(313) Another radio show you may like!
A good friend of mine has been doing a radio show at another station here in Connecticut for several years now. Some of you old school 313ers may remember him as a regular guest on the Hillbilly House show here in CT some years ago. I have been trying to get him to post info about his show on 313 for quite some time now but it is just not in his nature... so I am doing it for him. 'Technovisions' with O.L. From The Basement Alternating Wednesday nights. (Next show is tomorrow night, June 13) 7:30 to 10:30 eastern US time (GMT-5:00) Streaming audio is available at www.wrtcfm.com For what it's worth, I highly recommend his show. Orrin has been playing Detroit stuff since day one. I count OL as one of the people who got me interested in radio and shaped my tastes in music. Please give him a listen, you won't be dissapointed! -ant-

Great production for sure - I'll have to figure out if I'm going to pick my faves based on the samples or try to get the whole thing. Great work, DL! Bvl *** Just get the whole thing man! You know that's what you really want to do already! :) Ken

Re: (313) Carl Craig heads-up
It's some exclusive versions of tracks on his upcoming Tribe project. He reassembled the existing Tribe members at his studio along with John Arnold and Karriem Riggins (and others?) to make some new tracks in the the spirit of the original Tribe recordings. Apologies to those that already know, but Tribe was a 70s jazz collective from Detroit on a similar tip to Black Jazz, Strata East etc. They released some amazing records that are now heavy collectors pieces. Re: (313) Chicago happenings?
Not sure about what's going on since I don't live there, but I know I'll be playing there July 3rd with Derek Plaslaiko and DJ Funk. (313) short video interview with Aaron Carl
While at DEMF this year I had the opportunity to pull Aaron Carl away from his kiosk and have a brief interview with him. I'm always curious to know what songs inspire artists I appreciate, partly because I'll go looking for that track, and partly because I think alot of ppl out there might want to know as well. I also like to know what sort of gear or production they might want to share as an idea to look into... I asked Aaron both these questions and was more then impressed with his response. Thought it might be interesting to some of us on the list. Give it a view if you're curious: http://www.lx7.ca/?q=node/349 I wanted to also thank Aaron for being fun and jumping in and letting me interview him without much prompting or planning. Not sure if he's on the list, but I know a couple of ppl who talk to him regularly are... I don't have his direct contact so if you could, please pass the info along. Thanks. Verg.

(313) even more carl craig
CC did an epic-length remix of Junior Boys' Like A Child that's available on either a remix EP, or as a bonus disk on the So This Is Goodbye CD. I'm of two minds about this -- I always like tracks that unfold slow like this one, and it has that essential Carl Craig quality of pushing tracky repetition as far as he can without getting boring. What bothers me about it is that the vocal samples from the original track aren't to my ears in the proper key for the stuff CC did. Luckily the last 6 minutes or so drops the vocal and it's just a Carl Craig track.
