you can get it from
http://www.avira.com

and click on downloads section

yes it is a brilliant antivirus software and avira premium security
suit had been my personal antivirus softwares from years. it is a paid
virtion having features like personal firewall, spyware, and mail
guard features. even avira clasic works wonderfully except the
provision of firewall and active guard clearing will not be available.
I request every one to try this and we can reduce formats to minimum.

hello every1 at accessindia!

greetings to all :)

many a times, friends from this list, or even outside this list, often
asks me 1 very common question.

" as you knows a bit about internals of computer, being able to
research on internet, and since your last xp format was 2 years ago,
what basic softwares you use?"

so i thought, i'll just let my opinions to be posted here at accessindia.

it is not compulsory that every1 will agree with me on many terms, and
maybe my small research on net maybe not very very accurate, but here
is the list of softwares and websites that i use very often.

i'm running windows xp service pack 3, on a 1.6 mobile centrino p4,
with 2 gb of ram, and 160 hard drive.

3 years old laptop, produced by compaq.
dont have the model number, sorry :)

for anty virus, my favorite is free version of avira anty virus.
i've seen this1 perform better then even some payed anty viruses and
definitely better then other free anty viruses like avast, and a v g.

although, the accessibility is a issue with it, but i've never needed
to change its by default options, and i can always bring up the
context menu, and hit enter on scan with avira option so there's no
problem for me.
because of its daily updates, ability to scan rootkits, and with
little playing around, understandable, non graphical menus,

i'd recommend this anty virus to all.

for compressing and decompressing archived files, i use 7zip.

this provides maximum compression and can also create executable
files, known as SFX ( self extracting archives )
the menus are very much like win rar or winzip.
and above all, it is a freeware!

for the media player, i've been using kLite media player
which can play almost every file type but creating playlist, and other
complex audio related tasks are not possible with it.
due to its simple interface, easy to use menus, and being a freeware,
this have been my player over 2 years now.

i've been using mozilla firefox because of web visum, and also because
it doesn't automaticly runs active exe contents , jawa applets, and
even it asks you to give permission if the page tries to refresh, or
reload on its own making navigation hard
this is also, more secure then internet explorer, hence less spywares
and active exe viruses.
it also have wide variety of free add-ons, making it more flexible
and user oriented.

Thunderbird is my mail client, because i've configured my gmail with
it with imap access, and even when it is not very different then ms.
outlook, due to its simplicity and frequent securities updates, this
has been my mail client over an year.

rest, i use ms office 2003,( cuz i'm just being lazy to install play,
and learn 2007,)
skype 4.0, live messenger 8.5,

NVDA as my portable screen reader, jaws 10.0 as main screen reader and
Kurzweil 1000 version 11.03 as other important softwares.

i've also been using spybot as an anty spyware, and zoneAlarm free
version as extensive firewall.

presently, i'm using net from gprs of airtel, making my nokia n72 as
modem using Nokia PC Suite 7.0.7.0.

i've been using www.techtree.com to get the latest technology news, and
www.softpedia.com to download softwares.
and have important wijits at I google, which is also my homePage
if you have any further queries in relation to above mentioned or any
software, please feel to contact me at

skype: ruchir89

[AI] Announcing PDF2HTM

2009-01-25 Thread Roopakshi Pathania

>From the archive
http://EmpowermentZone.com/pdf2htm.zip

PDF2HTM
Version 1.0
January 25, 2009
Copyright 2009 by Jamal Mazrui
GPL License

PDF2HTM is a command-line utility that converts one or more files from PDF
to HTML format. The syntax is
pdf2htm.exe SourcePDF
where the parameter is either a file name or a wildcard spec like
*.pdf
Enclose it with quotes if it contains a space. A resulting HTML file has
the same name except for a .htm extension.

This was built with Python 2.5 and the packages PDFMiner and py2exe. The
top-level script,
pdf2htm.py
, is an adaptation of the PDFMiner tool called
pdf2txt.py
. The batch file, RunSetup.bat, runs the py2exe script,
setup.py
, to create the stand-alone executable, pdf2htm.exe.

