I didn't want to seem too literal minded, but I couldn't find the
Lodge Parkway on Todd's shirt. OK well I am too literal minded -- the
design is beautiful.

Manchester is on it. The two sided (wrap) t-shirt has it on the front -
right next to Sheffield and Grand Rapids (ha ha ha ha ha ha!)
However, Minneapolis is not and we've got Prince.

next up - where it comes from.. and where it goes to. [who wants to

third - an alt color combo [yes, I am gunning for 2 colors, Kent],

why not- 3d text in simulating the Ren Cen [technically, 1 color]

the reality of it all - the beautiful decay of a glossy, yet decrepit
city known as Detroit.

best so far!!! except i am not fond of the 3d font and think the

placing it on the tshirt? across the front or in the upper left hand

Your design on the front of the shirt and Raul's design on the back

Nicely done, but doesn't speak to me. The b-boy
esthetic certainly is one of the underpinnings of techno,
but I miss the futuristic aspect. Typography always
carries a lot of layers of meanings :)

Or maybe the 313@hyperreal.org in a futuristic
style and then the tag ... how Detroit is *that* ?!

Okay, so someone said the more the merrier, so I'll post up a less
technical looking (though a bit du jour I admit) option. It's a free
font, my own script and a phrase that I think captures both the attitude
and OT nature of the list at once (depending on whether you read it with
or without the pause).
Of course that's the artsy way of saying that I was laughing at the
phrase in my head as I read the threads and thought, I should put that
on a shirt. So I opened illustrator and there it is.

Gives me a broader view of the listmembers and what else they're about.

Okay, so someone said the more the merrier, so I'll post up a less
technical looking (though a bit du jour I admit) option. It's a free
font, my own script and a phrase that I think captures both the attitude

It may look a little bitted out at first (the hosting company's
compression). It's a rather large jpg. It looks a lot cleaner when you
view it at full size, though your browser may make you scroll. Just
click the image and it should resize for ya. Lemme know if this is what
it is.

RE: (313) 313 list T Shirts for DEMF? ideas

2008-02-28 Thread Stoddard, Kamal
I was placing the list addy square across the front chest, which should
put the other text block under your left tit/teat/pec. I like the font,
and probably won't change anything much unless something really makes
stupidly obvious sense to me. The real reason I did this one, was
because I saw too much thought going into the rest. So consequentially,
I won't think much further than I've gone with it (plus I like it). If
you have a change, feel free to hook it up though *cough*$tinki*cough*.
It'd be interesting to see what comes back. I still wanna see Todd's
though. He's really gd.

best so far!!! except i am not fond of the 3d font and think the
whole design needs to be condensed a little. and where are you
placing it on the tshirt? across the front or in the upper left hand
corner? nobody needs to be reading my gut.

Yea the 313 tower looking design isn't bad. it does seem to
'pixelate' or approximate the text, like old ascii warez nfo files.

Not that that's bad. It just looks a little aliased or something.

I would actually buy a shirt if it had a design along these lines on it!
I like the blocky aesthetic of it. I especially like that I had to
look at if for a while to make out the "313" lettering.

That said, Frank, I think the design could stand some tweaking because
it appears, to me at least, that shapes spell out "AE", which I guess
could make it double as an Autechre t-shirt (which is also fine with
me). I think the shapes need to appear to spell something more
Detroit-techno related, or the numbers themselves need to look a little
more evocative of numbers.

Like I said, if you make shirts with this or a comparable design and you
keep the price reasonable, I'll buy one.

I'll have a couple of designs up tomorrow for people to have a neb at.

Come on Tom, let it go. When you guys beef, neither of you show your
best side. And in this particular case? What they say in Iowa is,
the smaller the stakes, the bigger the beef. It sounds funnier when
you say it out loud.

For the record, I've brought Fred to Iowa to play and people still
talk about it, and he was fun to be around, and in terms of techno
history, his place is indisputable. Tom I have tremendous respect for
as well as a DJ and a music fan. I try and stay neutral in this thing,
but in a perfect world, Tom and Fred would keep their ill will off the
list entirely.

Ideas for Tshirts (made with sincere sarcasm).

Martin Dust for President

I remember when the 313 list...

I support Gianelli

I support Cox (can be bought in a duel front/back so
both are supported)

I remember this one night Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig,
Derrick May and (insert own)...

I am more deaf than you. Support Detroit techno.

Support your local DJ.No Guestlist.

Don't blame me, blame the moderator

I lurk, there for I M

I trainspot 313 tracks better than you.

I'm so oldskool I don't go out anymore.
