[AI] two things to tell
Hello All, I have been reading this mailing list from some time now and analyzed that crack or thankyou messages keep on repeating.Few suggestion : 1. Caution email from moderator from time to time regarding cracks or patches in mailing list as people do not read guidelines or are new to list 2. Re iterate avoidance of discussing cracks on the list into guidelines in bold letters on top. 3. Regarding thankyou or congratulation emails ,I will give one example. We have a link in our company intranet which takes you to a page where greetings can be send to a particular person without clogging email server or everyones inbox , now this can be greeting or congratulation or thankyou messages etc. Thankyou, Pankaj Kwatra . --- On Sat, 10/2/10, accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in wrote: From: accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in Subject: AccessIndia Digest, Vol 54, Issue 3 To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Date: Saturday, October 2, 2010, 12:30 AM Send AccessIndia mailing list submissions to accessindia@accessindia.org.in To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/accessindia_accessindia.org.in or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in You can reach the person managing the list at accessindia-ow...@accessindia.org.in When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of AccessIndia digest..." In fact, when we leave house in the morning, the life is so full of risks that there is no guarantee that we would be able to make it to home safely in the evening. But, when we do, it actually is our new birth. That means, suppose we are 500 members on this list, each of us merits a congratulation for surviving the day. So we would be sending 500 such messages to each other everyday. Secondly, if somebody attains some exceptional feat, list members can express their opinion, offer comments and make suggestions if there are any, but list should not overflow with simply greetings and congrats.Moderator of the list can wish the respective member on behalf of entire group. Of course, those who are so willing, can direct their messages to the personal email I d of that person. - Original Message - From: "Sandeep Gautam" To: Sent: Friday, October 01, 2010 7:20 AM Subject: [AI] two things to tell > Dear list, > some people are again and again discussing about patches and cracks in > list despite of several mails from moderator. > > what are they thinking? > > is not there any software which can automatically remove such mails from > list which contains words like crack or patch without coming to list? > Warning from moderator should be treated as final warning. > > another thing, what i think, personal congratulation message to other > person should not come in the list. > yes, if someone wants to share his/her own success to the list, it should > be welcomed. if someone wants to congrats him/her, it should be done on > his/her personal id. > > Sandeep G > Voice your thoughts in the blog to discuss the Rights of persons with > disability bill at: > http://www.accessindia.org.in/harish/blog.htm > > To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in > with the subject unsubscribe. > > To change your subscription to digest mode or make any other changes, > please visit the list home page at > http://accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/accessindia_accessindia.org.in -- Message: 2 Date: Fri, 1 Oct 2010 20:55:43 +0530 From: "Dr Jalaja" To: "accessindia" Subject: [AI] Thank you all Message-ID: <00ea01cb617c$ec4895d0$0201a...@qwe> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hello friends, Thank you all for the excellent support and the inspiration given for me. The Hindu : Sport News : Not one to be daunted by adversities NEW DELHI, octobre 2, 2010 yK. KEERTHIVASAN SHARE · COMMENT · PRINT · T+ A BRAVE GIRL: British archer Danielle Brown's success story is one to be proud of and she will be looking to put on a good show at New Delhi. PHOTO: V.V. KRISHNANA BRAVE GIRL: British archer Danielle Brown's success story is one to be proud of and she will be looking to put on a good show at New Delhi. RELATED TOPICS Commonwealth Games 2010 sports event Commonwealth Games human interest Finding the volunteers struggling to arrange a ramp for her at the press conference in the Games Village here on Friday, Danielle Brown slowly rose from her wheelchair, used her crutches and took a few steps to reach the dais. The 22-year-old English archer suffers from a condition called reflex sympathetic dystrophy, which results in constant, chronic pain in the feet. It was diagnosed when she was 13 and the pain stopped her from fell-running (running in the hills and mountains) and golf- things which she enjoyed doing. But nothing has deterred her from achieving what she set out to do after taking up archery at the age of 15. Now, after years of struggle, pain and sacrifices, Brown will become the first Paralympic athlete from England to compete in the able-bodied event in a Commonwealth Games. "I am very excited and I am glad that I got this opportunity," Brown said. "It is the first time that