All aspects of the HTML format are determined by underlying PDFMinor
routines. Visual aspects such as fonts are present, but structural
aspects such as headings do not seem to be converted, unfortunately.
Other programmers interested in this project may wish to work on improving
HTML structure.

days back i got a news that a software called multiscanner can be used to
obtain text from an image captured through a mobile phone or a digital camera.
The software comes in built with nokia e71 and nokia e66. However, i assume
that the application may be instaled on some other nokia s60 3.1 devices.
Please note that i have tested the application on e71 and the result was
satisfactory. I also tested it on my current phone ie nokia 6220 c but it did
not work may because of the fact that its s60 3.2. For more detail please visit

Re: [AI] re backup addressbook

2009-01-25 Thread Amar Jain
Respected Sir,

By using export option I will get my all contacts but what to do for
taking the settings's backup? I mean:

In treeview it shows "Main Identity's contacts" and "Shared Contacts".
In both of them there are folders. Now if I take backup through export
then when I will restore it into another addressbook then will it be
in the same way in which they are now?

Suppose "Mumbai University" is in the "Main identity's contacts in the
folder "Mumbai University".

Now After taking the exported "CST file", if I import it into another
addressbook on another pc then will "Mumbai University" go to the same
folder or it will go in the contact list only.

I want to take my backup in a way so that when I restore all data
should be organized in the same way in which it is right now.

I hope I have put my question clearly. But still if you have any
confusion then please reply me.

Thanks a lot members and specially sir for the help but it is not the
end, I need your guidance further also in this matter.

Best Regards,
Amar Jain.

Enter in particular jaws, then use alt key. After that, select Basic... but
not enter. Now, Use Down Arrow key once and then use Right Arrow once and
enter on Global Adjustment. Here, use Tab Key about four times, select
the appropriate speed through Down or Up Arrow key and press Enter key on OK

Dear members,

I have gone through the relevant circular. Actually, it is Office
Memorandum issued by Ministry of Finance (Department of Expenditures) in
supersession of its previous OM issued in 1997. This wo'nt be applicable
in case of Bank employees, as there is nothing mentioned about it.

All members are free to share their valuable opinions for ensuring its
implementation on Bank employees.

Subject: [AI] Problem with Jaws in MS Word

Hi friends

For the past few days, I am encountering a strange problem with Jaws in MS
word.
Jaws is not reading some lines and is saying blank.
Even in some words, Jaws is not reading some characters.
But a sighted person can see everything in perfect condition.
This is causing a lot of problem as I am deleting some important sentences
of my research work assuming there is nothing in that line.
I am using Jaws 9 and MS Office 2003.
Awaiting your able guidance.

[AI] Download Windows XP Service Pack 3: XP SP3 (Full package)

2009-01-25 Thread ruchir falodiya
an accessindian, mr. Balasaheb Londhe emailed me today morning, asking
for the link to download service pack 3 for windows xp.

while looking at microsoft's site, they do provide only internet
version, in which, you download the installer, it runs, and downloads
the tools.

this could be a bad option, since it doesn't have resuming support,
and is relatively slow.

so i've found the entire package and i'm posting here the details, in
case any1 mite need to get service pack 3 for xp.

find the details below.

Download Windows XP Service Pack 3: XP SP3 (Full package)

Applies to:
Windows XP (English)

Requirements
Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, TabletPC or Media Center (32 bit)

File Size
316MB

File Name
WindowsXP-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe

Author/Supplier
Microsoft

download link :

http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/winxpsp3-security.html

Description
Windows XP Service Pack 3 (XP SP3) fixes a range of bugs and adds new
features to Windows XP. The file is a large download and can be
applied to any version
of Windows XP Home, Professional, TabletPC or Media Center (32 bit
only). In addition, it doesn't matter what XP patches you have
previously applied to
your system, SP3 will update any unpatched, partially patched or
completely updated system to version SP3. It includes all features of
Service Pack 1 and
2, plus all patches, updates and fixes released up to and including
April 2008's monthly security bulletin. Keep in mind that new patches
made available
after Service Pack 3 was released (mid April 2008) will still need to
be applied.

