As far as I know, blue tooth adapters are USB devices. Simply attach it like
a pen drive and you will be prompted for the installation disk.

That's correct, but as I understand, CDMA is just introduced in India in
terms of 3G connections and it's not yet available nation wide. Vodaphone
certainly works in my village, but does it applicable to the data
connection as well? I mean, Have they been using CDMA which works allover
India? But you are right that the data card will certainly work in USA and

Re: [AI] what is virtual buffer

2009-03-20 Thread harish

Hi
A small correction since Jaws 3.2 when MS goofed up with IE 4.1 and from the
beast of virtual buffer was resorted to by Ms using MSAA.

Harish.

- Original Message -
From: "Wael"

To:
Sent: Friday, March 20, 2009 7:35 PM
Subject: Re: [AI] what is virtual buffer

1. what is virtual bufferin JAWS? & why it is used?

The jaws virtual buffer is a jaws utility to convert the on-screen static
text into textual document such as that of ms word.

let us take an example:
when you try to exit from notepad after writing some letters, you will be
faced with a static text message informing you that your text has changed,
do you want to save?
at that time, a yes, no and cancel buttons are only the available options
using your arrow keys, but you can't reach the message itself because it
is staticaly shown on screen.

how if you are willing to copy this message for a computer technition or
tutore?
here comes the importance of the virtual buffer which copies the static
message of your message and shows it in a new window with the complete
options to navigate by letter, word, line, sentence, and also select and
copy whatever you like from this text.

why used?
to grant the blind users equal access to all screen information as well as
the print screen utility.

2. how it helps us to work?

Surely, it is essential to use the virtual buffer in some windows
aplications like the internet explorer, firefox, outlook and outlook
express, adobe acrobat and reader, help viewer, etc. this is because the
mentioned aplications depend mainly on on-screen static text.

thus, without a virtual buffer, a blind user could not use the mentioned
applications efficiently.

3. why it is not supporting in JAWS10 version?

This is not true, all jaws versions i used is having this feature, since i
started using jaws 2.0 uptil 10.0.1139 which is currently 1 week old.

Dear all

I believe, we all realize power of vote.
Its necessary to vote and it is ones duty to find out his/her name is in
voter list or not. Election commission of India has directed state ceo's
to publish electoral roll online.

Some states are also providing e-registration to the voter.
Open below link
http://eci.nic.in/
Then find hyperlink "Links to State CEOs"
On the next page you will get list of states in drop down. Select your
state and click on go.

After that I am sure you will able to find needed information
Besides online search of electoral roll you will get Statistics and
information of local Interest on state ceo's website.
So please use the information and make sure your name belongs in voter
list.
If you have not register yourself you can register yourself at any time
but in order to vote for current election you need to register 10 days
before filing of nomination.

If you have any query or facing any kind of difficulty in getting
information you can subscribe me to my SMS channel at

http://labs.google.co.in/smschannels/subscribe/GeneralElection
And ask your queries. I will try to help you.
It is open for all to subscribe and send message. For more information on
Google sms channel click on

http://labs.google.co.in/smschannels/help

no affiliation with jagore.com but it is also good source for the election
related matter.

Please do vote, for the sake of ourselves.

Hello!!

Microsoft has launched its new and faster version of Internet Explorer
i.e. 8 which is available for download on microsoft's website or here is
a link for your quick download:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/C/0/CC0BD555-33DD-411E-936B-73AC6F95AE11/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe

According to the critics, its much better than IE7 which was slow; but it
still lags behind other popular browsers like FireFox, Safari etc in
terms of browsing speeds and other additional features.
Well, I have personally used IE8 and from the looks of it, it looks
better than IE7 but haven't experienced much of a difference in browsing.

Re: [AI] what is virtual buffer

2009-03-20 Thread Wael

1. what is virtual bufferin JAWS? & why it is used?

The jaws virtual buffer is a jaws utility to convert the on-screen static text
into textual document such as that of ms word.

let us take an example:
when you try to exit from notepad after writing some letters, you will be faced
with a static text message informing you that your text has changed, do you
want to save?
at that time, a yes, no and cancel buttons are only the available options using
your arrow keys, but you can't reach the message itself because it is staticaly
shown on screen.

how if you are willing to copy this message for a computer technition or tutore?
here comes the importance of the virtual buffer which copies the static message
of your message and shows it in a new window with the complete options to
navigate by letter, word, line, sentence, and also select and copy whatever you
like from this text.

why used?
to grant the blind users equal access to all screen information as well as the
print screen utility.

2. how it helps us to work?

Surely, it is essential to use the virtual buffer in some windows aplications
like the internet explorer, firefox, outlook and outlook express, adobe acrobat
and reader, help viewer, etc. this is because the mentioned aplications depend
mainly on on-screen static text.

thus, without a virtual buffer, a blind user could not use the mentioned
applications efficiently.

3. why it is not supporting in JAWS10 version?

This is not true, all jaws versions i used is having this feature, since i
started using jaws 2.0 uptil 10.0.1139 which is currently 1 week old.

Hi Satguru

I can convert the text tutorial into audio tutorial using Kurzweil.
If that's ok for you, I shall do it and send those audio files to you
personally.

Hello!!

Microsoft has launched its new and faster version of Internet Explorer
i.e. 8 which is available for download on microsoft's website or here is a
link for your quick download:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/C/0/CC0BD555-33DD-411E-936B-73AC6F95AE11/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe

According to the critics, its much better than IE7 which was slow; but it
still lags behind other popular browsers like FireFox, Safari etc in terms
of browsing speeds and other additional features.
Well, I have personally used IE8 and from the looks of it, it looks better
than IE7 but haven't experienced much of a difference in browsing.