archery is being included in the CWG (after a gap of 28 years) and it is not going to be in the next CWG in Glasgow. So this could well be a lifetime opportunity." Boyfriend's backing Brown wouldn't have made it to the selection trials for the Commonwealth Games but for the cajoling by her boyfriend and team-mate Ali Jawad, a paralympic powerlifter. "To be honest with you, I was not going to turn up for the selection trials. I qualified three days before the closing dates because I was in Arizona at that time. I thought to myself 'Do I really want to go back and within five days turn up for the selection trials?' Brown also had doubts whether she could qualify for CWG in the compound section when the competition was going to be very tough. But her boyfriend told her about the importance of the Games and she agreed. "I am really glad that I did it," Brown said. First time at Nymburk Brown's first international competitive event was at the European junior archery championships in Nymburk (Czech Republic) in 2006 where she reached the semifinals of the compound bow open class event. She then took part in the World archery championships in Cheongju (South Korea) in 2007. Competing in the compound bow open class section, Brown won the gold medal. She was also part of the British women's team which won gold in the team event. She capped her fine performance with a gold medal in the Beijing Paralympic Games. In fact, Brown was so focussed on the Games that she deferred her law degree at Leicester University to focus on training. Brown said she isn't under any sort of pressure in the Games and that she is excited to be here and just compete. Brown remarked that her disability has made her mentally strong to deal with challenges day in and day out. "With my disability I had to be mentally strong. For me the worst time of the day is morning when I have to get out of bed and it is just a nightmare being in so much pain. "I just had to put all that to one side so I guess in sports that also helps me. I had to develop strategies to cope with the pain," she said. Ironically, pain has kept pushing Brown to reach greater heights. Re: [AI] MBA thru correspondance
Dear Vicky, Just analyse yourself the purpose of doing MBA for you. suppose, if you are in job and need to do MBA for improvement in career growth or promotion, you should look for proper affiliation and recognition of university like, UGC and AICTE. (IGNOU is properly fit in that aspect) likewise, if you can't give much time and labour for doing MBA due to heavy work in office or lack of time, you look for the ease of doing MBA. like, SMU (having all material on net) has MBA in objective type. I did MBA from GJU (Hisar) and I got all my books in CDs. with that, some correspondence MBA has 2 year duration and some has 3 years duration, so my friend, also look for that aspect considering your need. Re: [AI] Amazing! Please Pay Attention
Detailed Analysis 1. According to this rather breathless little message, which circulates via email and online, it is not possible to create a folder named "CON" on a Microsoft Windows based computer. The message claims that not even Bill Gates or the whole Microsoft "Team" can explain why this might be so. It is in fact perfectly true that you cannot create a folder named "CON", nor can you rename an existing folder to "CON". However, there is no mystery surrounding this restriction whatsoever. The "team" at Microsoft, and a great many others besides, know perfectly well why you cannot name a folder "CON". "CON" and a number of other character strings are in fact reserved names that go back to the days of DOS and cannot be used to name folders or files. Other reserved names are: a.. PRN b.. AUX c.. NUL d.. LPT1 e.. COM1 f.. Potential drive letter - A: to Z: g.. A number of others If you try to name a folder using one of these reserved names, the name will automatically revert to the default, generally "New Folder". Moreover, if you try to use a reserved name to name a file such as a Notepad or Microsoft Word document you will generally receive an error message similar to the following: Depending on exactly how you save the file, you may instead receive a warning message advising that a file with that name already exists. However, even if you choose "Yes" to overwrite the existing file, you will still not be allowed to save the file. It should be noted that, by entering the right sequence of commands via the command prompt, it is usually possible to circumvent the restriction in Winodows and create a folder using a reserved name. However, this may cause other problems and is not advisable, especially for more inexperienced users. While there is no mystery about this issue, it might have saved user confusion if Windows displayed an explanatory error message when attempting to create a folder with a reserved name as well. For more detailed information see: MS-DOS Device Driver Names Cannot be Used as File Names 2. What you see isn’t what you typed. This is an easter egg. Or maybe even Microsoft’s programmers hate Bush. That’s what we knew. But the truth is that all 4-3-3-5 strings work. So if you type “this app can break”. The