Our claim to fame it seems. Been on every mixtape since 1996, I believe.

Worth seeking this one out, anyone
have the jungle mix CD by Paris, how does it compare (besides music style,
 obviously).

Ah yes, the Tiger/Crane technique. Jungle/DrumBass has been Paris' secret
weapon for several years. It's a tool he has used to work out frustrations
and make impressions. After working hip-hop tricks to death in the lab he
stumbled across (and introduced me to) some deep dark brit tracks. Expect
Rush and Optical classics driven hard and put away wet. Not a supersmooth
Bukem style, but not jump up either. A lot of tech-step, heavy on the dark
atmosphere and tight percussion. Hyperspeed hip-hop cuts. Please don;t
ask me to trainspot this stuff.

Imagine flooring it on 94, passing an officer, then realizing your breaks
don't work. (insert maniacal Black Fu laugh here.)

tracks on it that are definitely his, but unreleased to my knowledge...

I finally tracked this new mixtape down (Methods of Movement), Groovy Train
in Ferndale (next to the other RecordTime location on 9 Mile) had this new
one and the one from 1999 (Theo Parrish Live in Detroit). Love this
stuff, plenty of pops and hisses... amazing historical selections, the soul
is thicker than the scum around Zug Island.

RecordTime also has the exquisite Dan Bell mix CD on Tresor and the Paris
the Black Fu mix CD on THROW (there are 2 volumes, 1 techno and 1 jungle).
I got the techno one, very Claude Young stylee mixing, aggressive in true
detroit fashion everything is pitched way up and cut-n-scratch. Extra long

Is this mixtape available online anywhere? Any chance the Submerge
crew stocks mixtapes?

Last time I checked they didn't have any Theo Parrish mixtapes.
Record Time does though.

Happy hunting!

Otto, who probably needs a replacement for his copy of the 'last of 97'
mixtape...
