name: JP Remillard - aka Pheek age: 32 I live in: Montreal, Canada I was born in: Canada Into Detroit since: Since I heard "Good life" in 89 (88?) and stuff like "French Kiss". All the acid house from the late 80's. Into electronic music since: I was into early hip hop and electronics in the early 80's. Starting point on the techno map: Basic Channel... yay. Favorite Live act: Orb, in 93. Frank Bretschneider, 2000 @ Mutek. Turning point: seeing Plastikman do a whole very minimal set in 98 in Montreal. I reckon this was the starting point of the minimal scene of our town. From Akufen to Deadbeat, we were all there, going crazy, preparing our actual sounds...

And I agree. Nobody does, but everybody does. In modern music, everything is techno. It's all made on machines with machines. Techno records sell, but only after you can't find them and not in those amounts. I had to learn that just because some people have just discovered this music, you(I) can't get mad at their inexperience, but you point them in the correct direction. For the guy who wants a comprehensive music history on Detroit musics. Start with some John Lee Hooker and find out about Hastings street. Pick up the book "Before Motown" to find out about Detroits jazz history before motown. Anything about Motown. Before it became the job of profressional amateur experts to classify, name, and seperate everything to justify listening to anything, it was just dance (listening) music. All of it. FM 98 had a mix show with a Barry Michealton Grant I think. The Wizard started at WDRQ 93 FM, before he moved to 98. Mojo played his mixes on his radio show on WGPR 107.5. And this scene was not a techno scene until after 1990. As well as Duane Bradley doing his afternoon mixes on 98. Claude Young had his mix show on WHYT 96. So by the time the mix shows had came about on 89X, they had already been running on the Black(Urban) outlets for years. I will admit my bias towards "Detroit" techno, as opposed to techno. There was, and is a difference. Just rambling. Shake.

Re: [313] No Subject
really wow. Well I really enjoyed her set, Kenny Dixon and Theo Parrish. I still have to download the others. Stacey Hale was disappointing and I'll have to listen again.

Re: [313] No Subject
i think the word you might be looking for is "participate"... if so, its a phil asher track from a double promo 12" on estereo. "phlash 3000" was the name of the double pack. i don't know if it was ever released, but originally it supposed to come out as two seperate 12's. the track you want is on part 1. the rest of it is a little too "noodly english wannabe jazz house" but that track is, as you say, hot. -eli On Thu, Aug 24, 2000 at 01:36:01PM -0400, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > on the download from the DEMF, Hannah plays this track that goes something > like this; "whatever you do , don't be late...don't be too late...something > something don't hesistate" it's Black men singing and it's hot. > > > Anybody know, I want that track. There isn't any difference really, it's just how you use the technology and the end result of your method. i posted this to other more ONtopic lists.. but no serious replies... so here it is... For Sale: Roland Alpha Juno 1 $250 Real Analogue with Digitally Controlled Oscilators (DCO's). Perfect working condition. Sound is clean and low-noise, outputs are nice and loud (unlike many used juno1's), all keys/buttons work perfectly. Alpha Dial is nice and smooth. Cosmetically beautiful. The only possible gripe one could have with this board is that the backlighting on the screen is somewhat faded (about 30% less bright than normal). However, one does not need the backlighting to use in normal, studio conditions... and there is ENOUGH backlighting present for club conditions. These things fade on 14 year old boards, its no surprise.Comes with manual and power cord. Tubeworks 901 "Real Tube" tube distortion pedal. $65 I bought this to accompany the Juno1. It really makes a synth sing. Also great to grit up your kick drum or make your cymbals scratchier. Contains a real 12AX7A preamp tube for authentic warmth and grind. Three-band EQ dials in perfect tone, Drive and Output controls handle the grind at any volume. The EQ acts as an "isolator" in that if you turned down all 3 bands... there would be NO sound what so ever. Dimensions: 3" h x 3 1/4" w x 5" l. This thing is built like a tank... not like BOSS or DOD pedals... this one is STEEL. Excellent sound/cosmetic condition. Just a little loss of yellow paint due to using it as an actual "stomp box". AC power chord is connected to unit.1/4" in/out. picture @ http://www.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/15/151802.jpg both items are PLUS SHIPPING i would prefer to sell BOTH of these items to the same buyer for $300 + Shipping. pre-pay Money Order only.
