The track that comes in after the ricardo is a new track that is coming out
on Minus in the next few months by none other than a person that you are
playing with on Saturday at the Kooky Scientist party.

Its chungking 'making music' which is on their
album 'we travel fast' on tummy touch, and i think that track might
be released as a single - its lovely isn't it? the bassist from
super_collider, James Stephenson plays bass and produces chungking,
That's his proper band so to speak. they are very mellow and the lead
singer Jessie, is quite a performer...definitely worth checking live
and I love the album too.

Thanks a lot. Yeah when christian played he used the bassline from my fav
supercollider track and mixed it into the lyrics of this one, figured there
was a connection. Such a warm beautiful track.

Best DJ Trick goes to Christian - he played one side of a DFA record and
toward the end of the song put it through an effects processor to echo the
last bit of it, then flipped the record over, mid-set, while the echo was
going, and played the other side. Brilliant!

(313) track i.d/LFO/KRAftywerk

No Problem, always happy to help and keep the list On Topic

toward the end of the song put it through an effects processor to echo the
last bit of it, then flipped the record over, mid-set, while the echo was
going, and played the other side. Brilliant!

I used to do something like this with an old ST when I played live, at the
end of the track I'd turn the effects up to allow me to load the next song,
god bless working with 512K

LFO
I've heard a few of the tracks from the new album, nothing like back in the
day I'd say, that time has gone and IMHO LFO have moved with the times and
are very techno, LFO still makes noises I dream off and continue to push
with fantastic arrangements.

Kraftwerk
We'll looking through my notes, 26yrs ago I got my first Kraftwerk 12
Autobahn, man - that thing change my life and that of many others.

As for Juan hearing them, not sure but people like the Human League and Cabs
where doing stuff in 74 that isn't too far away. It was more to do with what
the equipment could do I believe...

Re: [313] Track i.d. (easy)

2001-01-17 Thread Jonny McIntosh
It's on Yoruba records, can't quite remember the title, I'll dig it out when
I get home, I've just got into work, though! Think it's number 25. It's
maybe called Latina Cafe or that's the flipside. It's a very good release.

Jonny.

I think this is a fairly well known track, cause I've heard it on at least
one other mix online, just not sure why I missed this. I'm currently
hearing
it on Mike Grant's frequencydetroit.com house mix, at around the 49min
mark
it comes in, funky house with a female spoken word bit throughout, the
main
part of which says (I think): power to conquer, for the self-defence...,
over a really beautiful organ riff. Thanks.

Re: [313] Track i.d. (easy)

2001-01-17 Thread Jonny McIntosh
Quick search on altavista reveals it's probably by Osunlade and called
Power To Conquer. The EP is called Latina Cafe, and is, as I said, on
Yoruba. Sorry to take two emails to tell you this, I should've checked
first. Does anyone know anymore about the label, I've heard a few things on
it that have all been of a high standard?

Jonny.

I love that track. Some german project sampled it couple years ago, can't
remember what. It wasn't that good.
That track has a distinct moaning-style of singing, kinda like the singer
rises his voice to falsetto at the end of the sentence. There was a track on
FSOL's LP (Dead cities?) which had a vocalist doing similar stunts, only of
course, exaggerating it in a typical FSOL style (MUCHO echo!).