same results. It appears to be bug from Microsoft which has been fixed in Vista. Here is someone from JCXP.net forum explanation: Whenever we open a text file in notepad, it determines whether the text is ASCII or Unicode.. But actually there is no way in the world to exactly determine whether the text is ASCII or Unicode.. There is a function called IsTextUnicode in windows API.. The function does some tests on the text based on statistical data.. This is what MSDN says about the function.. “The function uses various statistical and deterministic methods to make its determination.. These tests are not foolproof. The statistical tests assume certain amounts of variation between low and high bytes in a string, and some ASCII strings can slip through. For example, if lpBuffer points to the ASCII string 0×41, 0x0A, 0x0D, 0x1D (A\n\r^Z), the string passes the IS_TEXT_UNICODE_STATISTICS test, though failure would be preferable.” The bug appeared for the first time in Windows NT 3.5 but was not discovered until early 2004. Older versions of Notepad such as those that came with Windows 95, 98, ME, and NT 3.1 do not include Unicode support so the bug does not occur. The bug existed in all successive versions of Windows through Windows XP. This bug does not occur in Windows Vista and Windows 7 because their version of IsTextUnicode has been altered to make it much more likely to guess a byte-based encoding rather than UTF-16LE. 3. One of Word's quirky, tucked-away features is the rand() function. It lets you quickly insert a block of text in a document. To use the function in pre-2007 versions of Word, at the beginning of a line type =rand() and press Enter. Word inserts three paragraphs, each containing five sentences like this: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. To vary the number of sentences and paragraphs produced, add parameters to the function. For example, =rand(5,7) produces five paragraphs each containing seven sentences, while =rand(15,2) produces 15 paragraphs containing two sentences each. Why would you want to do this? Well, it's useful if you want to try out formatting or quickly whip up a document to demonstrate some of Word's features. The sentence contains all the letters of the alphabet, so it's particularly handy when you want to compare fonts. In Word 2007, rand() gets a makeover. It no longer displays a sentence containing all the letters in the alphabet; instead, it produces three paragraphs of text explaining how to perform basic fo

Re: [AI] two things to tell
Yes, I also uphold this view that, list members should avoid sending congratulatory messages or greetings on somebody's birthday or achieving a feat and so on. In fact, when we leave house in the morning, the life is so full of risks that there is no guarantee that we would be able to make it to home safely in the evening. - Original Message - From: "Sandeep Gautam" To: Sent: Friday, October 01, 2010 7:20 AM Subject: [AI] two things to tell Dear list, some people are again and again discussing about patches and cracks in list despite of several mails from moderator. what are they thinking? is not there any software which can automatically remove such mails from list which contains words like crack or patch without coming to list? Warning from moderator should be treated as final warning. another thing, what i think, personal congratulation message to other person should not come in the list. yes, if someone wants to share his/her own success to the list, it should be welcomed. if someone wants to congrats him/her, it should be done on his/her personal id. I agree with you! -Original Message- From: accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Balaram Sent: Friday, October 01, 2010 2:17 AM To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: [AI] A few thoughts on subjecct lines and postings. Dear list, Would like to share my thoughts on subject lines and postings. Can't we avoid continuing discussion on the same subject for long? For example, The topic behavior of my superior is on the list for at least more than a week. Still the topic is continuing even after the moderator's suggestion of closing the thread. Can't we go on a much faster pace covering more topics? Then again, the subject lines has much importance as far as a list has concerned. For example, A query, help needed, somethings to share ETC. These subject lines don't reflect the actual need or the topic a person wishes to discuss or share with the list. Of course, one can open the Email and read the contence. But, due to the heavy traffic on the list and persons subscribing to different lists such as this, Won't it be a good idea to put appropriate subject lines to allow the member to open the Emails of his or her choice? Again, can't we send the congratulatory messages to the concerned persons? I think, this is the most repeated suggestion in the list over the years. Finally, I will be much appreciative if you read this Email and give it a thought before sending the next posting to the list. These are my personal thoughts and no offense is meant to any member of the list. Regards, P. Balaraman. [AI] Amazing! Please Pay Attention
