(313) new Terrence Dixon remix now online

2009-10-30 Thread Andrew Duke Cognition Audioworks new email address
Apologies to Kent for being one of the folks who
forgot to send as plain text;

Just added a remix from Terrence Dixon to
http://soundcloud.com/andrewdukecognitionaudio

Other 313 content there includes remixes from
Claude Young, Orlando Voorn, and Detroit People Mover.
Soon come is a remix from K-HAND.

There's remixes also up there from listmembers
Chaircrusher and Area, and also a remix I did for
Tristan "Phonopsia" Watkins.

Thanks.
Andrew

(313) The 313 list REQUIRES all E-Mails to be in PLAIN TEXT FORMAT

2009-10-30 Thread kent williams
Today was a day when it seems like 3/4 of the posts to the 313 list
got bounced to ME because they were 'multi-part MIME' messages.

Plain text, people -- it's not just a good idea, it's the law!

And yes I know it's easy to screw up, but it's also not impossible to
CHECK the formatting flags before you hit SEND.

Re: (313) Huzzah for Serato

2009-10-30 Thread Arturo Lopez
Yea, now I look and act like a trance DJ; I just stare blankly at the
bpm's in Serato, cue them all up, and then go make a sandwich between
mixes. hehe.

Sarcasm aside, I could see how the system could be a huge crutch if
this is what someone learns to mix on. There is already a huge
temptation to stay in computer-land all the time and all the crates at
my feet start occupying less mental space when I'm thinking about what
comes next. Will be interesting to get used to.

As for the colored vinyl, if they make some of that sweet
purple-tye-dye like on those Echospace 12"'s, I'm all about it!

And what's this "loss-less" I keep hearing about? 96 kps mono mp3s are
the state of the art in quality, people :)

Apparently the hot new thing is collecting the variety of colored
Serato control vinyls.

I'll trade you 2 green for one gray marbled.

Posted a while back about Serato vs Traktor, just wanted to say I
finally picked up Serato and a new laptop yesterday and could not be
happier. I know I'm late to that particular party, but it still blows
my mind that I can load up any .mp3 and then play it on my turntables;
the precision is quite amazing. Thanks to everyone who emailed me
with advise. I also just bought a new web domain and I'll start
putting up some off the beaten path mixes before too long.
