I just recently picked up Terrence Dixon's 'Far from the Future', which I really like a lot. Does he have anything else out that is still in print? thanx, cc --== Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ ==-- Before you buy.

Earth 2976 is one of my alltime favourites, it´s got some spooky timing as well, I wouldn´t be surprised if there was a little bit of mc303 or some shit syncin everything till ett rent helvete.. I'd like to know too. "From The Far Future" was amazing, and amazingly under-exposed too. CC, Similarly to you, I only recently got around to buying Terrence's last Tresor album, and am now wondering why I missed it first time round as it's very good indeed. Terrence has just released a new 12" called 'Minimalism Part 2', again on the Background label. I've reviewed it for the new issue of Overload Magazine (out now) and gave it recommended release status. You can read the review online at our web-site, which incidentally has just had an overhaul and is much more user-friendly. http://www.overloadmedia.co.uk (yeah yeah, so it's a plug - but tell me if I'm lyin'!) I have been a fan since I first played Terrence Dixon in 1994. When he remixed one of my songs in 2009 (released in 2010), it took me a while to wrap my head around it. Like that remix and his music and reworks of others and especially his live sets: TD does exactly what he wants. That is a good thing. So many others afraid to take risks, afraid to do something different, worried what others think. TD just does his thing. Re: New Terrence Dixon
Terrence Dixon is an incredible musician. I WAS a big fan until recently when I finally grew tired of his bullying: sending abusive messages to myself and many others (I have seen the screenshots) because of the ongoing campaign to bring #TheTaker (a Detroit DJ who runs Transmat) to task for a) unpaid royalties to people including Thomas Barnett, Blake Baxter, Dr Motte, Cisco Ferreira, Eddie Fowlkes, Michael James b) not crediting collaborators correctly c) most importantly, the growing number of reports from many women that #TheTaker takes advantage of women as he benefits from the 1988 Belleville 3 marketing still 32 years later implying that he is an innovator. Terrence Dixon remixed one of my songs released in 2009, so when I deleted all things related to him including his remix of me it was particularly painful to know that a man once a hero to me is no longer viewed the same way. Terrence Dixon review from Dotmusic.com
TERRENCE DIXON - 'FROM THE FAR FUTURE' (TRESOR) Released on: Mon 17 Apr 2000 Detroit techno aficionados will already be fans of Detroit native Terrence Dixon and his prodigious techo outpourings over the years. He began carving out his own deep Detroit styled miminalist sound back in 1994 and has worked closely with such techno superstars as Juan Atkins and Claude Young. Now Terrence is back for 2000 with a deep'n'dreamy collection of sultry tracks. There's nothing hard, banging or jarring in any of the 11 tunes on the album. Each track melts seamlessly into the next as the album flows sinuously from beginning to end. It's the kind of techno you'll find in the chill out room; therefore it's also the kind of techno that won't totally alienate the neighbours if you play it at home. It's smooth, it's safe and it's sensible. Techno for grown ups.

(313) new Terrence Dixon remix now online
Apologies to Kent for being one of the folks who forgot to send as plain text; Just added a remix from Terrence Dixon to http://soundcloud.com/andrewdukecognitionaudio Other 313 content there includes remixes from Claude Young, Orlando Voorn, and Detroit People Mover. Soon come is a remix from K-HAND. There's remixes also up there from listmembers Chaircrusher and Area, and also a remix I did for Tristan "Phonopsia" Watkins. Thanks. Terrence Dixon (was: Mixer US reviews in advance)
In a message dated 4/12/00 9:42:46 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: << >>(Dixon's co-production on Juan Atkins' 1998 "Skynet" album, >>for various reasons, went uncredited, which led to this project on Tresor). This doesn't surprise me. Skynet was the first thing that came to mind when I listened to Far Future on Cognition. What's the deal with Terrence not getting his credit? I don't have any particular insight into that one to be honest, I just know that Terrence worked on "Skynet". Also, this had led me to think: Considering the (perceived) similarity between the two albums, did Terrence have more input into Skynet than we are to believe or did he manage to come away from that project with a new view on making music thanks to Juan? Reading your first sentence in the review, I take it, Alan, that you'd agree with the latter? Well, it's still the same Terrence Dixon who did the records on Dow, just with better gear. And after all this time, you can't help but get good. Look at me ! It's only taken me 10 years to learn to make good tracks. More likely, Terrence was working on these tracks at the same time as the Skynet album. Anyone know more? > > >>water torture beats (KDJ, Theo, Alton Miller, etc.) I guess this makes me a masochist ;-) Don't get me wrong. I like KDJ and those cats. I loved "Silent Introduction". It's just more listening-oriented to me. When I am off from DJing and want to hear some good, bumpin' house music at a club, I look no further than Stacey Pullen's residency at Motor. His nights always seem to coincide with a) me being home and b) my girlfriend being in town. Respect JasonB >> a. www.puresonikrecords.net np: terrence dixon "untitled"

(313) Detroit on the remix -- Shake & Terrence Dixon
Shake's mix of MadTeo (NYC producer with ties to Joy Orbison), and Dixon's mix of Trus'me (Manchester house dude) are both worth checking. I'm partial to the Shake mix of the two, because it's something besides 4 to the floor Techno, but the Dixon remix (which is 4 to the floor) is pretty deep as well. http://boomkat.com/downloads/527961-trus-me-in-the-red-dvs1-mix-shakea-body-terrence-dixon-mix http://boomkat.com/downloads/536913-madteo-recast-marcellus-pittman-kassem-mosse-anthony-shakir-remixes

And what is Terrence Dixon up to these days? Looking at my chart in that issue (some weird typos in there, Dan!), I noticed that I had charted one of my tracks called "Doppler Effect" (remember now that Fred Gianelli really liked that one), which is sorta cool now because I titled that song that well before I ever heard (and fell in love with) a certain Detroit act called Dopplereffekt!