Dear All I am posting in here, after a very long time. Please pay heed to it, it is amazing. May be, our expertise can solve the mystery. This is enough to surprise us all. Go ahead and try this. It makes a good discussion. MAGIC #1 An Indian found that nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the Computer which can be named as "CON". This is something funny and inexplicable? At Microsoft the whole Team, couldn't answer why this happened! TRY IT NOW, IT WILL NOT CREATE A FOLDER WITH THE NAME "CON" MAGIC #2 For those of you using Windows, do the following: 1.) Open an empty notepad file 2.) Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes) 3.) Save it as whatever you want. 4.) Close it, and re-open it. Noticed the weird bug? No one can explain! MAGIC #3 Again this is something funny and can't be explained? At Microsoft the whole Team, including Bill Gates, couldn't answer why this happened! It was discovered by a Brazilian. Try it out yourself? Open Microsoft Word and type =rand (200, 99) And then press ENTER And see the magic?..! Magic #4 Did you know that a flight number from one of the planes that hit one of the two WTC towers on 9/11 was Q33N. In Notepad / WordPad or MS Word, type that flight number i.e. Q33N. Increase the font size to 72. Change the font to Wingdings. ….. u will be amazed by the findings!!!……….. Re: [AI] additional thoughts on mobility
Dear Ma'am, Thanks for your emails. You can perhaps write a book on mobility and independence. It would be additionally useful because apart from bestowing light on general mobility, you can also talk from women's point of view. I am afraid I don't know what is your profession, presumably you would have told about it long time before. It would be obliging if you tell us about it, so that people who want to take up a travel-involving job can be inspired and benefited by it. Thanking you, Shadab There is enough light for one who wants to see. Many of you know that my work requires a lot of travel both inside India and to other parts of the world. The fact is that I could not do my job if I lived in North America. Why? Because there is inadequate transport and I don't drive. America is a country in love with its cars and the transport infrastructure reflects this. Even in the largest cities on the east coast it would be difficult or impossible to do the kind of work I do because there is inadequate transport. America is set up for people who drive. India on the other hand, is set up for people who don't drive. Even with the increase in the amount of vehicles on the roads today, the infrastructure of trains, buses and rickshaws remains intact. There is a culture of public transport. Everyone uses it except the very wealthy. In America most people who use public transport are the poor and those who have lost their driving license because of drunk driving. Although in cities like New York, Boston and Washington this is not as much the case, there is no arguing the fact that America is geared to those who drive. So what does that mean in a practical sense? In America where a blind person can live is limited by the availability of public transport unless they make a choice to ask others for rides all the time. It means a blind person's work location is also limited by the availability of transport unless he wants to depend on co-workers or taxis which are extremely expensive. It also means that a blind person's social life is limited by these same factors unless he is accompanied by a sighted friend or relative. In most places in the US, using public transportation is not a viable option if one is seeking equality in the ability to move about in society. When a blind person in the west encounters some blind person from India or another developing country and that person has an assistant with them, some look upon this with scorn. They observe that the blind person allows the assistant to make decisions for them and is not in control of how the assistant actually empowers that blind person to do his job more effectively. But others look upon this with curiosity and some envy. In America, one can not choose whether or not to travel with an assistant. There are none. One either does the thing himself or it doesn't get done at all. One advantage we have here is that we can choose whether or not to seek assistance and we can govern how that assistance is utilized. We can be very creative about this. Having a personal assistant is part of the culture. It is not at all considered unusual to have one so if you're blind, you can have your driver or your assistant and it's considered normal. Not so in America. If we choose to use it, we have a lot of autonomy here that is not available in the west. If I have an appointment ten kilometers away for example and I either need or want to go there by myself, in India I go outside my building and get a rickshaw and go there. In America I have two choices depending on where the appointment is. I might be able to take several buses in which case I would have to plan ahead, figure out the schedules, find out if the bus goes anywhere close to the place I want to go, and perhaps spend several hours getting there and back. Or, I can get a taxi which would cost an enormous amount of money. Neither choice leads to equality. People ask me all the time why I have remained in India as long as I have. One of the biggest reasons is transport. There are also significant disadvantages in India that we all know about and there is no need to reiterate them here, perhaps the biggest exclusionary factor we all face is social exclusion and paternalism. This is probably the root cause of most of the difficulties of blind people. In America, things are in general but not always more advanced in this depart

