I enjoyed his Detroit performances, actually -- consistent if a bit noodle-y at times. And the db version of Voodoo Ray was a real standout. Voodoo Ray has pretty good staying power. Just listen to the other so-called anthems of that time :) fh - robin wrote: On 4 Sep 2007, at 09:23, Wojtek wrote: ...are up now at http://infinitestatemachine.com Despite loving earlier Gerald records he lost me when he went in the direction of drum and bass and has never really regained the level he previously had. To be honest, I'm still glad someone's saying it to the masses cause at the end of the day no matter if he's the most insincere cat alive, someones bound to take him seriously (in his case legions probably) and that can't hurt with a good message. What I was saying though, is that if it WAS about setting an example, he'd probably have been doing that in other ways a long time ago. It's more likely due to some recent epiphany/guilt complex. But who knows really though eh? Could be that he really still feels that his mailing list is family and therefore feels free to be open with these things as he wouldn't with another audience (and that's just dandy). Just a couple cents. What he does in his personal life is really his business, it's his body he can do with it as he wishes. The above two paragraphs suppose a lot of things you know. When I read the mail, I just thought he was making an effort, in the same context as taking the labels off of cans before I put the in the recycling bin or our studio saving up ten bags of paper to pulp. How much good it will do is another matter, what with all the industrial pollution that goes on. And the view? Absolute crap man, you wouldn't believe the clouds blowing around up here. :) :) m K -Original Message- From: Martin Dust [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, September 04, 2007 6:04 PM To: Stoddard, Kamal Cc: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: (313) Global Wierding He's a DJ not the Pope, what's the view like from up there fella? ;)

Futuresonic 2008 Urban Festival of Art, Music and Ideas 1-4 May 2008 Manchester UK In 2008, the Futuresonic festival will once again be in May, with the focus weekend 1-4 May. An annual festival of art, music and ideas, which is currently in its 12th year, Futuresonic occupies the orbits of both music and digital culture. Futuresonic now invites artists, thinkers and makers to get social and present new types of collaborative social experience at Futuresonic 2008. This is a time when we see how electronic communication can isolate us, as more and more people drown in a deluge of email that generates stress, even reducing IQ; and it is 40 years since people took to the streets of Paris in 1968 calling for society to be abolished. Join us as we go in search of the social today. Web 2.0... I take part you take part he takes part we take part you all take part they profit. (313) notice to instant gratification junkies about Deepchord The Coldest Season
After reading the interview with Deepchord on Textura ( http://tinyurl.com/27e6rm ) I googled around and found that Boomkat has The Coldest Season for sale as an MP3 download. I suppose it would sound better off of vinyl over a $50,000 system that uses modulated gas jets for tweeters, but the 320kbs mp3s sound really nice as well. My impression of it: the music on this CD is devestatingly simple, but these guys ring more drama out of white noise and vague bass than I ever thought possible. It's like a dream where you're floating in clouds. The exception being 'Hyperean' which is a deliciously blunted reggae instrumental that I will be playing out at the earliest opportunity...
Re: (313) Global Wierding
Forget the Pope!!! Imagine the Ultimate Power Richie and Tony Robbins would have if they worked together and threw an event... or even better... started a Tour. They could help ppl achieve their peak performance AND save the planet. Actually... now that I think of it... that would be really impressive. I can already see the flyer for it: --==-- Decks and Carbon Effects --==-- DJ turn Motivational Environmental Speaker Richie Hawtin performing live. ~ between mixes Richie challenges you with his world saving environmental plans ~ take the carbon footprint mash-up challenge ~ join the solution, face the dj, and learn about climate change {performances by} Tony Robbins - Personal Power Al Gore - Environmental Change - North American Performances Opera Dr. Phil - back to back - European Performances TBA

I missed the loft party unfortunately, but his set at The Works on friday before the fest was definitely better than the main stage one Mon. night. Re: (313) this MINUS climate change BS
This is the same This is to big for me to do anything about so I won't even try attitude that let bush get elected. TWICE!! In Canada there is this Any little bit helps environmental thing happening. I know that if I save $0.30 in electricity a year by changing 1 light bulb to florescent it doesn't make a big deal but if everyone changed one bulb... Abbie Hoffman is rolling in his grave o