Hi, nice that you bought reliance, otherwise, tata is not accessible with

I had tried it, while I was in Mumbai, and I had to take help of a sighted

Subject: [AI] question about Reliance data card

Hai Folks:

I bought the Reliance mobile datacard basically to use it on the laptop
(which is yet to be shipped from Japan). I was told during the time of
purchase that the card can be used on a desktop as well. They gave me a
pen drive and said I just have to insert it on the USB port and type in
the number given to me to connect to the internet (that is, of course,
after installing the software). I installed the software and don't
exactly know where to type in the number to connect to the internet. The
box that appears reads as "profile name: combo box Reliance, one of
one". When I press the tab key it goes to the connect button. If anyone
is using Reliance datacard, pl help me use it. I have taken the plan in
which we can use 15hrs surfing in the day and 30 hrs in the night.
Thanks in advance.

Subramani

I have also the same experience with bank of india.
When I aproach the branch for the internet banking with the RBI cercular,
first time god knows where they throw my application. When I feel up and
submited the form for second time, the manager said that we will have to
ask to our head office that whether this facility should be given to VI
account holder or not. When I vissited the branch for more than 3 4 time,
at last the manager told me that we have forwarded the application and
finally I got my user ID and password without any problem. Further they
were arguing that they will provide me only view facility and not the
fund transfer. In this way, they took 3 months for 15 days matter.
But the most important point I did not understand, if RBI cercular is
clearly stating that such facilities should be given to VI customers
without any discrimination, is there any need to ask there head office?
Or it is a policy of troubling us.

Thanks and regards,

[AI] how to change gmail passward

2009-03-20 Thread Mahesh Narasimhan Iyer
Dear Vishal,

Please follow the following steps to change the password in gmail.
While changing the password, if you are facing problems, please do
contact me because yesterday only I changed my password.

Changing your password
Click Settings to change any of your personal information, including
your password. Here's how to change your password:
List of 4 items
1. Open the Accounts tab after you click Settings.
2. Click Google Account settings.
3. In the new window, click Change password under the Personal
information option.
4. Enter your current password and your new password.
list end

Make sure you create a unique password to help keep someone from
breaking in to your account. Here are a few tips for creating your
password, and keeping
it safe:
List of 5 items
• Never tell anyone your password.
• Never write down your password. Even though your password will look
random to others, think of a way to remember it so that you don't have
to write it
down.
• Change your password periodically.
• Don't choose a dictionary word as your password. Be creative.
• Include punctuation marks. Mix capital and lowercase letters. Use
numbers. A variety of characters makes it harder to guess a password.
list end

If your password isn't working, you'll need to go through our
password recovery process.

Re: [AI] question about Reliance data card

I have used both Reliance and Tata Indicom data cards when I was in
Bangalore and speeds are appalling. They are OK for sending and receiving
emails though. But for regular browsing, they are just too slow. And I would
advice people not to bother with any of the GSM providers. Without 3G or
HSDPA, those networks are even slower than CDMA.

[AI] Internet speeds on wireless datacards...

2009-03-20 Thread Sudhir R (NeSTIT)
Rediff.com

March 19, 2009 09:26 IST

Your wireless internet connection has just got faster, with CDMA
operators launching services that offer speeds of up to 3.1 mbps.

On a comparative basis, this is faster by over 20 times than the
existing wireless broadband connections, and 10 times faster than
average broadband connections

in the country.

At present, broadband is defined as always-on connectivity with 256 kbps
speed on Ethernet connections (wired), while the maximum speed available
over wireless

is around 144 kbps.

However, the upload and download speeds do not match the advertised
speeds, which can be misleading for users. Users in India, for instance,
only get around

30-40 kbps connectivity on a 256 mbps connection and a meagre 9-10 kbps
on a 144 kbps connection during peak times, according to Internet
Service Providers

Association of India President Rajesh Chharia.

Tata Teleservices [

has launched Photon+, a plug and play device that offers data speeds of
up to 3.1 mbps. It claims that this is 20 times faster than existing
wireless mobile

technologies. It has also unveiled another product -- Power Launcher --
an Ethernet-based broadband product that offers speeds up to 100 mbps.

"There is an explosion of internet usage in the country, with an
increase in usage of bandwidth... the number of individual internet
users far exceeded

that of corporate users and the launch of these services will enable
faster and trouble-free internet access," Tata Teleservices
(Maharashtra) Ltd Managing

Director Mukund Govind Rajan said.

According to the recent Telecom Regulatory Authority of India data, the
total number of internet connections in the country stand at around 13
million,

of which broadband connections are 5.65 million.

Another CDMA player, Reliance Communications [

has also rolled out a high-speed broadband service, Reliance Netconnect
Broadband Plus. This has a downlink speed of up to 3.1 mbps and a
separate uplink

speed of up to 1.8 mbps, which the company claims is much higher than
any other offering in the country.

"This is the inflection point for the Indian internet industry and would
enable broadband access to millions of online Indians," RCom President
Mahesh Prasad

said, attributing the poor penetration to the limitations of wireline
internet like last mile connectivity and time taken for network
deployment.

But are these tall claims? According to Chharia, "Their claims are right
as 3.1 Mbps connections can be offered. However, will these companies
provide both

access and international bandwidth at these speeds? If both access and
bandwidth are provided at these speeds, it's a great leap for the
industry."

The Cellular Operators' Association of India is not amused. The body of
GSM operators has sought the department of telecommunications's
intervention to

stop these services, which it claims are 3G EVDO services. It is
'legally untenable' to permit select players to get a preferential
headstart to offer

3G services, it wrote in a letter to the DoT.
