Re: (313) Swing/Jive Jazz samples
i havent been following this thread very closely but here are the ones i can think of, most arent necessarily detroit records... bugs in the bassbin (which has probably been mentioned already) soul center 1 - thomas brinkmann, soul swing keep it unreal - mr scruff, lots of weird jazz/swing references Doot Doot 12 - can someone trainspot this? I think it was a record put out by hardfloor before they were hardfloor. the whole track is structured around the copious use of a swing sample. i want to say some moodyman too, but id have to listen back over some 12s --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Also, I think the Rob Hood EP Underestimated has a track that opens with a swing bit before it goes into the usual minimal techno bidness. ~David not sure if this is what you are talking about..but i have an Armando album with a track on it called Real Jazz from the one world one future album. its just one track, but definatly swingin.also a track on the Madhouse Compilation a basement, a red light and a feelin' by Keri Chandler is very swingin jazz.i believe the track is called the way it was not many but its what came to my mind when i thought of swingin jazz tracksalthough im sure there are many more... michael www.renegaderhythms.com On Wed, October 26, 2005 7:57 pm, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: wondering what other tracks are out there that use swing jazz samples? __ Do You Yahoo!? Lina actually has 2 albums - one, the first, Stranger On Earth on Elektra that is absolutely awesome. The new one is Hidden Beach I think. I know James Curd of Greenskeepers was familiar with her. It's a real shame she has not received more recognition. It's said that Dallas Austin jacked her style for Blu Cantrell's Oops hit... but, don't get scared, Lina is much more deep soul. The Lina album sounds more interesting.

Yesterday I was talking bollox about that Drexciya track. I meant not 'Mission To Oxciya Sandor...' on Harnessed The Storm, but 'Acquatic Cataclysm'. Sorry. If you listen to that though, I'm sure you'll hear what sounds very much like those samples too. K

-Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 28 October 2005 15:42 Doot Doot was done by Freur - Karl Hyde Rick Smith's band before they formed Underworld (incarnation #1) Is that the same record as I remember (if so incorrectly obviously) as Doop by Doop? - the UK chart topper? I have fond memories of that record as when I used to live in the wilds of Cumbria (translation for non-UK peepz = a bit like US hill billy country) I went to the local club one Saturday (cross betweeen a teen disco and a working mens club) and a massive fight broke out while this was on, it was mayhem, the whole place was going off but somehow with that playing over the top it was comical, like some scene out of a black and white western where 2 guys fighting sets the whole saloon off.
