiko has shared deck time with). Tonight Derek joins us for a special 3 hour birthday set. We know it's probably pointless to suggest this to Derek's friends, but perhaps we shouldn't get him TOO wasted before he goes on?! Some of these cuts are reissues, right?.. Midnight Dancin was on Target, The Beginning and the End EP i think... and maybe came out as a self-titled release too. ANyone know if the others tracks are new or old? doesn't matter much to me, just curious. I really like his stuff on Target.. there's probably a buzz about this on DHP i'd imagine peace -- MM http://sonicsunset.com
RE: (313) Sister Ray mail order
Hi, I've used them in the past and found them to be excellent. One of the best of the more famous mail order/record shops I reckon. Re: (313) UR - Amazon
I always thought this was just a single beat missing in the track- there are a couple of other MM productions that do this (can't for the life me think what they are at the moment!)and also at least one Derrick May track (possibly one of the Move It mixes). In other words I think it is deliberate production trick cheers Jason On 29 Jun 2005, at 13:53, Nik Stoltzman wrote: Hello, Just a quick question: Does everyone's copy of Amazon have a glitch in it? About three minutes in (sorry, don't have the exact timing). For years, I had always put it down to the pressing on my vinyl copy. I was listening to Depth Charge 1 (or whichever one it was) on CD the other day and heard the same thing. Just curious. Some of it sounds old, like early Derrick May stuff as Marsel said, other tracks have a more modern 'beefy' production sound. A few tracks sound a bit dated, but for the most part it's pretty strong. Particularly like the track 'Rain' (or something like that, haven't got the CD in front of me). Huh. Is it meant to be all new stuff? Rain Pt 2 was on the Netherlands EP: http://www.discogs.com/release/137558 ...and apparently there was a track called 'The Rain' on this SSR comp: http://www.discogs.com/release/91727 Anyway, count me among the excited.
