(313) 4hero UR/Members Of The House
spotter alert Hey all, Was just listening to an old 4hero album 'The Early Plates' and couldn't help but notice that on the track 'Rising Son' there is a flute sample that is also in the UR/Members Of The House track 'UR My People' - that hard to find white label. I know there is alot of mutual respect between the two camps, but was wondering if MOTH borrowed from 4hero or another source? RE: [313] 4Hero
tristan: it's a mix of things. not so heavy on the drum and bass tip, more so on the jazz/broken beat tip. it has a bit of rb as well, with ms. jill scott guesting on vocals for a track. their production sonically has never sounded better. very rich and warm. however, the thing that does it for me is the last track. it's a gorgeous track with guest vocals by Terry Callier. it's a bit pricey, because i don't think it ever saw a domestic release. but if that sound is your thing then you won't be bummed out. rt -Original Message- From: Phonopsia [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, April 13, 2002 8:07 PM To: 313 Subject: [313] 4Hero http://www.xlr8r.com/ has a new interview with them. mine is Golden Solitude with Bembe Segue on vocals. Amazing stuff. at first I didn't dig the new 4Hero because of all the vocal tracks. Now it's hard for me to dig their stuff *without* vocals. 'Day of The Greys' for me (The Terrier Callier track). Mournful, accomplished and deep of message. I'm a little surprised to be discussing the LP now though ... I thought everyone vaguely into D and the universe it exists in, would've checked it out already. -Original Message- From: Dan Sicko [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 15, 2002 2:45 PM To: Rob Theakston; Phonopsia; 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [313] 4Hero mine is Golden Solitude with Bembe Segue on vocals. i guess the main problem is getting that record over here at a decent price. unless you are die hard west london obsessive, it's a bit tough to justify the $30-40 price tag i've seen for the vinyl; or the $23 CD price tag. too bad mercury/polygram didn't have the good sense to do a US version at a reasonable price, i have a feeling it would have fared quite well sales wise. anyone else check out the hold it down remixes? oooh...sooo good! -Original Message- From: Odeluga, Ken [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 15, 2002 10:25 AM To: Dan Sicko; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Org Subject: RE: [313] 4Hero 'Day of The Greys' for me (The Terrier Callier track). I can honestly say that the price is the *one* thing stopping people from buying that record. Regardless of people's tastes all you have to do is play Another Day with Jill Scott and they ask Whats that? Then they catch the 40 dollar price tag and its over. Yeah those prices are pretty crazy. I didn't realize. Polygram is the biggest record company in the world (on many measures) so I'd guess that that's definitely deliberate, rather than poor strategy - somehow, they must figure that they'll earn more by selling at the import price ... -Original Message- From: Rob Theakston [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 15, 2002 3:32 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Org Subject: RE: [313] 4Hero i guess the main problem is getting that record over here at a decent price. unless you are die hard west london obsessive, it's a bit tough to justify the $30-40 price tag i've seen for the vinyl; or the $23 CD price tag. too bad mercury/polygram didn't have the good sense to do a US version at a reasonable price, i have a feeling it would have fared quite well sales wise. anyone else check out the hold it down remixes? oooh...sooo good! RE: [313] 4Hero
Honestly,, I'd rather pay the full import price than to rely on Polygram releasing an American version. They screwed up the Two Pages release by taking out some of the great tracks and messing with the sequence for the American release on that album. -Original Message- From: Odeluga, Ken [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 15, 2002 10:55 AM To: Rob Theakston; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Org Subject: RE: [313] 4Hero Yeah those prices are pretty crazy. The most 313style 4hero projects would probably be Jacob's Optical Staircase (including some Juan Atkins collaborations) and the Nu Era releases (1/2 of 4hero) recent releases under the name 4hero are more jazzy drum in bass, earlier releases more hardcore. they've put out a lot of material going back to the early breakbeat era. Reinforced and 2000 Black are related labels they run. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
