(313) Track iD

2013-05-30 Thread djkontroll
Perhaps someone here can help. Have a track buried in my collection. Had a
repeating hook in a girls voice that said, I don't fuck much with the past but
I fuck plenty with the future.

Any idea on label or title?

Thanks,

(313) Track ID from around 89-90, possibly with Lisa Newberry vocals

2013-03-31 Thread Filip Sneppe
Hi,

I came across a person asking for two track IDs from Belgium's Boccaccio
club. The first one - I think - has Lisa Newberry (or someone sounding very
much like her) on vocals and definitely sounds like something that could
have come out of Detroit around 89-90.

https://soundcloud.com/surfingleons/bocca-track-1

Can anyone on this list ID this ?

The other one doesn't sound Detroit at all, but here it is anyway for those
who want to give it a try:

https://soundcloud.com/surfingleons/bocca-track-2

Thanks in advance,
Filip

OK, so I should've dug a little deeper before asking, the first one is
Paradise by Octave One. Sorry for the noise.

omar s killed it on saturday at deep detroit.  pretty much his whole
set was unidentifiable mid 90s house/garage/acid.  one track in
particular had lyrics which presumably should make it easier to
identify though my efforts so far have failed.  basically it was a
female vocal that repeated the following in a call and response style:
don't you want it? don't you want my love? don't you need it? don't
you need my love? don't you feel it? don't you feel my love?

That's a good one -- don't know anything about Elis Pacheco,
but DJ Camacho and DJ Disciple did additional work on this remix,
two of the best exponents of mid-90s NY house before it got
completely formulaic. Disciple in particular put out a lot of
really top-level tracks I think he was involved with Eightball
Records when I visited there in 1995 with label boss Ramon
Wells (who used to live here in Portland, and has been running
his own dot dot dot records since 1999).

the song by Gloria Estefan (Miami Soundmachine) - Conga.

Also interested in the track that follows the above one.

Set can be downloaded here... http://www.void-shanghai.com/

I usually try to help with these (though others generally beat me to it).

But here I seem to have a choice of a page with loads of shows etc. on so I
can't tell which one you're talking about (and you seem
to have to register before listening) or spending 25 mins downloading the whole
shebang from Sendspace?

Unless you make it easy (try clipping the bit you want out and making that
available) I'll have to pass. That site looks like it
has links to tracklists though?

Hi,
I've been trying to id a track off a miscellaneous mix I got somewhere. It's
tech house'y and got a female vocal I got a picture of you in my mind, I think
of you, the voice is quite alike the female back vocals of a Prince tune. Its
also got a nice twangy guitar chord that gives it a semi UR'ey feel.

Derrick Carter someone like that???

Re: (313) track identifier future gadget machine

2007-07-19 Thread Thor Teague

There was a copyright protection tool developed by this guy in
California recently that uses pixel identification to troll through
internet sites like youtube and myspace and finds copyrighted
films--its identification is sophisticated enough that it can find
copyright films ripped from DVD (OBVIOUSLY) but it can also find cam
rips, even with a shaky camera, even with people walking in front of
the screen. I hear it does well regardless of compression and pixel
size/aspect ratio.

I don't know how related they are, but on the level of 1's and 0's it
almost seems like it could be reverse engineered. You could feed a
snippet into a search engine (discogs) which it uses to search its
library and find a match. If it were engineered well enough, maybe it
could handle input files that were pristine or recorded with a
handheld device like a microcassette or a cell phone. So if you had a
recording off the radio or some other waveform source, and there were
a database with this engine and a lot of waveform data to attempt to
match it up to, you could theoretically get anything ID'd, limited
only by how comprehensive the database is.

That's a Goliath-size order of a 'ware, but who knows. Just
daydreaming here... ;)

Anyway want I want to know is does anyone know of a site on the Discogs tip but
where you can search by the names of tracks - even
those that weren't a release in their own right but are just album tracks? A
lot to ask I know and maybe the huge amount of data
concerned (imagine searching on a title like I Love You!) means it hasn't
come along yet (though I guess it will, maybe Discogs II
is just around the corner). Be bl00dy useful though.

what was the purpose for doing that? i mean, it seems like that would
only work when comparing a CD to a sample of that CD that hasnt really
been altered by compression, limiting, or any other dynamic
processing. it also seems like it wouldnt work if the recording was
sufficiently noisy, the transients from a vinyl recording with lots of
pops and crackles should be wildly different from a pristine CD
version.

Re: (313) track identifier future gadget machine

no it was to compare songs to a transient database of copyrighted songs

fast way to see if any of your mp3s are copyright protected, at least as far
as the reference database is concerned. its a little like mass
spectrometry, in that you need reference data to make the output worthwhile.

I should have sold it to the RIAA :P

 Hey guys

 Just a quick update NYC

Moodymann played at Shelter on the 17th, nice little party with him
playing behind a screen (no facing the front!). He'd dropped some
really great deep tracks, speak on the microphone and everyone had a
 great time.

This one track, he played i have no idea what it is but it was so very
deep ... i captured it on video on my camera:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8EzVsdaJBg

[this will also give you an idea of how everyone was also dancing
 around]

Carl played at Demon nights last night. Unfort he was BAD in that it
was more of a uplifting NY sound with no SOUL.. i think Dang spent the
nite getting him to play this one track. Ok it was fun but I've seen
him funk it up big time and tonight unfort was not it. It ws probably
the crowd of 18 year olds or whatever. :(

I have come to the realisation that I prefer the relatively empty
venue and a DJ that is uncompromising (eg Jeff, Juan, Moodymann)
rather than a full venue and bad music.

 cheers

 m

Did you ever get an answer for this? Just catching up and I think I

Subject: (313) Track Moodymann dropped... what is it? a quick nyc
 update

[this will also give you an idea of how everyone was also dancing
 around]

Carl played at Demon nights last night. Unfort he was BAD in that it
was more of a uplifting NY sound with no SOUL.. i think Dang spent the
nite getting him to play this one track. Ok it was fun but I've seen
him funk it up big time and tonight unfort was not it. It ws probably
the crowd of 18 year olds or whatever. :(

I have come to the realisation that I prefer the relatively empty
venue and a DJ that is uncompromising (eg Jeff, Juan, Moodymann)
rather than a full venue and bad music.

 cheers

 m
