(313) discussion means...
I have to pipe up. jeepers. The one thing that I feel has happened to this list over the years is that it's gone from people *discussing* their different point of views to people pounding down their * I HEART DETROIT TECHNO MORE THAN YOU * hammers. I remember when i first joined this list almost (christ) 5yrs ago? and peopled discussed history, records etc.I learned so much. This list was fundamental laying the ground of my music education. I've observed the list go from this ideology to Listen to me because I KNOW! followed by two snaps up in the air and a chickenhead twist of the neck. Progress only comes from discussion, from listening to different points of views, digesting, thinking and then thinking out back again. An intellectual breathing process if you will. We always seem to come back to discussions about detroit's past and never really dive into its possible future. It's the young talent of detroit that's making it breathe and stay alive right now and they don't get two seconds air time on this list, IMO.Why? In my opinion Atomly has a point, the list has an endless cylce. Atomly is part of this list, and has been for a long time and as so, his views should of been digested, not attacked so personally. This discussion got way too out of hand and way too personal *IMO*. I am one of those people who said 'i agree with you' off list in fear that posts that don't seem to comply with 'a detroit event/dj/product is flawless' are attacked. so attack me please. maybe i can end this crack binge that i refer to as the 313 list. There are so many different ways to look at this festival, so many different global perspectives exist on this list. Please keep that in mind when discussing things like _adults_. *burp* as we used to say...flame on diana np:my weak beats your year, TTA, Map of What is Effortless --- atomly [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Nice post, chief. Nothing on this list is worth arguing about, because every time I try I get a bunch of responses from people saying the same thing over and over because they don't understand the point I'm trying to make and then get a bunch of personal replies from people off list saying I agree. It's like shouting at a wall. your opinion is about doing something youve never had any experience doing. i dont know what to say about that really. how many free festivals have you thrown with hundreds of thousands of attendees? sh*t, have you done ANYTHING even CLOSE to that scale of things? the number of things that could potentially happen in planning something like this boggles the mind. for you to sit there and make comments about their ability to pull it off when you couldnt even begin to do so yourself is absolutely useless. if you were an organizer of say the love parade in berlin perhaps your opinion would be worthwhile. in the meantime youre just a critic mouthing off from the peanut gallery. I'm not trying to piss people off, I'm just stating my opinion. clarify that: your unqualified opinion. I think the festivals in 2000 and 2001 were some of the best lineups ever booked in North America and were diverse enough and groundbreaking enough to draw in people from all over the continent and even the world. Since then, though, I feel like the festival has shifted its focus from the groundbreaking and forward-thinking to the nostalgiac and established. yeah, last year it shifted fosuc to people from detroit. what a novel concept considering the fact that it is the detroit electronic music festival. really, if you thought last year's lineup of up and coming people alongside some of the most influential cats in the business doesnt stand up to the past lineups, i dont know what to say. Anyway, enough. If you wanna go to DEMF, have fun. I want Furthur back. rave on. tom andythepooh.com -- :: atomly :: [ [EMAIL PROTECTED] : www.atomly.com ...
