Re: (313) The Clash

2004-02-13 Thread Scotto
i just lucked out a few weeks ago, i was at my local shop doing the used bin
dive.
found some killers like twilight 22's electric kindom (which was nice; now
have two) and soul sonic force regedages of funk. as i was cashing out i
looked at the pile of used record that have not been put on the floor yet;
on the top was london calling, which is my favorite clash lp. every song is
an anthem.

but i am curious of clash/detroit techno connections? were they popular with
ken or mojo?
sorry if this was covered in the begining of the thread, but i did not
notice on a quick review.

both very good, although I think the magnificent dance has been overplayed
by self-consciensly 'eclectic' DJs who all seemed to discover it when
westway to the world was released. If you're only going to buy one I'd sod
both of these and hunt for mustapha dance (the flip of rock the casbah) came
out on CBS in the UK and Epic in the US. Oh, and it's got the greatest
sleeve ever made.

or you could go the less purist route and just buy super black market clash.

There's another release with the magnificant seven and the

magnificent

dance on the flip. both are worth getting.
they've been repressed and are easy to get.  they're on epic or

cbs

Well, I ran away from home and school(forever) at the age of 15 to see the
clash when they played seven nights in a row in sydney in 1982, and yes, i
have the mixes of "this is radio clash". It has: This Is Radio Clash, Radio
Clash, Outside Broadcast, Radio 5
