There are really good fitted earplugs you can purchase for upwards of $100,
and they are a very worthwhile investment. Everyone I know who uses them
swears by them. However, if you're a cheapskate like me, use what's
available. I use an unsmoked cigarete butt, torn down the middle vertically.
You fold both halves in half again and insert to fit. They filter out a lot
of the highs which are most damaging, without muffling everything. If you
ain't a smoker, toilet paper or paper towells wadded up will work although I
find that less comfortable.

I recommend these options because they will get you in the habit of looking
for something to put in your ears, and eventually you'll notice just how
much even these crap methods help. If you think you need to do something,
you certainly do. Those foam earplugs you can buy in bulk work too well for
my taste, and they tend to muffle things a lot - only really recommended for
ceiling-falling-apart affairs, in which case they work wonders. You'll
forget you have them in. Kent was the life of the Planet E party this year @
DEMF with his bag-o-plugs. :)

ooo...Live on the decks 3...good one...from the year before...I loved
the sound system at Psychosis 5. Nothing like hearing Rolando and Kevin
Saunderson just blast the f**k out of them speakers.

awsome...

you need to own a copy of the kinky scientist record...classic!

my final comment.
best sound ever was at the 10 yrs +8, the remeber fred
played that weird track off of the kinky scientist
(donimation record? i don't own it. wish I did) album
and is sounded like the bass was on it's way to hell, no
distortion, just all out boom. that party and live on
the decks 3 my favorite. 10 yrs +8 was deffently less
hectic.

i think i lost a good percentage of hearing in my right ear due to my
speaker fixation. carl craig at 'come together' at the theater a couple
years ago did some permanent damage for sure...to my ears and the ceiling.

i know this has been covered before, but what is the best type of hearing
protection that still allows you to enjoy the music? i have never used any
before.

I did not think the control system was dirty one bit. I
congratulated the sound guys on a job well done. maybe
not as clean as the ten years party, but it was in a
different venue and room sound has a lot to do with it.

and your right there is a strange feeling when the
system is at it's very low volume level but you still
get the pressure level. it's alomost like a phased
stactic sound that just surronds you. I love it.

I am really curious as to haw many of those shows you
can goto and be a speaker freak and still hear???

so I always wear ear plugs, I need my ears, to right
work for th rest of my life