Important notes: Microsoft advise uninstalling any beta or Release
Candidate versions before installing this final release. Do not
install Service Pack
3 on systems with AMD chips unless a special hotfix has been applied
first. This hotfix needs to be applied before SP3, otherwise your
system may get stuck
in a loop and never start.

if you are using AMD processors, please download this AMD hotfix before.

download link for AMD hotfix :

http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/windows-xp-sp3-amd-stop-0x007E.html

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes the following:

• All previous security patches and fixes released for Windows XP.
• All enhancements and new features that were included with Windows XP
SP1 and Windows XP SP2
• Only two new features have been added: Black Hole Router Detection
Windows and Network Access Protection (NAP).
• The following are already available for Windows XP in stand-alone
updates. Windows XP SP3 includes them by default (System
administrators must choose
to install each of these updates): MMC 3.0, MSXML6, Microsoft Windows
Installer 3.1 v2, Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.5,
IPsec Simple
Policy Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP, Digital
Identity, Management Service (DIMS), Peer Name Resolution Protocol
(PNRP) 2.1, Wi-Fi Protected
Access 2 (WPA2).
• From the Release Notes: "Microsoft is not adding significant
functionality from newer versions of Windows, such as Windows Vista,
to Windows XP through
XP SP3. For instance, Windows XP SP3 does not include Windows Internet
Explorer 7, although Windows XP SP3 does include updates to both
Internet Explorer
6 and Internet Explorer 7, and it will update whichever version is
installed on the computer. One notable exception is that, SP3 does
include Network Access
Protection (NAP)."

Re: [AI] What we call ourself!

2009-01-25 Thread Subramani L
In newspaper reports, we use the expression the blind. Visually
challenged or visually impaired is generally used sparingly since these
words are longer than the blind. But referring to a person with
blindness as "Blind" or "blinds" in plural is definitely wrong.

I tend to agree with you entirely. I guess while pointing out the
problem
with "a blind and blinds" I myself made an error in expression. But
then if
the word blind has to be used with regards to a person, it should be
used as
an adjective and not as a noun. But then when it comes to good
sensibilities, then your point is well made.

There are two web sites that may be useful to you. They are:

depending on its availability the book appears. The second is just

[AI] Add Copy To / Move To to the Windows Explorer Right Click Menu

2009-01-25 Thread ruchir falodiya
this small creation of registry hack was the result of a boring night,
around 3 AM

any 1 have any idea.. why most of the techno nerds cant sleep properly in night?

fine, enough of stupid never-ending questions, lets get back to the main point.

sure we can easily move/copy files and folders from 1 place to other..
ctrl+x,c,v are the key strokes we've been using for quite a long time.

but if you are a power user, each second counts.. and you cant just
keep navigating back and forth from source to destination path,
copying or moving files.. it is easy, but sure takes up a lots of
time!

the alternative is to have a menu in your context menu, called copy
to, and move to.

now there are 2 ways to have this menu.

1. use a registry editor ( tricky and pretty much not recommendable
for users who have never plaied with registries,)

2. i'll upload a file, you peoples just run it, and that's it.)

since the second option is pretty good and easy for both of us, lets adopt it.

You have successfully uploaded a file called copyto_moveto.zip (620
B), to sendspace.

Description: a registry to add copy to and move to menu
You can use the following link to retrieve your file:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/fguo66

steps to implement :

1. download and unzip the file.
2. inside, you will find 2 registry files, named copyto.reg and moveto.reg
3. you can use any of them, the copyto.reg adds a copy to menu, and
moveto.reg adds move to menu.
it is not compulsory to use both of them, so if you just want move to
menu, run moveto.reg and if you just want copy to menu, run copyto.reg
and obviously, you can have both of menus by running both of them

when you run any of 2 files, the windows will ask if you want to add
this information to your registry?
click yes, and then click okay.

that's it!

now, just select the files/folders you want to copy or move to a
different location,
hit application key, arrow down to the new menus, called copy to folder...
or move to folder... and hit enter.
a tree view opens, select the destination path, hit copy to, or move
to buttone, and enjoy.

note: you can also copy or move multiple files or folders. just follow
above specified steps, with multiple files or folders selected.

and oh by the way, i've totally shifted my blog's email subscription
from google alerts ( as they are pretty unstable) to feedburner.

those who want to get subscribed via email, please follow this link.

http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=2781085&loc=en_US

p.s. feel free to pass on this link

with warm regards,
ruchir.
