RE: (313) OT: Ryan Burns died
I'll also dig out 'Shades of Jae' tonight as a fitting way to say 'see ya Ryan.' This news sends a chill down the spine during this season when it's 360 from where most mind sets are again, I didn't know the man, but a certain familiarity sets in from seeing his name crop up a lot around here, and I can say that I would have liked him I think. Wishing sympathy for his family. Thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. Never met Ryan but having hung around on this list forever it's one of those names/email addresses that I know. Unfortunately never got chance to meet him. robin... The thing about Ryan, though, is that there was no one I ever met who loved good techno and house music more -- it was the one abiding passion in his life. He led a pretty messy, chaotic life but when you talked to him about music he could become focused and enthusiastic. When he did, he'd get a little grin and a faraway look in his eyes. I know next to nothing about his family or personal life, and hadn't spoken to him for nearly a year. But if you want to pay respect to him, next time you drop Shades of Jae -- probably his most prized possesion and top track -- take a moment to nod your head, because if there is a heaven, Ryan will be nodding right along with you.

That's awful news. As Kent said he has always had his share of problems, and was at times infuriating because of them, but your love for the guy always pulled through because of his passion for the music and his sense of humour. He would get so geeked when we'd have an exciting guest come through town. I can remember wandering through the pedestrian mall on a Saturday afternoon in Iowa City, bumping into Ryan and DJ Bone, sitting on a bench having just been in the Record Collector. That's got to be my favourite image of him - chatting about techno with one of his heroes and getting ready to see him play on home turf, fresh out of the record store. It looks like a myspace obit page has been set up: http://www.myspace.com/djryanburns. 28 years ain't enough. Tristan === http://www.phonopsia.co.uk [EMAIL PROTECTED]

(313) speaking of Convextion...
i've stumbled across a double CD on Soulseek that is, allegedly, done by Convextion (promo CD with 6 tracks on each CD), so i was wondering if theese are really Convextion tracks or is this some sort of trick. any help? --

These may well be illegal copies of the misappropriated tracks 'hacked' from the dl server some years ago... -Original Message- From: Ivan Tomasevic [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 21 December 2006 14:03 To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: (313) speaking of Convextion... i've stumbled across a double CD on Soulseek that is, allegedly, done by Convextion (promo CD with 6 tracks on each CD), so i was wondering if theese are really Convextion tracks or is this some sort of trick. any help? --

they are. and we have repeatedly asked people to respect the artist's wishes and not share his unreleased demo's on p2p. if you see these files, please show some integrity and just leave them alone. i know most people will succumb to their own curiosity and think it's harmless to download them, no one will know...but no. NOT COOL. anyone who downloads these files is sharing a part of the robbery with the thief who originally nabbed them off our server. -Original Message- From: Odeluga, Ken [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Dec 21, 2006 9:06 AM To: list 313 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) speaking of Convextion... Re: (313) Convextion album now on iTunes
I never saw this site before, but it looks promising. I'm thinking about grabbing some of my fav Mr De electrobooty from there, it's easier to download than to rip the records I already own. I'll buy good digital versions of tracks even if I already own them. Especially since both my 1200's are broken and sitting in the corner. I really hope they might put some more UR classics for sale. It would be nice if they could expand their selection... ~David On 12/21/06, robin [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Stewart Caig wrote: Whilst we are on the subject has anyone ever ordered anything from detroitdigitalvinyl.com?
