(313) Joris Voorn
so i downloaded this joris voorn live at tresor set. does anyone have this and know anything about the second tune(about 6 minutes thru)? its the one that totally killed me at the festival. if i need to, i can probably post a link, but i'm not home at the moment. great kick drum sequencing. damn!
(313) oliver ho
hey, has anyone heard anything about when the Soft machine album is going to be released? the waiting is driving me nuts. eric
Re: (313) help - paul mac
i dont know about the album, but i'm going to chime in and say that i really love his record on surface. the second tune on the a-side really does it for me in a aril brikha meets surface kind of way. the wedding present also, right? There were certainly other influential artists, such as Pere Ubu The Dead Boys, but I don't think they had much impact on the techno scene. :) Every City/Town has one, but which one do you think has had the most influence on the scene we now love? From Sheffield, it has to be Cabaret Voltaire, their BBQ's and Party's influenced everyone here and for many it was the first time anyone had heard Kraftwerk on a big rig - god bless Mal and Richard. (and its not that oliver ho/blake baxter isn't pretty sweet, but i'm having a hard time dragging myself back to vision. yuck.) eric

(313) movement vs brood x
hey...does anyone know if the detroit area gets the broodx 17 year cicadas? just thought of that...hundreds of thousands of techno fans dancing with millions and millions of cicadas? haha. this might be the best movement ever, regardless of the lineup. although maybe detroit is far enough north that the ground won't heat up enough by the festival to make them come out...? i dont know... eric
(313) jeff mills in chicago
wow. i don't know what else to say except that he totally tore it up. great mixing, great tunes. i'd seen him twice before and been disappointed both times, but had never really lost faith that someday i'd see him and be amazed. just wanted to say that, especially after that whole thread about jeff mills and chicago and all that, etc. also, i'm pretty psyched about the oliver ho/mike dearborn/t-1000 night coming up! never seen oliver ho before, so... anyway, eric

Re: (313) what's your favorite track/album right now?
as far as techno, i'm pretty into the new Damon Wild doublepack on Kanzleramt. especially mr mean and halflife. the combo of tough stompy drums and totally wussed out synths is, in general, pretty unbeatable, imo. as far as rock music, i'd always have to go with Lungfish and the Lungfish side-project The Pupils on Dischord. if you want to give them a shot, i think i'd recommend starting with Lungfish's Sound in Time, completely amazing start to finish. not that i necessarily think you've never heard these records, but those are the things i'm into right now. also, i'd agree with Chad about Stars of the Lid. droning, largely guitar based, i think, ambient. and the show they played in urbana last year was one of the best i've seen. which i think is saying a lot, considering i'm an impatient guy and it was an ambient show. eric On Tue, 9 Mar 2004, synthetic tom wrote: sorry to re-post this question, but i'm craving some new music that i've never heard of before, and there's no better place to ask than here. as for me, i've recently discovered DeepChord and Docile Recordings and i'm loving them both. buy on sight as far as i'm concerned. playing right now: Drexciya Digital Tsunami later y'alls t
