Re: [abcusers] Three-handed job.

2001-07-24 Thread Jack Campin

The Apple writer did admit that there was still a roughly 2-second
delay in switching between keyboard and mouse. If the users of
this sort of UI would just make the necessary hardware upgrades
to take advantage of the design, this delay could be eliminated
entirely, and users could make full use of its capabilities with
no clumsy switching delays. But for some reason, users insist
on sticking with their legacy 2-handed hardware.
Sometimes users can be so bullheaded ...

People used to talk about the man-machine interface. Not a phrase
used much now for obvious reasons, but it always seemed to me that
it ought to mean never needing to use your thumb on the space bar.
Or perhaps, with a bit more training, a pointing device. A vertical
trackpad on the edge of the desk ought to do it.

Yes. Quote Les. Barker - Tune `when I'm cleaning windows' G. Formby.

[abcusers] abc2winamp one day ? / AbcMus

2001-07-24 Thread Forgeot Eric

About Abcmus, is there a new release planed ?

Yes. I've started working hard again (since about 6 weeks) on a
new version 2.0. I plan to have it ready latest by the end of
September. This version will include printing of sheet music.

Great ! About sheet music, I think I'll stay faithfull to abc to
postscript interpreters, but it could be nice to have this
feature. I think I would be the first window$ program which could
have both midi support and viewing of sheet music.

Will it support batch conversion of midi files ? (all
the tunes in one abc file - multiple midi files)

Since you suggest it, why not? I've put it on the wish list.

Even greater ! I hope you still have planned to add a playlist
support, because there's a gap in the abc softwares about this :
we can't play several abc pieces one after one automatically.
AbcNavigator can in some extends, but after some adjustments.

We could dream for a winamp abc plugin ;)
I don't know if it would be easy to port a software such as
Abc2midi into a dll for winamp, but it would be nice.
