Re: (313) Swing/"Jive" Jazz samples
Also, I think the Rob Hood EP "Underestimated" has a track that opens with a swing bit before it goes into the usual minimal techno bidness. ~David > not sure if this is what you are talking about..but i have an Armando > album with a track on it called "Real Jazz" from the one world one future > album. its just one track, but definatly swingin.also a track on the > Madhouse Compilation " a basement, a red light and a feelin' by Keri > Chandler is very swingin jazz.i believe the track is called "the way > it was" > > not many but its what came to my mind when i thought of swingin jazz > tracksalthough im sure there are many more... > > michael > www.renegaderhythms.com > > > > >> On Wed, October 26, 2005 7:57 pm, [EMAIL PROTECTED] >> wrote: >> >>> wondering what other tracks are out there that use swing jazz samples? >> > >

Did you get my mails re the Loosefingers track? Maybe you've replied and I haven't got the replies? I live in a world of e-mail insecurity.
Re: FW: (313) Swing/"Jive" Jazz samples
I have to agree with you Francis. While there are a couple of G-Swing tracks I like, overall their releases are pretty formulaic - kick drum, hand clap, and some snares under a cut-up jazz tune. I was hoping to find something a little more interesting that retains its quality over a period of time instead of tracks that get maybe one or two plays out of them at best. G-Swing just comes across as lazy in the creative dept. after hearing a three or four different records (all by different artists). I've got a Nick Holder "Sometimes I'm Blue" on iK7 which seems to have stood the test of time. The Lina album sounds more interesting. RE: (313) Swing/"Jive" Jazz samples
Here's a surprising one for you, which I've been meaning to post all day (it's been busy here): http://www.discogs.com/release/26453 Check out track 7. Unhealthily obsessive listening, ahem, reveals the use of some samples, which to me evoke images of ancient film reels about (affected 1930s broadcaster's accent) 'a new dance craze called swing.' And that's straight up. Have a listen. Ken

Greetings folks. Does anyone know if the above track appears on any other release besides "panic in Detroit"? I would love to find a version of this track that isn't mastered so quietly. Cheers, Lee R. Herrington U STORE IT Technical Support Specialist [EMAIL PROTECTED] 440-260-2245
RE: (313) Swing/"Jive" Jazz samples
I am sorry to have possibly steered someone wrong yesterday with my post. The label I was thinking of is NOT swing city, it's g-swing. They're related to greenskeepers in some way, but I'm pretty sure mike Dixon has a heavy hand in the label as well. And this type of stuff is pretty much all this label puts out. :) Checka http://www.discogs.com/label/G-Swing Peace and accuracy, KKS

The Greenskeepers are the obvious examples but there's also a neo-soul singer called Lina who has that vibe and is extremely underrated in the US. She's currently down with the Hidden Beach side of things (Jill Scott). Re: (313) Schizophrenia
how about: Schizophrenia - Schizophrenia (great Moritz Von Oswald & Thomas Fehlmann one-off project) I think this last one was CD only on Tresor III compilation, the got licenced to a few other CD comps... always been looking for on wax but have yet to find it. sorry to get all spotter dork about it.. ;P hello matt, from one spotter dork to another... ; ) The Schizophrenia track (and a nice Sun Electric track named Monolith) were 'only' on the CD versions of the Tresor III comp with one small exception. There is a limited number of Tresor III vinyl editions on NovaMute that came with a bonus 12" that featured the Sun Electric and Schizophrenia tracks. I agree it's a great track and it also appeared on several other compilations including the Astralwerks Excursions in Ambience - The Second Orbit release (which also had the excellent Orb remix of Maurizio's Ploy). Tresor 3 (Limited Edition Triple-Pack) NoMu 043 LP A1 Maurizio: Domina (Maurizio Mix) A2 Jeff Mills: Solid Sleep B1 Joey Beltram: Ten Four B2 Robert Hood: The Rhythm Of Vision C1 Daniel Bell: Science Fiction C2 DJ Hell: Allerseelen (Jeff Mills Remix) Remix - Jeff Mills D1 3 Phase: Motor Music-Maerz D2 Blake Baxter: Energizer E1 Sun Electric: Monolith* F1 Schizophrenia: Schizophrenia* -- -->-Lance 6099 Creekside Lane North Ridgeville, OH 44039 United States
