RE: (313) paul johnson
= Original Message From holly.c.macdonald-korth [EMAIL PROTECTED] = i'm sorry y'all, but i've reached my breaking point here...paul johnson is NOT from detroit, so please continue this discussion off list. no disrespect to paul or anyone else, but i spend 25 hours a week working at gramaphone records here in chi-town, and i can't tell you how many times i've had to hear get get down since it came out. the 313 list is my escape from chicago house overload, please don't take that away from me! thank you- israel Paul Johnson is played to death in holland also..(well his track that is..) it seems that mr. Johnson is earning some big money with this major Ibiza hit, it's a cheesy track but it still is Paul Johnson indeed i have to tell you all, that i don't really think this is a cheesy track, and i truly don't see it out of line with any of paul johnson's work in the past... he ranges from disco to booty, but always with a sense of humor... most of his tracks tend to be loopy with little variation (though the loops may be long), and even the disco ones maintain a stark, tracky deep basis having been a serious pau ljohnson fan since welcome to the warehouse i see this track as being perfectly paul... and i love his voice... i always picture him sitting in his studio saying all the silly shit in his songs eg you're so silly, uncle paul make me laugh, etc. peace out, holly .
(313) 69/S.I.D.
i know this is a long shot, but... does anyone out there have any of carl craig's 69 releases? i'm also looking to replace a scratched (god dammit!) copy of UR's S.I.D. 003--Soundpictures ep w spirits speak and lunar rhythms. (i'm actually looking for ANY of the S.I.D. releases besides Sweat Electric-i HAVEN'T scratched that one yet.) buy, trade, whatever. please respond off-list. thanks, israel

(313) k-werk
thanks to all for the kraftwerk info.. unfortunately, none of the mixes of tour de france that any of you mentioned are the one that's on the cd i got... oh well, whoever did it is some sort of blasphemer and needs a swift kick in the ass for ruining a classic. peace- israel
(313) my friend said...
on the techno sex tip, my friend dave once said (jokingly...well, half jokingly i think) ALL techno is about sex. A 909 kick, man, that's nothin' but a head board slammin' against a wall! my friend is wierd- israel
(313) thanksgiving?
does anyone have word yet about mills playing in detroit on thanksgiving?? please tell... israel
(313) kraftwerk
hey-- just picked up a cd of kraftwerk's live set at 97 tribal gathering.. bits of the set are missing (including man machine, damn!)--anyway, at the end of the cd there is a trance mix of tour de france that is down right terrible. i'm wondering who might be responsible for this remix. the cd has no info whatsoever. i was fortunate enough to be at that show, so i know that the rest of the cd is legit (i'm sure i heard my own voice screaming among 4000 others), but i'm wondering where this bonus mix came from. curious- israel
(313) testing, do not open
test test test i told you not to open...
RE: (313) mills again
= Original Message From Dan Laylow [EMAIL PROTECTED] = a pop star?---please!! mills might make money, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to what pop stars (madonna, michael jackson, ricky martin, etc.) bring in every year. besides that, having thick skin is not an invitation for stabbing. you've brought offense to nobody but yourself. good luck in your career as a critic. out- israel look - i don't want to offend anyone - but do you guys really think he is all that. I like a lot of his records but i could never rate him as a dj. sorry, and anyone who makes the kind of money he makes is a pop star and not some minimal artistic whatever... and anyone who puts themselves in front of a crowd as a performer needs thick skin to survive. I am sure if mr mills was here with me now he would agree - and laugh at me as he counts his cash. and remember the cover of tresor 2 - those damn hands - and all this time i thought purpose maker was such art' __ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com .
RE: (313) mills worth it? or worhtless
I have an idea: Why don't all you hardcore Jeff Mills fans make your own list? That way, I wouldn't have ten million billion emails every day with the words Jeff and Mills and Japanin the subject field !! Thanks RJ i've got a better idea--why don't all you player haters get together and try to make some music that has half the impact on the world of techno that mills has made in the last 10-15 years? good luck. out- israel .
RE: (313) Jeff Mills And Radio One Cont'd
= Original Message From Cyclone Wehner [EMAIL PROTECTED] = Not sure what to make of this. It is taken from Muzik's Saints Sinners section (October), which I definitely do not endorse, let it be known. This ed the Saints And Sinners had an Ibiza theme. Jeff was listed as a sinner: if you ask me, it's a fucking sin to say anything about mills (good or bad) in some wanker ibiza themed magazine. Muzik can stick it up their collective trance endorsing asses. out- israel
RE: (313) Jeff Mills:thanks giving
= Original Message From john sokolowski [EMAIL PROTECTED] = if jeff declined playing in baltimore to stay home that weekend, then why would he be in detroit? detroit is mills' home. magazines and flyers usually read: jeff mills axis detroit. there is no escaping detroit. cheers. yes, i'm aware of that, but as far as i know, he actually resides part-time in chicago and part-time in berlin. perhaps his family still resides in detroit and that's what he meant by staying home for thanksgiving. let's hope so, i'd love to see him play. israel .

(313) pick it up!!
hey y'all- check out the new 2x12 on the iceland imprint, thule records... thule #012--Den Nard Husher--Nard's Groove Vol. 1 a wicked release all the way around--deep techno, bangin' techno, a few down tempo experimental tracks, and (this is where i make this relevant to the 313)- a track that samples the outsiders (purpose maker)-- it almost sounds like a remix, but there is no mention of either jeff or pm in the label info.--i hope they didn't think it would go unnoticed! rip-off would be a harsh term, they use the sample tastefully and create a nice cut of their own...i prefer to hear someone staight up sampling mills instead of attempting a weak imitation. (i.m.o., ignacio's humana-ised is one of the best floor tracks of '99) peace, enjoy-- israel ps-speaking of mills, does anyone know who the hell is being interviewed on the new tomorrow release yet???
(313) o my gawd
no time now for lenghthy reviews--but get your collective asses to a record store quick like-- new robert hood on m-plant is out (containing flyer warning of the eminent release of nighttime world #2!!!-nothing on the flyer about cheap records, just an m-plant logohmm..) the first tomorrow release is out as well (mills' new label)the majority of one side is an interview--the label says who the interview was conducted by, but doesn't name the interviewee--unless jeff has recently aquired a british accent, it's not him--but i would be interested to find out who it is---anyone got info. on this one??? new claude young on deta records---holy shit this record is just smokin'---i.m.o. this is claude's best work to date. get up, go to the store now-- out- israel
