It never dawned on me, GAL was just taking off when I lived in Japan.
But the Black Japan reference could actually be a name check to GAL,
but I'm not sure.

It's also not clear what Black Tokyo Project is - and to be honest there is
something about the name which to me, seems dumb.

What is it? Music? Art? Blacks In Tokyo? Why 'Black' anyway?

Black people you mean? That would be faintly patronizing in my view, if it was
referring or alluding to that some sort of cultural jam. That might not be
intentionally offensive, but it's still referenced by skin colour. How very 70s!

Maybe 'Black' as an aesthetic term?

Dumb, dumb dumb.

If I was Aux 88 I'd be hesitant in associating with this project as it could
cast them in as dubious a light as the project itself - which would be a shame
as the group are justifiably well respected for their music.

Check this out:

http://www.blacktokyo.com/?p=2923

It's nothing to do with the Aux 88-linked project, I think, but it's in the
same orbit.

Perhaps there would be a good reason for Aux 88 being involved in such a
project if it had worthwhile aims.

But it would need to be well-thought through and I would suggest it ought to be
at the behest of Aux 88, or people like Aux 88 in Japan.

(313) Aux88, Surgeon, Slater, Guy Called Gerald - all in one night @ WANG/Balance - London

Got this in my in-box today

looks to be a phenomenal night of *THUMP!*

MEK
_

An advance reconnaissance mission was conducted to our new venue
Cable this Saturday.
This is the first time we had seen the club completed, on our
previous visit building work was just getting started.
And we can happily report that the new venue is totally wicked. Full
credit to Cable they've done a great job and we're sure you're all
gonna love it.

After almost 10 years putting on events this is WANG's first ever
party in a 'proper' club, and so it's quite a big deal to us.
Rest assured we are gonna be bringing out the heavy artillery, full
low-loader action style.
You can expect brand new battle weapons that'll make the deathstar
look like a kiddy's toy.

Balance Friday 29th May. Line-up:
Aux 88 - exclusive UK live show
Surgeon - debut of his new audio/visual live show
Luke Slater - planetary assault systems dj set
A Guy Called Gerald - live acid set
Billy Nasty - electro set
Ben Sims
Jim Masters
Electro Elvis

NAMM is the big music gear show. I imagine at least a few of you all

More to the point, I imagine Aux88 and/or Pierre may have some club
gigs set up to take advantage of being in LA.

Unfortunately, no ... Vidal said he thought DJ Pierre
was doing a gig with Doc Martin down in Tijuana or
San Diego, but hadn't heard of any Aux 88 gigs here.

There are several NAMM after-parties going on out here, though.

- Mike Huckaby is doing a free party tonight (with DJ Developer)
in Silver Lake at Rambutan Thai, 2835 W. Sunset Blvd.
  Los Angeles, CA 90026.

- Troy Pierce (and Droog) is playing at Republic tonight

NAMM is the big music gear show. I imagine at least a few of you all are going.

More to the point, I imagine Aux88 and/or Pierre may have some club
gigs set up to take advantage of being in LA.
