Superpitcher is a (pop)star, Justus Kohncke has made some killer club tracks (witness last year's 'Timecode') and some of the Voigt&Voigt 'Speicher' records are tremendous, but generally the rest of the Kompakt gear is poor, imo. Re: [313] Kompakt Education Please
Tristan, I have Kompakt 25 'Pensum' by M. Mayer. It has a very generic tech-house Kompakt feel to it; soft noise laden synth pads, with big bumpy basslines, and off kilter shuffled percussion, not his most shining moment (try 17 & 4, or the Wasserman rmx that he did.) While I personally enjoy all the Kompakt releases, on some level or other, I would have to say that for someone who wants the best of the best, grab Joachim Spieth's 'Abi 99' (Kom 5), Dettinger 'Blonde' and or 'Puma' (Kom 2 and 6), and Dubstar 'Shining Through (Kom 11). I would alos recommend checking out Kompakt total 1 if not for the Salz track alone (Salz is possibly the most undervalued tech label), then the Dettinger, Mayer, and Paape tracks. In any case I hope everyone would listen to the kompakt backcatalogue or what you can find of it here's a start www.kompakt-net.de weirdness for all todd - Original Message - From: "Phonopsia" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "313" <313@hyperreal.org> Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2001 11:21 PM Subject: [313] Kompakt Education Please > I picked up the Kompakt - Total 2 compilation last weekend and I'm love with > the M. RE: [313] Kompakt Education Listen to KOMPAKT 1 to 28 & PROFAN @ nuloop.com
Also Traum releases are very good, maybe to "heady" for what you are looking for but still worth the listen. On KOMPAKT you cant beat "Robson Ponte" by Reinhard Voigt I believe it is #15. KOMPAKT's web add. is www.KOMPAKT-NET.DE There you can find the discography of the labels they dist. and descriptions of each. Also listen to the Freiland series by Wolfgang Voigt and the max-earnst series by Thomas Brinkmann. At 08:58 AM 3/1/2000, you wrote: Greetings, I've managed to ID a track I've been after for ages (god bless Hardwax) and it's on Kompakt records. Can somebody give me some more information on this label - by the sounds of it their stuff is pretty exceptional. Kompakt is indeed an exceptional label (and distributer as well). They - along with labels like Ware, Popular Org., and Profan - are probably the tops in Cologne- styled techno & tech-house. Almost every one of the Kompakt releases are keepers but my favorites are the releases by Dettinger, Paape, Mayer, Dubstar, and Voigt. I suggest you get both Kompakt comps for an inexpensive way to explore the sound that Kompakt has. Here is a Kompakt discography: . Jurgen Paape: Triumph 12" (Kompakt 01) . Dettinger: Blond 12" (Kompakt 02) . Jurgen Paape: Glanz 12" (Kompakt 03) . M. Mayer: 17&4 12" (Kompakt 04) . Joachim Spieth: Abi 99 12" (Kompakt 05) . Dettinger: Puma 12" (Kompakt 06) . Schaeben & Voss: Dicht Dran 12" (Kompakt 07) . Benjamin Wild: Kronberg 12" (Kompakt 08) . Reinhard Voigt: Robson Ponte 12" (Kompakt 09) . Total 1 comp cd/2xlp (Kompakt 10 . Dubstar: Shining Through 12" (Kompakt 11) . Dettinger: Totentanz 12" (Kompakt 12) . Sascha Funke: Campus 12" (Kompakt 13) . Kompakt Extra comp 12" (Kompakt Extra 01) . Koln Kompakt 1 comp cd (Kompakt cd01) . Dettinger: Intershop cd (Kompakt cd02) Hope this helps! -->-Lance--- [EMAIL PROTECTED] p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Re: (313) Kompakt Records
i would have to agree. those records are slammin'! they kind of put me in a funk becasue most of them are readily available at dubplate pressure which is down the street form my place so i spend what little money i have on those records, than buying other records. oh well, that is how it goes. at least they're dope records. -craig-

Hi Ryan, It was Kompakt 009, Reinhard Voigt - 'Robson ponte' It was on that Richie Hawtin mix I keep going on about. There's a distorted vocal sample that keeps repeating "Robson Ponte" - me and my friends have been trying to figure out what it says for months!! Cheers for the info.
