RE: (313) forthcoming fabric mix CD

2004-01-06 Thread Grammenos, Peter

If you don't feel the soul in 'easy Lee' by ricardo, or the dirty raw funk
in the plong 9 track 'le dust sucker', or the nostalgia associated with the
wetban and nena track, or the pop brilliance in the richard davis tracks, or
or.. Ah forget it, if you don't get it, you don't get it ;)

Michael Mayer's Fabric CD is my release of the year - can't exaggerate
 how
fantastic it is - got a few CDR of mixes of his off the net and can't
 get
enough of them. He and his team in Cologne are going places this year
 for
sure. My other release of the year is Rhythm Sound's The Artists on

 get
it.. About to play... I wish I could be more excited about Tyrant! ;)
 Great
music on Craig's part, but something's missing I lot of people into 313

 to
spin yet, but it's still the hottest CD among discerning heads here
 right

Mayer mix is dull and plodding while RS gets a shout (presumably because
they're *not* those things)... Does... not... compute...

(And I LOVE RS.)

Some RS is definately plodding-

but the vocalists on the artists cd make it fresh.

but note everyone is jockig the artists disc, and not the instrumental
versions...

Ohhh as far as the Mayer Fabric CD...it's ok but nowhere near as good as his
Imer CD and it's way way too pricey here in the states - I think I'll burn
it from Grammenos;)

Just my .02
