The soundtrack...I've never seen the film that the
song is from, but that track is horrifying. I need
it, any ideas where I can pick it up on LP?

(313) Placid goes Back to 89

2008-07-18 Thread Placid
Everybody has different expectation of what a Back to ??? mix should
contain. The Stone Cold classics, even though you've heard them a
hundred times.. you don't mind hearing them for the hundred and first.

Then theres the personal favourites that you remember from the time,
that you associate with different times and places. These are the tracks
which personalise the mix for me.

anyways.. The mix is at http://mezerik.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=272

Marshall Jeferson / Truth - Open your eyes (F knuckles mix) - FFRR
Mondee Oliver - Stay Close - 4th and Broadway
Joe Smooth - I'll BeThere - DJ International
Brandon Cooke feat Roxanne Shante - Sharp as a Knife - Club
Octagon Man - Free-er than Free - Vinyl Solution
The Night Writers - Let the Music (use you) - Danica
Total Science - Just A Little Bit - Jumpin' and Pumpin'
Fingers Inc - Music Take Me Up - Jack Trax
Alternations - Feel it for You - RCA
Risque III - Essence of a Dream - Stride
Cultural Vibe - Ma Foom Bey - Easy Street
Rickster - Night Moves - Sound Pak
JD - I ain't gonna wait - Requestline
Sha-lor - Im in Love - Gertie
Jamie Principle - Your Love - Hot Tracks
Fallout - The Morning After - Fourth Floor
Total Maddness - The Sounds in Da air - Dopewax
The Lincoln Boys - Get up , Get Down - Dance Mania
Frankie Knuckles Presents Satoshi Tomiie - Tears - FFRR
Bang the Party - Bang Bang You're Mine - Warriors Dance
Baby Ford - Crashing - Rhythm King
Inner City - Ain't Nobdy better - 10
A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray - Rham
New Blood - Touch Me (Te Queiro) - Smokin'

I did have Definition of a track, Can you feel it, Searchin' Hard,
Kariya, Dionne etc all lined up but I had to fit it all in 2 hours.

Done in one take, using 2 x 1210's - 270mb @320kbps

Enjoy

if you have never seen the thing it is an awesome movie from the 80s

(313) Raiders of the Dark Beyond The Dark Remixes

2008-07-18 Thread kent williams
I think this release is brilliant:

http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=65270

The original is lush, but the remixes are by Galaxy2Galaxy and DJ S2,
and bring the Detroit funk. In perusing the 313 archives (so I don't
look like a complete chump) -- the S2 remix has been around since
Santiago put it on his 2005 mix CD. The 12 is from last year, but
Boomkat just added it for Mp3/Flac download release.

The Raiders of the Lost Arp Album Arrival and Tema5 are pretty sweet as well.

There used to be a lot of talk about the Berlin/Detroit axis how about
the Italy/Detroit axis? ;-) Raiders of the Lost Arp's home label
Final Frontier is Italian but I imagine the name came as much from UR
as Star Trek.

I think her Radiosonic album was reissued recently as well. At least,
the copy I saw looked well taken care of and that just does not happen
to old records in a radio station.

Really?

So that's why the creator of the video posted this on the youtube page:

Directed by Simon Gesrel and Xavier Ehretsmann thanks to their favourite
toys... the GI Joes !
The video is an hommage to the director AND soundtrack composer John
Carpenter,
especially one of his masterpieces : THE THING.

Final Frontier and UR/Submerge have had a very close relationship
since the early days (early 90's) If i'm not mistaken Marco Passarani,
was heavily involved in getting UR releases out to the Italians via
his distribution co.

UR played live as Timeline for Final Frontier's 10th anniversary in
Rome a few years back... this was one hell of a show!
