* License:Free to try; $20.00 to buy

* Requirements: Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/Vista
* Limitations: 30-day trial

mIRC is a full featured Internet Relay Chat client for Windows that can be used
to communicate, share, play or work with others on IRC networks around the
world, either in multi-user group conferences or in one-to-one private
discussions.

It has a clean, practical interface that is highly configurable and supports
features such as buddy lists, file transfers, multi-server connections, SSL
encryption, proxy support, UTF-8 display, customizable sounds, spoken messages,
tray notifications, message logging, and more.

mIRC also has a powerful scripting language that can be used both to automate
mIRC and to create applications that perform a wide range of functions from
network communications to playing games.

This latest version of mIRC updates the interface with shiny new icons as well
as a range of other improvements, building on the previous release which added
full Vista compatibility, support for limited user accounts, U3 support, tray
notification messages, full treebar positioning, and a compact mode to make
mIRC behave like a messenger application.

Internet Relay Chat is not as well-known as ICQ, even though it successfully
combines chat and messaging without annoying ads. The IRC network is a virtual
meeting place where people from all over the world can meet and talk. With
mIRC, you can choose from an unlimited number of existing chat rooms based on
personal interests, or you can create your own channels with family and
friends. IRC is more advanced than simple messenging, so it may take a while to
get started. With a bit of browsing, though, you'll find that the mIRC
interface allows easy access to IRC features. It guides you through the initial
stages, including selecting from a wide list of servers. You can connect to
more than one IRC server at once and chat through proxy. By creating your own
channel, you can even set up a virtual meeting with colleagues. This program
suits advanced users keen to expand their chat-client functionalities. For
first-time users, mIRC offers the most functionality of any chat program
available, which can be overwhelming at first--but if you read the help files
you'll be on your way to using all the features mIRC has to offer

Subject: use of MS outlook calender with jaws

Hi friends,
My work requires plenty of follow up on the mails received so MS outlook
calender is to be used. But i have not been able to work around the outlook
calender Jaws is not announcing the date feelds to set reminders but only
announces time feelds. Please provide me with some instructions with how to
work with MS outlook calender with jaws. I'm basically required to set
reminders on incoming mails to follow up. I just need to know how can
independently work with jaws in calender and the set reminder window.

Looking for some valuable guidance. For your information I use jaws 9 with MS
outlook 2003

MUST READ!

Where do you keep your Handphone / Mobile Phone normally?

This morning I heard a true and sad story from a colleague of mine.
She told me one of her friends is always having miscarriages. When the
 baby
gets to be 2-3 months old she loses it. This happened several times over.
The couple went to check with many doctors and at last one of the doctors
examined the dead baby and found that the baby's body cells kept dying as
the baby was growing in the womb until he/she could not
 survive.This
was because her uterus was affected by HANDPHONE RADIATION. The doctor
 told
her she now has no chance to give birth to a healthy baby because the
radiation has affected her uterus so that the major portion of the cells
 in
her uterus have already died. This happened because she has been keeping
 her
handphone in her working jacket so that the phone rested against just the
right s! pot for the uterus. She had been wearing it like this for a few
years. Please beware of this and take note if you don't want what has
happened to this woman to happen to you.

Dearest family members,

Please do not ignore handphone radiation which will damage our
health or body organs. Please put away your handphone when ever you don't
 need it much .

Guys,
Please do not keep your handphone /Mobile phone near to the kidney
position and pants pocket as this will damage your genital area and affect
your ability to father a baby.

The other doctor also advised another friend to keep her handphone
/Mobile Phone away from her new born baby to avoid radiation damage to the
baby's brain cells. Do not let the baby or toddler play with the handphone
for a long time. This is because the small young baby or toddler is still
very fragile and growing, so he/she is much more vulnerable to radiation
 damage.

Please remember not to sleep together with your handphone /Mobile
Phone or put it next to your bed. Keep any other electronic goods (such as
TVs) which also give off radiation away from your bedroom to reduce risk
 as
we have to sleep a few hours every day in our bedroom at night. Further,
 do
not imagine that if you switch off the TV there will be no radiation.
Actually it is still around in your room. It is not advisable to have even
 a
small digital alarm clock close to your head while sleeping.

