the age old is it music or is it noise debate,at the end of the day if it
makes you moove then it is justified as a form of entertainment, thus who
are we to comment on whether or not it is or is not music. for the people
who enjoy d'n'b it most certainly is music but for the rest it sounds like,
a person that fell down a flight of stairs with their drum kit. however if
it entertains then it justifiably takes its place as a musical genre. i
would like to think thath there are a number of people that enjoy d'n'b that
enjoy all good music not just their own particular favourite, there is after
all only two types of music out there "good" and "bad" music. as the old
saying goes "beauty is in the eye, or in this case ear, of the beholder.
finaly if you get nothing out of a particular piece of music it's fair to
say for you it's "bad" music and vice versa if it's "good" music, but your
"bad" music is just your own taste or opinion and as everyone knows opinions
are like arseholes. everyone has one and sometimes they are full of shit. so
now a little pause for thoughtit's all house music

Shosh.
P.S it's just my opinion

music is so much more -

communication and projections

much of 313-music is full of things to talk about

but it should happen a much higher level then only comments about taste -

incl. some respect 4 the musicians beeing judged by others -

so much more then any other people get judged 4 what they do 4 some reason

Of course it also can´t go without bringing in your perspective...

but a lil more reflective then sometimes b4 - pleeez

(respect 4 some ewoks too)

... still preparing some blabla in my mind bout that 4 the list

I know exactly what you mean it is so much more than just taste, but before
anything else you have to appreciate the music, first you have to feel it
then and only then can you offer a view. In the end though if music is a
feeling and you ain't feeling it it ain't music to you. Your view can
however change if you are prepared to open yourself to new experiences and
through practice, ie. listening, you can then train your ear to enjoy it.
When you know the effort and thought that has gone into a composition you
can't help but admire the individuals or person that created the piece.
Question is a piece of music as valid knowing the creator/s are doing it to
make a quick killing or are the struggling musicians out there the true
music makers?

Blimey what a heavy composition!

what do you mean by that ?

- the grammar and stuff ? - pffr

or you got the meaning and you complain about that ?

you could complain a bit more detailed then -

- oh and robin - about the bla-man thing

hm listen - I would love to shut up and just read and learn more

about the deeper things in 313-culture -

(beside the always good2know record collector-stuff)

but most comments here - are so flat and are just üärgh -

I mean why the f±±± is this rubbish almost every day, like:

"Mills should do and write this and that", or yesterday - "Stacey Pullen
should

mix like this" so people give him a mark as if it´s about getting marks at
school ?

the Music needs to be like this and that ? ? ?

What do you know about the meaning of certain drum patterns ?

The meaning of african culture in music (and techno music) and how

it developes through the circumstances the dominating nations create on the
planet.

What is it that makes you move - beside "banging beats" or that it´s "hot" ?

I´m here 4 understanding more ...

does that make sense ?

ps - alex reece "c" not "s" was the pulp fiction one -

and - adam f - bob james sampling - octave one - bob james roadies

off 2day

party nite nite

RE: [313] is it music?

2002-01-25 Thread Stephen Kelly

a couple of thoughts..

it's a reese bassline - kevin master reese saunderson.. not alex
'metalheadz' reece.. d'n'b/hardcore had reese basslines before it had alex
reece.. nobody who was into d'n'b should even make this mistake or else they
haven't been listening..

d'n'b has proved itself - it's influenced modern r'n'b and spawned the whole
uk garage thing - personally i'm not into either, but it proves that d'n'b
has influenced/inspired people - so it's music.. techno influenced d'n'b
(see above) and you don't have to be into both, but you can't go around
saying one thing isn't music just 'cause you're not into it.. turning your
nose up at d'n'b is no better than the d'n'b people (a load of ex-ravers who
discovered a few techno records round about 1993) who deserted photek when
he put house tracks on the last album..

i like delsin.. the new delsin album by dimension5 is lush..

Re: [313] is it music?

2002-01-25 Thread Super Coffee Beans
as a person who started out in drum`n`bass- that was my first music i really
got into - than i decided to build a little studio and started spinning. i
can say i feel drum`n`bass in a lot of the techno i hear today, people like
charles Noel which i really really like and stuff like Bpitch control
(mainly i feel the ellen alien tracks are full of drum`n`bass ideads).
i agree with stephan the dimention 5 on delsin is just great album.

That's stretching the truth -- nobody spun a hardcore/drum'n'bass set with
just Bug in the Bassbin and a few KMS records... There were a lot of great
records coming straight out of the British hardcore/rave scene back then,
and though Detroit techno influenced a *few* of them, the scene was totally
self-supporting.
