Re: (313) So Bad But So Funny

2006-07-25 Thread Luis-Manuel Garcia
Haha. *thank you* for pointing this out. I'm going to get my ass
kicked in Chicago next time I see colors. =]

Speaking of which, Peaches was in town (Chicago) last week and her
encore was an amusing b-side from her Downtown EP called Hanky
Code. A very cute disco-donna-summer-kraftwerk-prince sorta thing.
Not precisely 313-pure techno, but there's something to be said for
what Peaches does with rock and electronics. It certainly ain't
Postal Service...

(313) gary's gang :lets love dance tonight

2006-07-25 Thread ed612313

ok peoples.
Ive been after this record for way to long now. Atleast 10 years.

gary's gang :lets love dance tonight

The main problem is i still dont know what version im searching for?? I know
its not the original. Thats it.
Im after the instrumental version that ive heard many a hip hop dj play
aswell as techno djs (d may, c craig and ive heard jeff mills play it plenty
of times also)

does anyone know what label its on?? version?? etc???

and another one
I know very little about except ive heard dj genesis (on her first mix cd),
norman jay and TP play it numerous times. Very housy, upbeat, vocal track.
Vocals are here comes the sun I love the sunnn
I know thats an extremely average description but its all i got :) Reading
it back to myself - Pathetic

ps enjoyed the moodymann compilation mix
dissapointed with rolandos most recent effort. the 2nd cd is nice but the
1st?? I dont know. Maybe im still pieved from flying from Dublin to
brussells and him not showing, or maybe its when i flew to paris and he
didnt show??? anyway. average

One last thing? IS ANYTHING HAPPENING IN SYDNEY THESE DAYS??? Ive been
back for 4 months now and nothing (except kenny larkin which was good).
Please. Desperate for a couple of beers where there is some decent music!

thanks in advance
Ed

(313) Congrats to Simon Hindle

2006-07-25 Thread Joost P

List member Simon got into the Red Bull Music Academy that's being
held in Melbourne this year. A fantastic opportunity!

I didn't get in myself. Again. So I'm terribly jealous. But
nevertheless I hope Simon will have a great time there.

It would be great if you could keep us updated a bit on what's going
on when you're there, if you even get the time. But that's up to you
of course.

For those who don't know what the RBMA is, check this: http://
www.redbullmusicacademy.com/ and check out the lectures.

Have fun man!

That's Shawn Escoffery's Days Like This. Lots of remixes out there. Not
sure which one you'd want, but it was fairly widely available when it came
out so shouldn't be very hard to track down.

Err, sorry... you probably want the Spinna mix. I'm remembering now that it
was the most widely played one at the time. I think.

I've never heard a real instrumental of this track. However,
Soulsearcher did use a loop of the opening break for their Can't Get
Enough track. On one of the remixes, I think the Jazz-N-Groove one;
and there is a dub of that, so that could be what you've heard. It
dates from around ten years ago, so it could very well be that. I'm
pretty sure Ashley Beedle also used the track around that time, so
maybe it's one of his (although I couldn't help you with the title
there), or maybe even a Black Science Orchestra track.

But start with the Soulsearcher (double pack on Soulfuric). It should
be widely available, as it was a pretty big hit, and got a bit
overplayed on the East Coast and in the UK, so a few DJs would have
gotten rid of it by now. *not that it's not a good track!*

Hope this helps.

Francis.
