Re: Charivari
Yes, tons of goodness. One of my fave new DJs, The AM, has just been added to the lineup for Wednesday. TIL The AM and Ash Lauryn are sisters. Really enjoying this. While the sets are prerecorded, the chat is pretty good (I measure that by the number of times the word or emoji for "fire" comes up per hour, and it's reasonably low here) and each set comes up three times in an 8-hour rotation. Ash Lauryn, Norm Talley and especially Delano Smith were really good yesterday. Right now liking Walter Glasshouse, who I haven't seen before, as he mixes in what sounds like a remake of one of my fave Ron Trent tracks, I Feel the Rhythm. Also caught bits of the Detroit Electronic Music Conference last week, including Stacey Hotwaxx Hale talking with the vocal trio Dames Brown, and Mike Fotias from Paxahau/Audio Rescue Team with a chalk talk on audio basics. The bad part of the current crisis is nearly everything, but the good part is participating at least a bit in things I couldn't be at otherwise. fh - >Odd havenât seen much about this here. New Robert Hood & Floorplan
Robert Hood did a great DJ set July 20 for Boiler Room's Streaming From Isolation series. There were some who didn't get why a Black man might get political and just wanted wanted him to play instrumental music; the negative comments on the mix's YouTube link are certainly telling in many ways. Now looks like the times where he was playing samples of activists speaking could have been him debuting new material; he has 3 new songs out soon (details in the link); one features Tamika Mallory speaking about George Floyd's murder and another has the voice of the late great Dick Gregory. (I have featured samples from the later in live performances often): https://www.residentadvisor.net/news/73183