Re: [AI] independence and mobility
I support your oopinion. We should be more brave and develop the skill to fase these kind of challenges. - Original Message - From: "Jean Parker" To: Sent: Monday, September 27, 2010 12:54 AM Subject: [AI] independence and mobility All: Being independent in one's mobility does not mean never utilizing the assistance of others. Actually, it means quite the opposite. To be independently mobile, one uses one's mobility skills which might include, cane, listening, asking for and using information about one's location, having back-up plans in case the first plan doesn't work, employing strategies to get where you want to go and, at times, requesting and receiving assistance from others. The thing that makes you independent is that you make the decisions about where you will go, when you will go, who else will go, what you will do when you get there, and how you will get there. It doesn't mean, nor has it ever meant, never asking for assistance from others. It does mean gauging one's environment based on what you know about it and employing the mobility skills and available assistance that best fits the situation. But the key is that YOU decide, no one else decides for you. It might interest you to know that while blind people in the United States often pride themselves on using good cane technique and navigating to unknown locations "by themselves," this does not mean not asking for and receiving assistance. The environment there is much different than it is here. You should also know, that many blind people in the United States find themselves in the difficult situation of attending large events and having no assistance available to them at times when they really need it. This is both a practical issue and a cultural one. It asks the question of how each person defines independence and how do they implement their beliefs in everyday life. It also raises the question of how we judge each other's mobility skills and/or preferences. This is an ongoing debate among blind people which will probably not be completed in any of our lifetimes. We can not always apply the mobility strategies used in the west here in India or in most other developing countries. But we can adapt much of the philosophy that has emerged in the west and adjust the techniques to meet our individual needs. Finally, having traveled widely in many parts of the world, the strategies I use to get where I want to go are always flexible as to the environment, language, time of day, culture and a million other factors that are beyond the scope of this list. The strategies I use in India are often different than the one's I use in America or Europe but the end result is that I still get where I want to go and I am in control of the process. [AI] basics of backing up your PC
Everybody always tells you to make sure that you are backing up your PC, but what does that really mean? And what files do you actually need to backup? Today I'll walk you through the basics of backing up your PC, what you should back up, and why. Of course, these rules won't fit every scenario, so you'll need to use a little common sense-think about what is most important to you on your PC, and make sure that you've figured out how to backup those files. You might think this is obvious, but you'd be surprised how often I've been approached by friends that lost their data after their "backup" drive died. What Should You Use for Backing Up Your PC? There are lots of different applications that you can use to make backups of your files, and there's even one built into Windows. It doesn't matter which tool you use as long as it does a decent job of creating backups. Local Backups It's important to create local backups to an external drive or another PC for speed of restoring files should something bad happen, and also because this is going to be the quickest way to create backups. I've also got guides to show you how to use Backup and Restore in Windows, GFI Backup, Macrium Reflect, and even Simple Backup in Linux-but the tool isn't that important-what you are backing up is. Online Backups There are a number of paid online backup services like Mozy, Carbonite, Spideroak, and Jungledisk, and there are also some file sync services like Dropbox and SugarSync that provide backup type of capability. These are all excellent secondary backup services, but probably shouldn't replace a regular backup just because they will take a long time to restore. Note: if you're looking for a great way to keep a folder in sync between PCs and accessible from anywhere, Dropbox