Re: (313) acoustic jazz strings of life?
This is probably why they avoided more covers on their last album. They had one of the best music blogs. I miss it :( On Tue, Dec 20, 2011 at 13:24, kent williams wrote: > I think that for it to work, out-of-genre covers of classics need to be more > than the musical equivalent of stunt casting. I think that for it to work, out-of-genre covers of classics need to be more than the musical equivalent of stunt casting. That's why I have a hard time with bands like The Bad Plus. They play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" but I'd rather hear them play "On Green Dolphin Street." Yeah, I checked Can You Feel It, Strings didn't totally work for me, but I was indeed feeling the Fingers cover. I actually have messed around with similar covers here and there, I think that we can expect to hear even more overlap between acoustic and electronic genres in the future. There are some potentially interesting things that have not yet been tried, in my opinion... ~David On Tue, Dec 20, 2011 at 8:09 AM, Benn Glazier wrote: > Pressed send too quickly.., I think Strings is good but not the best on the > album. Re: (313) acoustic jazz strings of life?
I've often thought a straight transcription of Strings of Life for string orchestra and piano would be cool. The string parts are easy enough that high school orchestras could perform it.

Pressed send too quickly.., I think Strings is good but not the best on the album. Probably Claire and Can You Feel It are my faves. Well worth a listen and IMHO better than the follow up album. Re: (313) acoustic jazz strings of life?
Hi Kent! I don't know if it is the very first jazz version of strings.. but I can say that I saw it coming from a long time. Personally speaking I liked it, but I think that some songs shouldn't be touched. I'm affraid that we will listen to this version in every venue, every lounge, everywhere, from here. Thanks for sharing it. I thoroughly enjoyed Drum Lesson Vol.1. Saw them play at 10 Days Off in '08 and thought they were one of the best artists I saw there.
