Re: (313) Yellow Magic Orchestra
I'd also say their first two LP's. Besides that, I highly recommend Ryuichi Sakamoto's B-2 Unit from (1980). Quite experimental and way ahead of its time. It also features the fantastic electro dub track riot in lagos. (Check Ken Ishii Mix -Up CD). it's worth to look for it!!! --- Andrew Duke [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: for the YMO fans out there: which releases from this band (vinyl LPs and 12s, not interested in cds) are considered essential; looking to beef up my YMO collection here, but money's tight so would like some opinions before i buy more. thanks. andrew duke :) -- Cognition/Andrew Duke's In The Mix mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://techno.ca/cognition 1096 Queen St #123 Halifax NS Canada B3H 2R9 __ Do You Yahoo!? Re: (313) Cybotron / Face Mooner Industries
hello ionizer, it's gotta be the b-side future of model 500's no ufos. if you like this compi you also should check out Kranke Musique ist schoen Vol II, this one features more electronic disco than the first vol. Mr. Mooner is also going to bring out a best of album by Steril who is said to have a few new-romantic dance chart stompers in the early 80's. I surely missed that one out, but now we have a new chance... visit www.krankyklang.chip.ms Chris --- Ionizer [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Just looking for some info...I picked a copy of Kranke Musique Ist Schon electro compilation and along with the Cybotron track Cosmic Cars there is another which sounds suspiciously similair - Face - Future. (313) kano for president and let Spacer Woman be the First Lady!
To get back to Andrew's original question, if there were other 12s by Kano. I have a 12 on Fulltime records from 1981 entitled Don't try to stop me and Baby not tonight on the flip side. Don't try to stop me is my favourite track. quite similar to I'm ready with catchy synth hook lines, some vocoder, funky beat, but it still has a traditional disco feel to it (I mean real drums, rhythm guitar etc...) Baby not tonight on the other hand is more along the line of Kool and the gang's celebration . Alright I checked out the track list of the new I-f mix CD and came across a (italo, I think )project called Charlie that was featured with the track Spacer Woman. I love this track! Anybody have any info on Charlie? Discography? Label? where can I find this song (on 12 or on which LP)? And in general what italo records are recommended? And I'm looking for a CD or a LP with the soundtrack to a Louis de Funes movie called La soupe aux...(can't remember the french title). It's the one where De Funes gets to know an alien who really likes his soup. Everytime he comes gives him soup and in return the alien brings back his wife who died long time ago. __ Do You Yahoo!? Re: (313) Sandwiches -- Track ID ...I'm Watching You
Sandwiches reminds me a lot of these old Dance Mania Tracks and somewhat of Green Velvet as well. This is already the third release from Throw records, but I heard the earlier releases are also very funny. How do they (like Paris the Blak Fu) sound like? Speaking of spoken word tracks, I am also curious what the track was that can be heard on the new Gigolo Tapes featuring Highfish Diringer. For those who have it, that's the one right after Afro Germanic. The tracks is pretty dark and creepy (long gong and thunder samples...) and there is a low pitched voice that says something like: You walk awayI'm watching you...You don't know that I'm stalking you...etc...etc.. So does anybody know the tour dates for the US, please? I'm hearing that a scaled-down Transmat tour may be headed down to Australia with Aril Brikha playing live - possibly before the end of the year. Some cat in Sydney or Perth is behind it. Anyone know the details? Good stuff. I had thought this Melbourne guy would do it (he may yet do so, in this city at least). As long as it comes. Is Alton Miller doing any other Australian cities other than Perth? When is this happening? I am very excited!
