Does anyone remember an album by Niko Marks and Eddie Fowlkes that came out years ago. It was a mix of electronic music and live instruments. Yeah City Boy Players, thats the one. That was a great album. Re: [313] Funk D void in Detroit Tonight (Positive Education)
wow, don't even get me started on 'Positive Education' ... i'd be interested to find how well played it is around the states, for me this is one of my all time favourite records ... though the 'progressive house' version on the flipside is a bit iffy. there's a newer version out with Derrick Carter, Plastikman, Luke Slater remixes on vinyl and CD that's much better... of course i'm wondering when Slam are going to release another album, and when they're going to stop by in California! speaking of slam mixes, for those who haven't checked, theres a rather decent Slam mix tucked away on the Somarecords.com website, just pretend to fill in the online form and you get a free 25 minute mp3. Shorter Gene Farris mix there also. --Original Message-- From: Paul Hudson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Sent: October 23, 2000 8:08:56 AM GMT Subject: Re: [313] Funk D void in Detroit Tonight I hear he's done a mix of e-dancer's 'banjo'... anyone heard this can provide comments? A fantastic record and definatly a favorite of mine. Overall a mellow sound but builds and builds in a way that reminds me of Slams Positive Education for some reason. of course i'm wondering when Slam are going to release another album, and when they're going to stop by in California! Lifted this about Slam from the etronik website (www.etronik.com). Hope it's what you want to hear. Scottish producers Slam, aka Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle have been speaking exclusively to etronik about their own release schedule as well as their plan for their label, Soma. The duo, who have a new mix CD, 'Past Lessons, Future Theories' available on Distinctive on October 30th, have revealed that they are currently putting the finishing touches to their second artist album, the follow up to 1996's acclaimed 'Headstates' debut. The as yet untitled work should be ready for release in March 2001. They duo also intend to do a full live tour to support the work, taking in live instrumentalists. Slam also said that albums from Californian producers H-Foundation and Maas are expected next year while Slam have collaborated on a 120 bpm techno style thing with Mo'Wax boss James Lavelle to celebrate the label's one-hundredth release. Soma also release their seventh compilation at the end of November, featuring tracks from Gene Farris, Percy X, Pressure Funk and Silicone Soul.

RE: [313] Funk D void in Detroit Tonight
I'd recommend anyone who hasn't heard Funk D' Void to check this guy out ... live in Glasgow he is superb, and the stuff he's put out under Funk D' Void and Chaser has been very, very decent: ranging from the hardstuff (luckystrike 98 is vgood) to excellent chilled stuff on chaser. I hear he's done a mix of e-dancer's 'banjo'... anyone heard this can provide comments? since moving to california, i'm finding it harder to locate record stores offline to check out records. (so i'll also slide in a blatant plea for help for anyone in the area to help me with this :D) cheers, neil --Original Message-- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Sent: October 21, 2000 7:32:19 PM GMT Subject: [313] Funk D void in Detroit Tonight Funk D void - Live info- 1 800 312-5232 248-870-1255 __ FREE Personalized Email at Mail.com Sign up at http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup
