(313) Delsin track

2008-02-12 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
All quiet on 313 last few days so I'll fire a slew of questions out ;-)
I guess I could just send this to Marsel but maybe to the list is nice as it
highlights what a roll Delsin are on at the moment.
In my usual lack-of-time tardy way I only got to listen to the "Delsin New
Season Winter 2007" mix
(http://www.delsin.org/audio/DelsinNewSeasonMixWinter2007.mp3)
recently, really enjoying this, I think I want to get everything that's coming
out!
I'm not sure if a track list went up when the mix got posted on here
originally, if it did can someone forward it to me?
If not I'd at least like to know what track it is that kicks in at about 26
mins and can you tell us when it will be available sir?
(if it isn't already).

(313) and my next question is......

2008-02-12 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
mainly directed at UK 313ers I think as the answer may be different elsewhere
but until we go global ( ;-) I guess I'm interested on
the situation here on home soil:

MySpace vs. Facebook

I've been wanting to do a MySpace page for our night for ages as, although we
have our own site, it seemed like that was the way
many people communicated. I didn't want to start it until I was good and ready
as I was afraid I couldn't handle the probable time
drain otherwise. In the meantime, in common with many people I've spoken to, I
accidentally joined Facebook when I received one of
their "such-and-such says you're their friend, just click on this link to
confirm it or they'll know you didn't and weep for a
yearooops you just joined Facebook (sinister laugh)" mails.
Since then I've been seduced and enjoy being on it, putting photos up, seeing
what friends are up to etc (though it takes a good
deal of time). But I still thought the right way forward was to have a
Facebook page for me and a MySpace page for our night. So
recently I joined up under a pseudonym so I could start a group. I then spoke
to various friends who I thought were well into it
and said "give me some pointers on how best to do this thing". To my surprise
I received the reply "oh MySpace is over now, nobody
uses it anymore, just do it on Facebook". This is fine for me if true as I've
become confident with Facebook (I'll do us a group
there anyway as it's a doddle) where I'm scared of MySpace. My impression was
MySpace was still used by creative types (for example
I thought a band would still have a MySpace rather than Facebook page) but this
lot I asked are well into spending time on these
things and I know were big on MySpace but now aren't. What do people think?

From what i gathered over the years just reading news about
the RIAA etc fighting piracy, it seems to be limited to
major labels only.

regarding putting content online safely without incurring in
bots or spiders etc, one solution i have seen is to flash,
but an image will suffice.

Putting that stuff up about mixes brought to mind to ask
what people think about whether PRS / RIAA etc. do have
robots searching song titles / artists on sites - and
whether or that includes small label stuff? I've always
been cautious about this since the PRS people got heavy
with Robin so I don't put up tracklists and try to do
charts as picture files. I just put a last year chart for
Mark and I up on the site and it doesn't look too hot, I'd
really like to do it like the rest of our site, not as a
.gif.

Safe or not?

(313) mixes, house and chill > disco

2008-02-12 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
And just to show it's not all take from me today here's some give :-)
I'm just updating our site www.thatamazingthing.com. Haven't got round to the
important stuff yet; news of our forthcoming parties
- but there'll be news of 2 or 3 going up soon.
Meanwhile on the "sounds" page there's new music, a mix from me in 3 parts, I
put the first up ages ago and promised to do the
others soon but am late as usual.  I'll put the tracklisting for all 3 below;
it's a mostly chilled affair moving up to gentle house
and disco at the end.
Also a mix from my DJ partner, Mark
http://www.thatamazingthing.com/Mixes/MarkFeb08.mp3 . He usually plays across
the board too but
recently he's been on a real house and techno tip (I think I've corrupted him,
he played hip-hop and reggae when we started out!)
this is a straight up mix from warm sounds through to a bit of the good end of
current tech edged, I don't have a tracklist yet but
will put one up if I do.

Re: (313) Robots & tracklistings / charts

2008-02-12 Thread kent williams
I don't think that there are many underground dance labels that are
directly or indirectly affiliated with the RIAA. If you go to the
RIAA website they have a long list of labels under the heading
'Distributed Labels of Reporting Companies':

http://www.riaa.com/aboutus.php?content_selector=aboutus_members

They claim many members that are not actually members, and they don't
keep the list up to date. Apparently if any of your products end up
being distributed by an RIAA-affiliated distributor, the RIAA claims
you. In practie, the policy direction and benefits of memebership
come from and go to the big 4 exclusively.