rocks. I love it. Otherwise, you should probably check out Mozy, since it has a unique ability to create local backups as well as online backups. System Image Backups Rather than simply backing up files, you can create a complete backup of your system that can be restored over top of your system. The only problem with creating these type of backups is that they require a real lot of drive space. The best bet is to create an image when your system is up and running and everything is installed, and then you can use it to more easily restore everything rather than reinstalling everything manually. We've got guides to help you create a system image using the built-in tools in Windows 7 or Vista, how to restore from that system image, how to make a drive image using an Ubuntu Live CD, or even how to do it with a freeware application called DriveImageXML. If you're looking for a paid solution that works really well, you can check out Acronis. What Files Should You Backup? The most important files to backup are probably your documents, pictures, music, and other user files, but they are not the only files that you need to backup. Let's walk through some of them. a.. Documents: You should backup your entire documents folder all the time. This should be a no-brainer. b.. Music: If you've paid lots of money for MP3 downloads, you'll probably be sad to lose them. Make sure to include this folder. Note: if you're an iTunes user, you should make sure to backup your iTunes folder, which is thankfully usually inside this directory. c.. Pictures & Videos: It's really sad when I get emails from Friends saying their hard drive died and they lost all their pictures of their family. The photos might not have actually costed you anything, but you'll probably be more sad about losing memories than paying for music downloads again. d.. Desktop Email: If you're using Outlook or Windows Live Mail, make absolutely certain that you've backed up the files from these applications. Outlook stores all your email in a .PST file, and here's how to find it. e.. Application Settings: If you look within the AppData folders, you'll see directories for each and every application you're running. These settings can often be restored from a backup so you don't have to tweak everything again. Just head into C:\Users\Username\AppData\ to see the Local, Roaming, and LocalLow folders that contain many settings for your applications. Virtual Machines: If you use virtual machines for real work, you should probably create a backup of your virtual machines at some point. We wouldn't necessarily recommend backing these up every single night, but you should at least consider some type of backup plan. f.. Bookmarks: Most browsers other than Internet Explorer actually make it difficult to backup your bookmarks using Windows Backup, but the much better option is to sync your bookmarks to the cloud. Naturally, we've got a full list of all the bookmark syncing services that you can use. If you'd rather use local backup, you can simply backup the application settings folder and restore that-this works especially well for Fire

Re: [AI] Vocie to problem of the writer bank and other exams
Hello dear ma'am, Following quote is an additional condition by Union Bank for their continuing Customer Executive add. Also Alahabad bank has asked for the ya "the same" eligibility. It means all the banks derive their guidelines from a sole body. We need to make that body adhere to the Disability Commissioner guidelines on scribe 2003. I had gone to submit the guidelines by disability commissioner and Mr. Sameer Latey's case to RBI on 29th September, but was not even entertained and was told to wait till they come up with their guidelines. I am concerned as there's only 24 days left for my bank exam. Pl. guide Conditions by Union Bank and Allahabad Bank - “If the eligibility criteria for the job stipulated is Graduation, the scribe's qualification should not be more than HSC/With/PUC and should possess marks less than the candidate and not more than 60% in his own academic stream.” Regards On 7/19/10, gautam wrote: > Dear Moderator and all learned advocates of rights of pwd on the list, as > many members on the list and off the list have expressed the problem which > they have experienced in connection with eligibility conditions of the > writer in banking exams, I would like to know if there is any centralised > authority to approach for getting certain relaxation in existing eligibility > conditions of the writer in bank exams particularly the condition that the > writer should have less than 60% marks in his/her last exam. > > > > > > Gautam Agarwal > > > > Voice your thoughts in the blog to discuss the Rights of persons with > disability bill at: > http://www.accessindia.org.in/harish/blog.htm > > To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with > the subject unsubscribe. > > To change your subscription to digest mode or make any other changes, please > visit the list home page at > http://accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/accessindia_accessindia.org.in > -- "Innocence of Child is God Talking" Student of JBIMS, batch 2011.
