Saturday morning in the UK. Of course, I was er...just channel hopping coz
I

Right between my flat and Bethnal Green tube station is a bridge with a
massive Detroit Grand Pubahs 'Sandwiches' poster underneath it (big,
greasy
triple-decker sandwich with I know you want to do it... underneath).
This
record is getting *pushed* over here - its made it to the Radio 1 B list:

 Good stuff.

to loosely quote an article I just wrote these two are getting more PR than

I believe they are going to Europe to tour soon. I think London and Love
Parade are two of the stops, not 100% sure. I'd ask Jon Layne at IT.

2000-06-19 Thread sean deason
Just peeped the Sandwiches video a couple weeks ago. As you'd expect from the
Pubahs, it's pretty dammed funny!! Complete with Paris and Andy in numerous
costumes, girls in bikinis (and not all of them the skinny bikini types
typical of music videos) wrestleing in mayo, a carosel, cameo appearance by
Brian Gillespie (sp?) and a midget (or is that little person for all you PC
folks out there?) all in all a very nicely done video that obviously had a
very large production budget. I cant wait until MTV gets ahold of it! if they
liked bloodhound gang they're just gonna eat up Sandwhiches! (ouch!!)
Hey! a review of a Detroit techno video! those are few and far between on the
313 list, eh? :^)

I played it on my Plug Research radio show (#2), at
http://www.plugresearch.com. Sandwiches comes in around 15:30. For those of
you who may have tried to listen over the weekend, there was a problem with
the RealAudio file (it was only streaming at a very low rate), but it's now
fixed and the show will stream at multiple rates, from 33.6 up to dual ISDN.

Sandwiches reminds me a lot of these old Dance Mania
Tracks and somewhat of Green Velvet as well.
This is already the third release from Throw records,
but I heard the earlier releases are also very funny.
How do they (like Paris the Blak Fu) sound like?

Speaking of spoken word tracks, I am also curious what
the track was that can be heard on the new Gigolo
Tapes featuring Highfish Diringer. For those who
have it, that's the one right after Afro Germanic.
The tracks is pretty dark and creepy (long gong and
thunder samples...) and there is a low pitched voice
that says something like:
 You walk awayI'm watching you...You don't know
that I'm stalking you...etc...etc..

Thanks

Can't help with the URL but the lyrics are, as far as I can remember:

I know I wanna do it
I know you wanna do it too
Out here on the dancefloor
We can make sandwiches

You can be the bun
And I can be the burger girl
Out here on the dancefloor
We can make sandwiches

So make your thighs like butter easy to spread
And we can make sandwiches
Out here on the dancefloor
Come on we can do it

etc.

I want more!
