Park for blind to come up in Chandigarh

Thaindian News
Chandigarh, Dec 28 (IANS) A park for the visually challenegd, which is
said to be the first such initiative of its kind in the country, is to
come up here, an official said Sunday. The foundation stone of this
park for the visually challeneged people was laid here in Sector 26
Sunday.

This will be the India's first park meant for blind people. We will
name it 'Park for Blinds' or 'Sensory Park'. We have already made the
blueprint for the project and allocated the budget of Rs.1.2 million
for this venture, Pardeep Chabhra, mayor of Chandigarh, announced at
a press conference here Sunday.

If everything goes according to plan, this park will be completed in
the next two to three months, said Chabhra.

We have acquired the vacant land adjoining the Institute for the
Blind in Sector 26, so that blind children can easily come to the
park. Moreover, there is no park in this area so other people can also
come here for morning or evening walk or for recreation activities,
he said.

Herbal plants that can be recognised easily through the sense of
smell or touch will be primarily grown in the park. Soothing music
will be played in the evening in the park to entertain the people
coming here, he said.

Chabhra, whose tenure as the mayor ends Dec 31, said that during 2008
development works amounting to Rs.2,400 million were initiated by the
civic corporation.

He said: To keep an eye on anti-social elements and to minimise the
incidents of vehicle thefts, we are installing CCTV cameras in all the
parking lots in the city. The work will be completed by Dec 31.

Wishing all on Louis Braille Bi-centinal birthday, January 4!

Subject: [AI] Episode 111 for online listening

hi all,
Episode 111 of our radio show is now available for online listening. Right
now you would hear what went on air on 24th december on vividh bharati. In a
couple of days i should be able to upload the special internet version of
episode 111, which has more info and less edited interview.

Listen to both and you would know that many a pieces of information which
would impress the listeners is missing in the radio version. we are asked to
edit them out by the broadcaster though the sole objective of the show is to
inform, inspire and empower.

Eyeway Yeh Hai Roshni Ka Karawan brings you a chat with a software architect
working with Sapient Technologies, who just happens to be blind. You know
him - our friend Manish Agrawal.

The interview is followed by a short biography of Maryanne Diamond, the
current president of World Blind Union. Born blind, Maryanne from Australia,
believes in following her passions than anything else. You would know about
her from my colleague Guneet Sethi.

Also try your luck by participating in the contest of the episode.

So try and listen to both the versions of 111. To listen online visit our
website at www.eyeway.org/include/radio/radio.php. Here hit enter on the
link of Episode 111, and the show should start playing in your
default player.

Forward this mail to all your acquaintances, and help them to think
inclusive.

We look forward to your feedback on the show.

thanks and regards,

Yes! You can do so in the 'Open With' dialog box. To launch the 'Open With'
dialog box, right click on a file to be opened in MediaPlayer Classic and
select the Open With option. If its shown as a sub-menu, select Choose
Program or such option from the sub-menu.

In the 'Open With' dialog box, choose the desired program and check the
check box that reads 'Always Use the Selected Program to open this type of
file' and activate the OK button.