Take Care of yourself and your loved ones.

Thank you
 many thanks
 regards
 Mamta.

[AI] never say no to anybody

If you strain your brain a bit and think, desire to learn and explore
new things, is the answer. Ever noticed the youngsters going to work?
They are so excited, full of energy and eager to learn and explore new
things. In one word, they are unstoppable.
An older person on the other hand, has lost the desire to learn new
things. They have forgotten that change is omnipresent, our constant
companion. This is the reason that learning must be a continuous
process of our lives. We can never say, "We know enough. We don't need
to know anymore…"

  New world
Opening our eyes and ears to new experiences, we open the door to a
whole new world. Our world need not be restricted to our work and
hobbies, for our profession, and hobbies are largely related to the
exposure we have had until now. For example you can't develop your
love for paragliding until you actually do it.

  Different strokes
There is a possibility that after this exposure, to new things, we
might change our profession or hobbies, but this does not happen every
time. By the end of this exercise we will come out as a more evolved
species. this may change the way we function professionally and as a
person. For instance, it can give us new, more lucrative business idea
or break the monotony of our daily life. Courtesy this paragliding
hobby of ours we might become risk takers at work.

  Ample advantage
The more we explore, the more we become knowledgeable and a better
person. This also shows up in our work as our productivity rises. With
this plethora of benefits why should we close our doors of learning?
The older we become, the more we abhor any changes in our
surroundings, be it in the form of people, places or the tasks. The
older we get the more important does, "familiarity" become.

  State of inertia
It is generally seen that we, as people, wait to be pushed by
external factors that make us uncomfortable, until we explore solution
in order to once more find our comfort zones. these external factors
could be technological changes, like introduction of computers etc.,
which could affect our job security. Medical problems and relationship
issues could be some of the other factors.

  New horizon
Man, being a rational and an intelligent being, could embrace the
path of continuous learning by jolting oneself from this complacency
and motivate oneself to be open to new techniques and concepts. The
whole idea is that one should have the thirst for knowledge and new
concepts. Once that thirst is there, you will devise ways to quench
it.
Start by doing simple things differently…. May be tomorrow you can
try brushing your teeth with the other hand…..

[AI] When money is the message

When money is the message

Special Correspondent

Smarter messaging: New mobile tools seamlessly link phone to Web.

Bangalore: In an earlier, pre-Internet era, Marshall McLuhan warned: "The
Medium is the Message." Were he around today, the Canadian media pundit might
be tempted say: "The Money is the Message" - thanks to the mobile phone.

Sending short messages to make payments for a variety of services is catching
on, courtesy a choice of e-payment enablers in India. Obopay, the U.S.-based
pioneer in mobile payment mechanisms, has come to India.

There are a lot of Indians with a mobile phone - over 250 million of them, but
only a fraction has bank accounts. Bringing a convenient method to transfer
money, receive salaries and other payments, buy tickets, do electronic
transactions, and even split and pay restaurant bills will be a compelling
proposition
to the customer, says Aditya Menon, Obopay India's executive director.

Fuelled by a made-in-India technology, another player, mChek India Payment
Systems, has created banking and security applications including many for the
mobile user. Most recently it extended its mobile-based payment system for
Airtel, building the payment gateways into a variety of banner advertisements
one may find on web pages. A click on the banner allows the user to enter his
or her mobile number and indicate how much one wants to pay to top up a prepaid
connection or settle a post-paid bill, using credit card details already stored
securely at mChek.

Upgrading SMS

Airtel has also partnered with Affle, a U.K.-based mobile media company driven
by Indian talent, to upgrade its short messaging services to SMS 2.0 - adding
some 'smart' features such as a choice of text styles, colours and 'emoticons'
(graphic symbols). But the key difference is the advertisement or information
content that occupies the bottom of the page while one is texting. It is
'pulled' from your phone and displayed - for you to just read and enjoy (jokes,
cricket trivia and news) or follow through for an advertiser's message. Some
might think this is yet another intrusive technology, but service providers
are banking on the curiosity of many phone owners who in any case spend idle
hours playing games. You may not 'send' money in the sense mCheks and Obopays
intend, but as you read the added content you are letting someone, somewhere,
make money, using the empty space on the texting window of your phone. Sneaky,
what!

