Re: (313) track id: want/need/feel my love
That's a good one -- don't know anything about Elis Pacheco, but DJ Camacho and DJ Disciple did additional work on this remix, two of the best exponents of mid-90s NY house before it got completely formulaic. Disciple in particular put out a lot of really top-level tracks I think he was involved with Eightball Records when I visited there in 1995 with label boss Ramon Wells (who used to live here in Portland, and has been running his own dot dot dot records since 1999). fh - >Alex always schools me on bomb vocal house cuts that I don't know. Re: (313) Track id s
Thanks for the id`s! I can`t find Redshape`s remix of Deetron's 'Life Soundtrack' on discogs, but I really like the track by Benoît Pueyo. I`ll try to hunt for some more tracks from that list. It seems as if they are alle released on netlabels. Thanks for pointing me to the tracklist. Anybody else had some luck on id-ing the other tracks? Oh, and they left out "ketamine house" as well, LOL ... Hard, uncompromising, tweaking samples produce a hypnotic effect. ex: Adonis, L.A. Williams * Afro house: A form of house developed in Brooklyn, New York which reflects the cultural heritage of Africa and the African Diaspora. Incorporates deep percussive elements, chants, and organic African instruments and voices. Artists include Osunlade, Jephte Guillaume, Ian Friday, Antonio Ocasio and DJ Sabine. * Ambient house (see ambient music): Mixing the moody atmospheric sounds of New Age and ambient music with pulsating house beats. * Chicago house: Simple basslines, driving four-on-the-floor percussion and textured keyboard lines are the elements of the original house sound. ex: Larry Heard, Steve Poindexter * Deep house: A slower variant of house (around 120 BPM) with warm sometimes hypnotic melodies. ex: Gemini, Glenn Underground, Kevin Yost. * Disco house: A more upfront variant of house that relies heavily on looped disco samples. ex: DJ Sneak, Paul Johnson and Stardust. * Electro house: A style of dance music which has rapidly increased in popularity since the early 2000s. A common misconception is that Electro House is influenced by early 80s Electro, when in actual fact it has a lot more in common with Electroclash, Synth pop and Italo disco. ex: Steve Angello, Eric Prydz. * Epic house: A variant of progressive house featuring lush synth-fills and dramatic (some would say pretentious) beat breakdowns. * Filtered house: A variant of disco house similar to French house (but with less Italo-disco and synthpop crossover) that incorporates pronounced use of filters (e.g. cutoff, flanger, phaser, chorus, and similar effects) and enhanced dynamics processing (usually resulting in pumping basslines and swirling percussion) to render a distinctively analog or "oldschool funky" feel to the production. ex. Ian Carey, Hott 22. * Freestyle house: A Latin variant of NY house music, which began development in the early 1980s by producers like John Jellybean Benitez. Seen by some as an evolution of electro funk. * French house: A late 1990s house sound developed in France. Inspired by the '70s and '80s funk and disco sounds. Mostly features a typical sound "filter" effect. ex: Daft Punk, Alan Braxe, Le Knight Club, Synthique * Funky house: Funky house as it sounds today first started to develop during the late 1990's. It can again be sub-divided into many other types of house music. French house, Italian house, Disco house, Latin house and many other types of house have all contributed greatly to what is today known as Funky house. It is recognizable by its often very catchy bassline, swooshes, swirlls and other synthesized sounds which give the music a bouncy tempo. It often relies heavily on black female vocals or disco samples and has a recognizable tiered structure in which every track has more than one build-up which usually reaches a climax before the process is repeated with the next track. ex: Axwell, Seamus Haji and ATFC to name but a few. * Garage: This term has changed meaning several times over the years. The track is Claude Von Stroke, "Who's Afraid of Detroit". It's on this ep: http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/223226-01.htm Artist: VONSTROKE, Claude Title: The Whistler Label: Go Deeva Italy Cat No: GDV 013/GDV 06013 Format: 12" Released: 12 June, 2006 There are remixes of the track, by Audion, Tanner Ross, and Kevin Saunderson (yes, there's a literal 313 connection in the end here!), though I think I prefer the original: http://www.juno.co.uk/products/252353-01.htm The amusing thing to me was that Juno calls the original record "electrohouse/electroclash" ... while the remix record is "minimal/tech house" ... I don't get it? The genre thing has just gotten weird lately, or more to the point, totally arbitrary. How are we supposed to know which genres we detest, when nobody can decide which records belong to which genres? Sounds like Rodamaal - Insomnia. probably the ame remix. Did it have some sexy portuguese vocals? Used to love that track but its charm has been lost in a sea of epic lush ame ripoffs. http://www.discogs.com/release/465408. weird that Ame's discogs artist page isnt showing any releases for me today. But the fact is that i have heard it recently at Depp Space @ Cielo NY, but also in a party with Laurent Garnier and in a recorded show from Deetron. OK so - it's the Isaac hayes record Ron Hardy is playing? Will buy pronto. What form's it's easiest to find in? (not to bad to pick up as a 2nd hand 12, easier to find the Hayes album with it on, rare and easier to get on a comp etc.) I do still like the record sampling it though. And in my defence if you're saying "stuff this modern version" and > you've obviously taken far too many drugs this weekend. the clip I posted is from those Deep Space Radio shows that were knocking round a while back. So far (still on the 2nd out of 8 files) it's the record on there I've heard I most want (that I don't already own) - and I made my mind up about that a while ago so it has nothing to do with what you think I may have been up to at the weekend (but haven't - I've had a quiet year so far I'll have you know). Can you download from that deephousepage site? There's a button to click which says you can but it's just bringing up Realplayer for me. I'd like to listen further (and would love some Ron Hardy mixes anyway) but haven't time at mo - I'm not absolutely convinced they are different tracks (and if they're not ya-boo-sucks to you as you've IDed the track I asked about and have no right to poke fun at me for liking some rip off. Actually you've no right to poke fun at anyone anyway).

Alongside big tracks like Hercules - 7 Ways, Sleazy D - I've Lost Control, and Bam Bam - Where is your child. For a few years there you couldn't hear a Dave Clarke mix a set without Atom Bomb. also mixes great with Zaffa's 'Atomic Nation', heh. peace -- MM http://sonicsunset.com
