Re: FW: (313) Swing/"Jive" Jazz samples

2005-10-29 Thread P. Lasell
I might be confusing tracks here.

As I recall it sounded like a hard chicago house track, with a sample
of women singing "Doop Doop" taken from a 1920s-30s swing or ragtime
song. The track structure is typical. Sounded like an early 90s
equivalent of techno/house novelties like 'Crazy Frog' or Oizo's 'Flat
Beat'. I can imagine it working well in a bar brawl in the UK ;)

Re: (313) Larry Heard last night

2005-10-29 Thread KiDD*e
Oh yeah that was reeeally good !!!
He has spun almost all night !
A perfect and so skilled mix.
Very veried selection but so homogeneous. Some House classics, a good touch
of Acid, and of course some Disco.
He even played "Energy Flash".
And i have this memory stuck in my head, when he put the Dan hartman
"Relight my fire", its was totally delirious !!
I've never seen a crowd in Paris so enthousiatic, screaming and singing.
Thank you Mr Heard !

(313) Diplo was fantastic!

2005-10-29 Thread tevans1111
Hey thanks for all the good advice to see him. He did a tag team/play with set
with dj marlboro for 3 hours of booty shaking funked brazilian, electro and
some other stuff. Super solid set that had the club dancing from 10 till the
end. They played a couple of detroit classics, metroplex early tracks, but
mainly stayed on music that I didn't know...so that was really exciting. It
made me feel young again, like wow what is this music it is so different and so
interesting, and people are dancing really hard to it. On the minus side,
there were a number of frat like folks there and a equal number of skeezy guys
trying to freak on women...they didn't actually want to freak with me, in san
francisco you cannot blame a guy for trying...;)