I keep my Laptop with me on my bed while sleeping. What I actually do is, I
play some spiritual audio or make Sangeeta synthesiser read some
short-stories untill I fall sleep. As I initiate automatic shutdown (after
1:0 HR or so, the computer will turn itself off after the specified time.
But my question is, does it really affect my health when my laptop doesn't
have internet connection?

Re: [AI] Safety Alert , plz read... Dont ignore

2008-02-03 Thread Vetrivel Adhimoolam
While the impact of radiation cannot be completely neglected, Not sure of
such drastic effect. As you may be aware of, there are regularities that
specify the level of radio frequencies that mobile phones and other wireless
devices can use. The manual of most handsets carry the exact info and I
don't have to repeat them here. However the missing element is the data on
the exact impact of radio frequency on human beings when they are exposed
for years and years. So unfortunately this vacume is used by some
individuals who construct dramatic stories with few scientific jargons and
pass them around quickly. So I would take it as a pinch of Sault.

[AI] removing right protection of a memory card

2008-02-03 Thread Rajesh Asudani
Dear friends

For a strange reason, my phone memory card, when connected to a pc through card
reader, does not accept any files and is declared to be right protected.
previously, it was not so, and I was able to transfer files to it via card
reader.

Would anyone please guide me as to how to remove this right protection of a
memory card when interacting with computer? I could not find any such option in
its properties.

Urgent help is aappreciated.

There are a ton of word reference sites on the Web,

But what do you do when you want to look up a word
instantly without going online for it? Well, today’s
resource offers a dictionary tool that you can
download for free. It’s light on the PC resources and
sits in your system tray, popping up only when you
summon it. A very handy device to have on any computer.

Re: [AI] Safety Alert , plz read... Dont ignore

2008-02-03 Thread Shadab Husain
Well, I presume this news is enlightening - though I do not say that
all in it is truth. But can we say that what the news channels and
newspapers are exposing is truth?

There is a great deal of hobnobbing going on among the industrialists,
politicians and editors. Industrialists are donating huge sums to the
political parties. Advertisers as they are, they are the chief source
of earning for the media outlets. Even BBC, which is a public-funded
outlet, has earned notoriety in the recent past.

Leading Indian newspapers boast that they are selling 10 million or so
copies everyday. The cost of a copy is between 2 or 3 rupees -
however, I presume, they lose a rupee on each copy daily because of
the material and labor put in it. Where are those million rupees
coming from everyday?

I say this to bring the fact home that the harms which are caused by
consumerism aren't reaching us, and looking on the contemporary
sociological and political conditions, it would be quite impractical
to say that this will change.

Temperature is rising and the world is on the cusp of destruction
because of the modern and extravagant lifestyles. But is this
modernization really bringing us closer? Humans are direly craving to
get love but this modernization is an unbreakable barrier. Far from
the real joy of life, we are lost in our iPot worlds. But are we
really able to give a proper outlet to our emotions?

And it is outrageous that people who are simple and frugal are framed
backwards. The rule of life is that if you are faithful to anybody or
any company then you will become more exploitative and expendable.
Saying this might prove hobbling for me but whatever I do not care a
damn.

We all no what is good and what bad. But we are charmed by the glitter
and glitz of modernization. Then why to blame the politicians,
industrialists and press? There is no point in blaming the loaves of
breads when the defect lies in the oven.

Loud has the Death bell rung; and fainting is the shrillness,

Mankind is bound to hear, before hearing it is death.

2008-02-03 Thread Subramani L
Not only computers, as I have learnt reading a recent column, any
electronic gadget emits a certain amount of radiation that doesn't have
any immediate impact on our health. But as one keeps using the gadgetry
for longer periods of time, the effect is said to become evident.

Friends, that's why I am warning all of those who use ear phones/head
phones to use them sparingly. No one knows what precisely be the impact,
but if radiation levels are continuously absorbed by our body, it is
supposed to affect us.

tried 3 to 4 antivirus softwares but failed. Finally, Nod 32 solved my
problem. do scan your card with nod 32. Hopefully your problem will be
solved.
Hope this helps
