Re: (313) Acid Didj @ Paxahau
Didn't Paxahau stream the festival live on the internet? So I would guess that it has been recorded already, but not edited. Soon, I hope. Re: (313) ANOTHER Mills album (and the future of Music Formats??)
You're not wrong at all Francis - you have to place it on the turntable spindle as close to centered as you can and yes, there's only a small usable area for the music - think it might be about 5 mins worth - the grooves seem very tight but I was suprised by how good it all sounded. You might have difficulty with a semi-automatic turntable that switches off at the end of a side. Not so good for scratching and quick cuts then! cheers Jason On 9 June 2010 11:27, fran...@thatamazingthing.com wrote: I'm a little puzzled about some of the technical details also: What size is the hole in the middle? I make a CD to be only just larger than the label area on a conventional modern record. So either it only has a few seconds playing time or (more likely) it has a playable groove extending further toward the centre of the disc? But not all tone arms will move this far, some only expect to get as far as the run out groove of conventional vinyl and their range doesn't extend beyond that. I'd like to think that the extra weight on the spinner in the CD player would cause the electric motor to burn up slowly...especially the older ones. Those CD players were designed to handle the weight of a CD, not a CD/record. Then again the CD/DVD combos seem to work ok in their players even though they are thicker. --Original Message-- From: ja...@iridite.com Sender: irid...@gmail.com To: 313 list Subject: (313) ANOTHER Mills album (and the future of Music Formats??) I've been a bit too scared to put the CD in my computer to listen to the album (it looks a wee bit thicker than a normal CD but that could be an illusion) so I can't give any reports on it yet! cheers Jason Sent via BlackBerry by ATT

Just thinking about his set makes me wiggle :) I did sneak away a few times to check out Derrick Carter. His set was good, but Rolando had me hooked so I couldn't stay away for long. The Gods have smiled on this man. Skills like his makes me wonder if the ability to DJ is genetic because I've been focusing on that for 10 years and Im convinced I'll never be on par with him; even on a good night. Out of curiosity was he on vinyl? Thanks for the write up. I havent been since 05, its nice to know its still worth the trip.
