(313) Outlet Collective recordings

2013-05-23 Thread Paul Kendrick
Here are the first recordings I have found from our Outlet Collective parties,
I still haven't found the Substance live set or the UR DJ sets. I'll keep
looking

Tony did our Christmas party and asked if he could play what ever he wanted,
which was fine by us. So it's got a fair few classics on it, Chi & 313, as well
as some unusual tracks for Surgeon to play, like Yoko Ono, some instrumental
disco track that I can't place but defo know, a few reggae tracks and a mad
Black Sabbath edit near the end.
The link says part 2, but it's the whole set, part 1 are the warm up sets.
Surgeon, December 2005
http://www.sendspace.com/file/7ks6tt

Terrace did a live set for us and Stefan stayed for a few days to hang out
after he had some fun stories to tell regarding Derrick May & Carl Craig.
Towards the end of the live set there's a full on 303 assault as Stefan's
partner in the Acid Junkies was also at the party and jump up on stage and
started playing with Stefan, which was a cool surprise.

This link is for Terrance Parker who we brought over and promoted the party as
Outlet Collective presents the RUCK, with a few other people involved in the
promotion to help.
TP was excellent and I don't think the recording does the set justice, I've
been told by people that this was one of the fave Outlet parties. As you would
think he goes all over the place and shows his skills off to the max, 2 copies
of loads of records, he gives a little talk at the end too, which was fun.

I do remember the Substance live set was a world debut. I asked him on the day
of the party to play for longer than a standard one hour which seems to be the
norm, he was more than happy to do his, I think its 1 hour 30/40 mins long.

Yep Rob I think you were at most for sure, from memory which was your fave?

Parties I really enjoyed were one with Surgeon, TP, Ian O'Brien, Dan Bell and
the one where Nick Wilson headlined playing all the stuff that's now being
released;

2013-05-23 Thread Rob Taylor
Ooh what a question.
Despite all the amazing well-known guests, I think the best party was one
at the Rhythm Factory in which you played some ace disco and house to warm
up, Nick Craddock and Rick Hopkins played some banging tunes (DJ HMC's LSD
being a particular highlight), and Haze finished off the night with an epic
eclectic set, despite being under the weather with flu at the time. I
remember going mental when he played Skinny Puppy's Assimilate!

That Surgeon party was amazing too, despite Nick Wilson breaking my
disco finger in a fit of Xmassy exhuberance!

RE: (313) Outlet Collective recordings

2013-05-23 Thread Paul Kendrick
Rick Hopkins also played 'Davina-Don't you want it' that night, and if memory
serves Haze was really, really ill and started his set with Run DMC as
Jam-Master Jay had just been shot.

Sets we didn't record but wish we had were, Monolake Live, Scion Live, Sleep
Achieve Live, Wild Planet Live, Ian O'Brien and Dan Bell (he asked not to be
recorded).

Ooh what a question.
Despite all the amazing well-known guests, I think the best party was one at
the Rhythm Factory in which you played some ace disco and house to warm up,
Nick Craddock and Rick Hopkins played some banging tunes (DJ HMC's LSD being a
particular highlight), and Haze finished off the night with an epic eclectic
set, despite being under the weather with flu at the time. I remember going
mental when he played Skinny Puppy's Assimilate!

That Surgeon party was amazing too, despite Nick Wilson breaking my disco
finger in a fit of Xmassy exhuberance!

I lurk, but rarely contribute anymore, so here is a little something for the
313 list. Just remember if you're going to Movement (DEMF) that Detroit is
the home of this music and there would be no festival if it was not for the

some instrumental disco track that I can’t place but defo know, a few
reggae tracks and a mad Black Sabbath edit near the end.** **

The link says part 2, but it’s the whole set, part 1 are the warm up
 sets.

Terrace did a live set for us and Stefan stayed for a few days to hang
out after he had some fun stories to tell regarding Derrick May & Carl
Craig. Towards the end of the live set there’s a full on 303 assault as
Stefan’s partner in the Acid Junkies was also at the party and jump up
on stage and started playing with Stefan, which was a cool surprise.**

This link is for Terrance Parker who we brought over and promoted the
party as Outlet Collective presents the RUCK, with a few other people
involved in the promotion to help.

TP was excellent and I don’t think the recording does the set justice,
I’ve been told by people that this was one of the fave Outlet parties. As
you would think he goes all over the place and shows his skills off to the
max, 2 copies of loads of records, he gives a little talk at the end too,
 which was fun.** **

Re: (313) Giorgio Moroder Deep Space NY 2013 1st ever DJ Set

2013-05-23 Thread Frank Glazer
I can't help but point out that based on several videos I've seen it appears
that Moroder was little more than a hand waving crowd controller, with an
assistant performing the actual DJing tasks. Not that it really makes a hill of
beans of difference.
