On most of the stages, they put the performers really far back this year, and the media pass was separate from the media stage pass. Cheers, Jacob
Re: (313) DEMF Post-Op Thoughts
Jacob, I enjoyed your reports too. I'm impressed with your speediness at getting posts up!! It was great to meet you this weekend. Sorry to hear about the media pass distinctions. I didn't realize that. The stages were much emptier this year. I think the artists were complaining last year about too many people up on the stages. So I'm glad they took care of that this year. Although, how I would love to just be able to be right up there with my face up close to all the instruments - esp Moritz von Oswald trio - to be able to actually see what I was hearing. I'm slowly getting my act together. Just put my first festival post up last night. I'll be adding bits nightly for the next little while. http://denisedjsdetroit.blogspot.com/2010/06/movement-festival-2010-happiness.html I'm beginning to accept the fact that I have more fun outside of Hart Plaza than inside. But that's fine. Plenty of good music to enjoy this year at the festival. Moritz von Oswald Trio was excellent. Got to see Carl Craig play modular synth twice in one weekend! I don't have much time to write much more at the moment, got to get working on other stuff...like a dissertation. With this show begins a new era. I finally bought Traktor Scratch a few weeks back. I know I'm very late to the game but I must say that it's quite nice having my entire collection at my disposal. I'm also happy that my show has regained that fluid feel that it once had. I'm still getting acquainted with the nuances of using the system at my radio station so, for the moment, please bear with me. -ant- Planned guests for the next few weeks: More guests TBA... Re: (313) DEMF Post-Op Thoughts
I only went to the festival Saturday… and I could see the way things were headed so I chose to skip it the rest of the weekend, and instead hit TV Bar Sunday during the day, and Old Miami on Monday. I must say I have no regrest with my decision… TV Bar was pretty good when I arrived though it died out a bit early as people headed to the festival. But the Old Miami day party just has a vibe that nothing else during the weekend seems to replicate, and I quite enjoyed the music there this year too, it seems to be quite a bit better than it was last year. The previously mnml guys seem to be coming around, and to my ears the tracks being played now actually have a pretty nice house vibe and some funk to them. The Hot Natured disco party may have also been good, as it was pretty fun last year, but sadly I was too tired to catch it. ~David
