Jet Set and song id
What do people think of the Jet Set EP by Jeff Mills? I finally got around to picking it up on Saturday and I'm not very impressed. Is it me or is he just churning 'em out these days? And now on to the song id. Preacher-style acapella vocals (in the same vein as those on Mr Fingers, Can You Feel It?) ending with and they (we?) still teach kids (children?) to play house. Or something. Thanks in advance. Sounds like Green Velvets Preacher man, I believe it was on the first Green Velvet release that came out on Relief I'm speaking of the correct tune. Really stomping track with an aggressive FM synth sounding dancing around throughout. dK -Original Message- From: FC3 Richards [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 02, 2001 10:44 AM To: 'Robin Crampton' Cc: '313@hyperreal.org' Subject: RE: [313] Jet Set and song id that song would also be on the Derrick May mix CD, i believe. also know as the Mayday Mix 97? if i am thinking of the right track... -Original Message- From: Robin Crampton [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 02, 2001 4:03 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: [313] Jet Set and song id And now on to the song id. Preacher Man is used quite effectively on that mix. Tristan __ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! Mail. http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/?.refer=text
Re: [313] jet set?
yeah, i heard it. didn't really do anything for me, especially after the string of amazing releases he's put out recently (metropolis, every dog). it's good though, the one track one it's own side particularly stood out. - Original Message - From: Kyle J Dupuy [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2001 9:22 AM Subject: [313] jet set? maybe i just missed it, but i don't recall reading any mention of mills' latest edition to the purpose maker series. i like it. it's more tech-housey than some of his other stuff, not quite as banging, and a little bit slower. some nice bass lines, as is typcial with many of his tracks. anyone else have any input? Re: [313] jet set?
i LOVE it. the first track, a1-Power, is like a mix between tribal house and Lil' Louis type house if you take a close listen to it. you can mix with either style in mind. it mixes well with a lot of the more tribal-sounding PM releases too.
