Re: (313) shanghai....any info?
HI fab, I have been there a couple of times for work. I have not found any record shops. The clubs there do not play techno maybe some house music. I think Mike Grant, Laurent Garnier might have played there before but i do not remember which clubs are they. It is just dodgy pubs for tourists but not for music purveryors in Shanghai. There might be an underground music scene there but i have not got in touch with like minded people there yet. Regards Collin - Original Message - From: fab. Re: (313) OT: Xone32 Vs DJM 500
Hi all, What about Behringer DJX-700 mixer? It is half the price with the same effects. Am planning to get that when i get some cash. That mixer looks like value for money. Regards, Collin. - Original Message - From: Gary Robinson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Friday, September 12, 2003 7:56 PM Subject: (313) OT: Xone32 Vs DJM 500 Sorry for the off topic post, but I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on these two mixers. I'm undecided whether to go for Pioneer DJM 500 with built in FX, or the Allen Heath Xone:32 which I've heard is more durable and has a much better sound. If anyone has used either of these and has any advice before I go and check them out, it would be appreciated. Please reply off list. Cheers Gary

Re: [313] oscar mulero
HI Cyclone and all, There was a mix-CD in 1998 that someone at Hardware talked me into buying - it was good, entitled About Discipline Education and with tracks by Mills, Ho, Surgeon and the like. Actually I bought it to get the Mills track Cyclone, so nice that Jeff and Technasia are writing songs about me. ;) oo-- He has one more mixed CD released late last year called Era on Rxxistance Records, Madrid which is better than the earlier one released on So Dens Records. Have fun! RE: [313] new zealand techno
Hi Emma, my name's Emma Kelly, I'm a masters student from Auckland University, NZ. I'm writing my thesis this year on location, identity and dance music (primarily techno) in Auckland and Detroit, and am currently looking for interview subjects. I'm going to be in Detroit for the Electronic Music Festival as well as visiting NY and Chicago late may early june and would really like to do some interviews with techno supporters. Preferably those who DJ, produce or promote, but die hard fans are always helpful too. If you'd prefer, I'm also doing interviews via email and would really appreciate the chance to interview some of you. So if you're interested please contact me ASAP. oo-- How about a NZ techno stage to showcase some proper techno from that part of the world like Micronism/Denver McCarthy and Clone??? That will be ace!! Have a nice week ahead! I wish i could make it to DEMF this year but See you guys if you are going to Sonar Your techno friend in Singapore, Collin PACfusion.comhttp//www.pacfusion.com - Living Made Easy

Re: [313] Trach ID
HI Bart, Greetings from SIngapore I really would like to know what this record is: The lyrics (vocoder like) goes like: ??? I also like to freak, every night, I turn you on I am after this record as well. It is very very very hard to get hold of here in SIngapore and the shops cannot even bring in one copy of this wicked record. It is 'Automatic Freak' by Semblance Factor on Tension Records. Have fun looking for it! Regards from your techno friend in SINgapore, Collin Chen
Re: (313) Discographies
Hey Tim and all, Greetings from Singapore! Talking of second albums, heard from Russ Gabriel that he has finally finished the follow-up to the inspired Voltage Control. I'd like to take a straw-poll of Ferox fans on the list (and GPR for that matter). How many of you actually got to hear this brilliant piece of work. And how many of you have been eagerly awaiting a second album from him over the last five years? I have been eagerly waiting for his followup release to that for bloody ages. I have been trying to get hold of every single release from GPR. They are ow defunct but i must say they did release some awesome techno records back then like the 7th Plain releases that are timeless recordings by Luke Slater! Well i think we miss those wonderful articles by you on Generator was it back in 1994. I must say it is the better techno mags back then besides Jockey Slut back then till probably Magic Feet came on and carried on the techno flag flying in Bligthy. Days of 93 to 05 were spent reading such mags and going out to Orbit and Back to Basics where they put on some awesome parties!! As for Brighter Daze, yes I have to confess that I am deep in the workings of it right now. What line will it take? Well, it won't be the Generation Ecstasy/Energy Flash style of cultural discourse and, regrettably, since Kodwo Eshun is a far greater theorist than me it won't be Brighter Than The Sun. But for those who read my Kraftwerk book or The Rough Guide To Techno there are some pointers to be had there. But hey! - it ain't finished yet so those who are quick with some feedback can enjoy some vicarious input at the usual address. What I really want for Xmas is a book (and some more records) by Tom Churchill ... I hope to find a copy of your new book in Borders tomorrow. Hmm i have not bought anything on Headspace or by Tim Churchill since HS 004. Kind of clueless at the moment of things. Got to sort something out soon. Have a nice weekend ahead and keep in touch!!! Your techno friend in SIngapore, Collin
