I-F had some interesting things to say about Dave Clarke, and the 'Electro
Boogie' mix series, back in the September 1999 issue of The Skinny
(www.skinny.com check the past music features section).

It would be interesting to hear Dave Clarke's response to this article.

(313) Dave Clarke last night

2000-03-20 Thread c myster
sat night
Roy Wilkins Auditorium, St. Paul MN
Dave Clarke:1am to 2:30 am

Nice tracks including: Orange, DJ rush's new one with him
ranting about you gotta believe over a Velvetlike beat,
that percussive japanese track on F Communications (records not in front
of me)

nice and bangin. A bit overindulgent with the effects processor. He
would get a groove
going and then kill it right away with a chaotic delay. It guess it was
interesting though.

I wish he would of played a bit more epic stuff. When a big name DJ
comes to
a town for the first time I just think they should play a couple of those
classic tracks
that brought their name's to the forefront (like anything RED maybe, I
don't care how old they are!)

It just seems that they just throw down what they've been into over the
last couple of
months, and that's cool; but when most of the crowd is oblivious to what
you've done in
the past maybe you should school 'em with those ageless tracks. just my
.02..

Dissappointed I missed Woody's set
in the other room Lil Ronnie played a lot of nice hard funky beats
(Hybrid, Primevil) recommended
DJ Speedy kind of started where DC left off, just a bit trancier, his set
had it's definite moments.
all in all a good time.

next week: The Kooky Scientist...Live
looking forward to that.

I completely agree, and not only that, I agree about the same DJ! I saw
Dave Clarke roll through Vancouver BC on that K7 Electro Boogie tour a few
years back. Vancouver has some good points, but it's music scene isn't one
of them, and this was the first time to my knowledge somebody was gonna show
Van city what music was. He played a good, but dissapointing set of hard
techno, something else you rarely hear in this city, but damn! I came to
hear electro on a big system for the first time in two years! My personal
