(313) Florence Wladimir M. - The vineyard Evil remixes

2009-05-21 Thread Klaas-Jan Jongsma

Hi,

Some of you might find this somewhat interesting. We let a bunch of
friends remix the first 2 eevolute releases. Some of the remixers are
Arne Weinberg, Beat Pharmacy, Baby Ford, Convextion and Mark Archer
from Nexus 21/Altern8 fame.

I hope you enjoy:

Florence Wladimir M. - The vineyard Evil remixes

We proudly present the first full album release on EevoNext
Recordings. It is the perfect bridge between the past and the future,
this being an excellent remix album of two classics on the label.
Florence's 'US heritage' and Wladimir M.'s 'As the leaves fall' were
restored and remastered last year and released on vinyl and digitally.
We retrieved some of the original music parts, supplied them to an
international group of friends and producers we admire, and they came
up with 10 excellent remixes of the tracks 'Evil' and 'The Vineyard'.
The melancholy and vocals inspired the remixers to produce a wide
range of great music to listen and dance to. We also found an
unreleased remix by Peter Ford we restored, remastered and added to
sum this album up. Featured are dub master Brendon Moeller aka Beat
Pharmacy, NewScottsMan Mr. Arne Weinberg, EevoNext member The
Moderator, Dutch techno heroes Duplex, Barcelona man Dave Tarrida,
London's Justin Berkovi, deep Germans Neurotron, Ravemaster 'Altern8
aka Nexus21' Mark Archer, Peter 'Baby' Ford and lone islanders 'Skye
Radio' who close in true dubstyle.

The original recordings for these tracks were made in 1991. First
vinyls appeared soon after, but only last year, in 2008, a limited
edition of remastered editions was done. Florence is an alter ego of
label founder and musician Terrace aka Stefan Robbers. When originally
released, Florence started where Terrace stopped with an approach that
electronic music can not only be danced upon, but also be listened
too. Taking American dance music as a start, the results represent a
kind of evolution that explains that everybody has qualities inside,
just one should try to explore them. Wladimir M. founded Eevo Lute
Muzique together with his friend Stefan Robbers. He was sometimes
described as the conscience of the label and its artists, something he
expresses in poems, lyrics and art. He is also an active visual artist
and creates urban on locations you wouldn't expect. Together with
music producer Stefan Robbers he created this and many other
electronic compositions, where the influence of great minds is taken
into a new, unexplainable direction.

(313) Message from our man from Rotterdam.

2009-05-21 Thread kent williams
This bounced due to the ever popular 'plain text only' rule. But man,
this is from Otto!

Otto was my very kind host when I visited Rotterdam almost 10 years
ago, and is one of the OG Techno Tourists. One of my peak DEMF
experiences was the Larry Heard/Moodyman party years back, and a peak
part of that party was seeing Otto, completely drenched in sweat and
so happy to be there that I was afraid he was going to spontaneously
combust ...

After a slightly-longer-than-planned-absence (ahem...) from 313 and DEMF,
I'm looking forward to going to the festival this year, hear great music and
catching up with many old friends that I haven't seen for way too long. I'm
arriving in 313 Sat. morning/early afternoon, drop me a line if you want to
catch up. I look forward to seeing everyone again!

I'm sure once he's back from DEMF, all enthused that won't be that hard.

Ahhh. That party was one of my best DEMF experiences as well. It was the
definition of a hot box.

Hey, they're all coming out of the shadows now! Was that the party
with the crazy sound system and the single blue lightbulb at one end
of the room? Larry Heard was playing lots of incredible acid stuff as
I remember...and possibly something terrible like Anastasia too :)

Yeah, that was a party alright

Oh yeah! That party *still* puts a huge smile on my face. Packed right
from when it started until 6am in the morning. Pure darkness, the only
light being a desk lamp that was barely enough for the DJs to see what
they were putting on, which was a house set to rival the best nights
at Body Soul. File alongside Rolando's set during the UR afterparty
@ Johansen Gallery, DEMF 2001. Utterly legendary.

Yeah, that was blatantly one of the best parties ever. It was definitely
the best party I'd ever attended at the time. IIRC it was the debut of
KDJ30, or at least it was around that weekend and hearing Moodymann play
it at the Detroit Contemporary was amazing. All of a sudden I wish I was
going to DEMF this year.

Welcome back Otto!
