Re: Microsoft Azure & 4D

Hi John,

> First my apologies to Bruno for mutilating his name.
No offence taken :-)

For those who may be interested, I have recently used S3 for an online shop. S3
is storing the pictures.
I used AWS CDN solution (CloudFront) mostly to have custom url and https (free
certificates) on the picture urls. CDN was a bonus in this case.

Let us know about Azure if and when you start using it.

Re: Windows Server 2012 & 4D Server v17.2

2019-07-22 Thread Paul Dennis via 4D_Tech
Did you change the install path on the server ? If so then its the firewall.
In the Windows firewall you define either the ports to be open or for the
application itself to accept connections. If you have changed the path then
it will be treated as a new application and unable to accept connections.

Is it not possible for them to give you temp RDP access to the control panel
?

Re: Microsoft Azure & 4D

2019-07-22 Thread Paul Dennis via 4D_Tech
I use the AWSCLI tools to sync and move my locally generated pdf's to S3
using launch external process. When pdf's are generated I call AWSCLI and it
syncs or moves the files.

Is this because the client wants the email url to come from the same the
domain ? If so the best option would be to use a nginx proxy this would
split the connections between 4d and S3 but the URLs sent to the end-user
would always be from the same domain. This way you can keep 4D wherever you
want and you can secure connections between the two. It doesn't make sense
to load the 4D web server delivering PDF files. Nginx can do that for you.
Cheers
Paul

PDF Viewer

2019-07-22 Thread UKVetDerm via 4D_Tech
Dear all
Anyone having difficulties with Mac PDF Viewer plugin (2.01) with Mojave and
v17 (r4 and r5) 64 bit. Can’t decide whether I have a bad form or there is a
more systemic problem.
Thanks

Re: PDF Viewer

2019-07-22 Thread Chuck Miller via 4D_Tech
Why do you need a PDF viewer plugin. Just place pdf in a pict field on a mac
and voila you can view it. You could also create a web area on a form and
simply use that

I have been using it for years, there are some neat commands for navigation. If
it has passed its useful life then I will need to rethink, but just needed a
little feedback before I start spending a pile of time on this

Thanks S

Re: Windows Server 2012 & 4D Server v17.2

2019-07-22 Thread Jody Bevan via 4D_Tech
Oh, red faced with pie on it on this one.

We tested the application on a server in our office. Unknown to me the
application was being run on port 19833.

Unknown to me this port setting travels with the structure file to our client’s
server. I thought I had checked that, but likely did not pay enough attention
to the detail that it ended in ’33’ instead of ’13’.

Something so simple. I had them check the Windows Firewall, and numerous other
things.

Thanks John Baughman, Ed Glassgow, and Paul Dennis for your replies.

In the end good news, nothing strange, just a simple setting that I neglected
to set back. Now wiser. Guess I have been away from setting up servers for too
long.

4D eMail Editor - full HTML support

2019-07-22 Thread rooftop99--- via 4D_Tech
HI All,

Environment: All Windows OS, 4D v16R4 Server/Client (Headed to v17 64bit
soon…)

Our marketing department is creating eMails in Outlook which included images,
hyperlinks (text and image), backgrounds, etc. We would like to take these
emails and copy the body content into a field in 4D to be retrieved for future
email campaigns sent from 4D. The links, images and formatting need to be
maintained.

I have looked at 4D Write Pro as an option but it doesn’t appear to accept the
entire contents of an outlook email via paste and it is expensive. Also looked
at TinyMCE in a WebArea… potential.

Just checking to see if anyone is doing something similar and would be willing
to steer me in the right direction.

Thanks!
Kirk
