Re: (313) Recloose Ableton mix

2006-10-24 Thread thomas ironside ainslie

Thanks! Every time I'm about to unsub some little gem like this gets
posted. I loves me some Recloose mixes. Anyone know what the track
that starts around 19:45 is?

And maybe it's a little blasphemous to say, but it's nice to see him
going the Ableton route. I just wish I had the ears to pick out
whether he's doing anything special with it or more or less just
stringing tracks together.

2006-02-03 Thread thomas ironside ainslie
As usual my budget is keeping me a few months behind the times, but I just
picked up Jan Jelinek's newest and holy balls it's great.

After a couple listens my favorite tracks are Universal Band Silhouette
and Im Discodickicht, but that might change after I have a chance to sit
down with some shrubberies and give it a late-night session.

Any other full lengths that y'alls are digging currently? My closet-sized
apartment is limiting me to CD's right now, but curious to hear about
anything.

(313) Electronically-mediated performances at SIGGRAPH 2006

2006-01-05 Thread thomas ironside ainslie

SIGGRAPH 2006 is looking for small-scale electronically mediated
performances for the SIGGRAPH 2006 conference in Boston in July. We are
interested in work that uses technology to creatively stimulate and
enhance the performance. We would like to see works that provoke thought,
amuse, amaze, or emotionally move the audience.

Because we do not have a professional stage in a theater, we are looking
for small-scale dance, music, theatrical, performance art and/or hybrid
works that can work with a black-box type of space in a major corridor at
SIGGRAPH 2006.

If you are involved in electronically mediated performance or you know of
any performances or performers that work with technology in a
creative/innovative way, please send me their/your contact information and
a URL if available. Our goal is to try to give cutting-edge performers an
opportunity to showcase their work to the diverse computer graphics
community and the public. There is sure to be plenty of media coverage
and the ability to make important connections throughout the conference.

We look forward to promoting some of the most incredible work being done
today in Boston July 30 - Aug 3.

same kind of feeling that a lot of the Definitive releases did in the
mid- to late 90's.

anyone out there into this label? any essential releases i should be

(313) berlin-detroit video

2004-12-02 Thread thomas ironside ainslie
hey everyone, for the experimental documentary class that i took this
semester my classmate Maria Mayer and i decided to make a video about
detroit and berlin. so in october she went to berlin for an extended
weekend, and i went home to michigan to collect video. what we have at
this point is a 20 minute movie combining that footage.

it includes:
music by pole and jeff mills
interior shots of the packard plant and other abandoned structures in
detroit

some real purty landscape/cityscape shots of berlin
found footage from a VHS tape salvaged from the floor of the packard
plant

and more!

anyways, if you're looking for something to watch, check out the low
quality web version here:

also, any feedback/criticism is most welcome and appreciated.
